I see people
Wrapped up in sheets
And wonder why
They’re out on the streets
In a country so great
This scene repeats
Too many times
There’s enough food to eat

Still people go hungry
All over this land
And it’s mostly children
As I understand
When will the supply
Match the demand
Minus the excuses
See I know it can

God bless America
But tell me what for
In this land of plenty
Why do we ignore
The ones without any
Namely the poor
While givin the rich
Tax breaks and more

Those guilty of excess
Now want to conserve
But is this the government
We truly deserve
If you’re aking me
They have some nerve
Cos is it the people
Or themselves that they serve

God bless America
But tell me what for
In this land of plenty
Why do we ignore
The ones without any
Namely the poor
While givin’ the rich
Tax breaks and more

I see people
Wrapped up in sheets
And wonder why
They’re out on the streets
In a country so great
This scene repeats
Too many times
There’s enough food to eat

God bless America
But tell me what for
In this land of plenty
Why do we ignore
The ones without any
Namely the poor
While givin’ the rich
Tax breaks and more
