For Sam Callahan*

The love that was the feeling of scurrying across
the sun sponge called the pavement

Scurrying from life's eternal rays of reality
and taking our shot in the darkness

Scurrying from the disbelievers

Scurrying from the hard lines of the past
and living in our dwelling of the spectacular now
