"... and what of Guilt?"

"Simple. Guilt is a result of a fear of punishment."

"Oh, please. Don't be so selfish. What about when you fail to feed your pets?
What punishment do you incur? How is fear relevant?
What if guilt itself is punishment; a reflection of some subconscious acknowledgement that one has transgressed against one's own ethics?"
