I was brought up with dignity and pride
It is the biblical words spoken being my stride
No reason for me to duck and hide
I can continue to say, “I am Somebody”
A harsh voice wants me to respond without reason
But it is God that instills salvation for all seasons
Again I am somebody who does not take being last as a condition at the end
It is my life to continue too live
My experiences in share in multitudes of give
Many claimed they have walked who think they have been
But God has always been my reason clearly at the end
My question in thought to them was always on when?
I am somebody who has travelled far and observed
Yet today’s struggles my race in what people feel I deserved
My achievements are my talents in what I learned, but others who never tried
Keeping the faith is how I stride
Struggles suggest too let boundaries block
Yet God has his own timing being his own clock
But being somebody tells me not to stop
Encouragement tells me to keep reaching for the top
Freedom of expression and expelling of rights
This keeps me triumphant and not so uptight
Yet I must be merciful and polite
I am somebody where no one can make me change
Release the chains in what society wants to arrange
Let others continue to just complain
Because I am somebody I will remain
Aim to please is only to the Lord
A good faithful servant being the applaud
The one that made me somebody oh thank you Lord.
