See no, hear no
Speak no wrong
Pretend it’s alright
And that you are strong

Pretend you don’t see it
Pretend you don’t care
That it didn’t happen
Or that you weren’t there

If you just deny it
It will all disappear
Like it never happened
No worries or fear

It’s safer than facing
The truth that it’s real
That it all really happened
And that you can’t deal

The truth is life
Really isn’t fair
And no one cares
When you get scared

So tell yourself lies
So you’re not afraid
That nothing bad happened
And that you are brave

No one will help you
They’ll just watch you drown
They don’t care you can’t swim
And can’t reach the ground

So lie to yourself
If it helps you to cope
Pretend people care
To give yourself hope

If it helps you survive
And get through the pain
Then lie to yourself
If it helps you stay sane
