Penelope Winter Nov 2021
The loving thing to do
Is take your heart and mine
In separate hands
To gently break together.

But if I wait and dare pretend
The ending is not written
Then our hearts, each on their own,
Will only shatter.

Penelope Winter Nov 2021
We all want the highs and we all want the lows
Of emotions to which we succumb,
But when high is elation and low, devastation,
It's easier just to go numb.

Fun fact: adhd brains tend to feel feelings like 481902329 times deeper, which is actually ****** terrible because there is no calm, there is only an addictive high that always crashes to a rock bottom low. That's why suppressing your feelings is such a great coping mechanism :))))))))))))))))

Each minute in his arms
Lets in another ray of sun.
I never knew that I could be so warm.

But the solstice is approaching,
The cold will soon return
And bring with it my hypothermic norm.

basically the same as Hold Me and it's not even that deep he's just so **** warm and it's so ****** cold outside and I haven't let anyone hold me in so long and just wow is this what it's like to let people in?

breathe in
the smell of tension
think the words
we'll never say

breathe out
the yearn
to hold me close
then turn and slowly
walk away

Found this in my drafts from 2019, it has become eerily relevant to my life again

Another girl to cradle,
Who’s delicate and warm,
I’m easy to replace upon your bed.
But without you I’ll return
To the coldness I have known,
And pray someday I’ll let somebody
Hold me close again.

An ever curious vine
Whose tendrils intertwine
Is naught compared to
How your body
Tangles into mine.

I still wear your shirt to bed,
Still have your voice stuck in my head.
I know I had to let you go
But how it breaks my heart to know
That you are slowly moving on.
I wish that I could be that strong.
Instead, I’ll slowly dim the light
And wear your shirt again tonight.
