a mere ripple awakens the water

i fell in the opulent abyss
the treacherous blend of green and blue
beyond the tide, a glimpse of light in the mist
from treading on the grass, encumbered with dew
an asperous stretch of glistening sand
hypnotising rhythm of the harsh crags underfoot
the echoing wail of gulls over the land
i fell into the opulent abyss
of two swirling mahogany pools
transfixed on the phantasmal bliss
encircled shadows of chestnut, purple, grey
structures of plump coral twist into a smile
stray locks of ebony hair gently sway

a rush of blood and a jolt of hysteria in the past
has become something so repulsive
how long will this last?
struggling to understand
while knowing so clear
no one cares however, as you know
into the hours of the night they dance
you just continue
the darkness has become so comforting, a trance
where nothing hurts anymore, time feels slow
you hear them return and continue to stir
hours and hours later

creeping silently
in the dead of night
shadowy beings
fill your sight
you run as fast as you can
your lungs burn
something inside of you clicks into place
and in the distance, within the fog
there’s a ghostly face
and you realise how you’ve been asleep for months
it’s all in your mind
they said
well how do you expect me to go on
when all i’ve been
is blind?

it begins slow
one drop
felt by only few below
then it continues, tenacious in its ways
setting out to restore
however
people complain of the bore
put your trust in me please
as the wind gently blows
rustling leaves on the trees
there is nascent
enduring through the night
remember
there is no darkness
only light
