Caught in a crossfire,

and I can only say something

if it supports your argument,
Watch scars fall from my eyes
Pierce the earth
And grow into deformed plants

The seeds of pain and anger
Slowly sinking deeper and deeper
Advocating the growth of demons

Nurture my growth with the remains
Of my heart
That is perishing too soon

Feed the gay birds in my tree
With the fruits of my labor
The only accomplishment to my name

But what is it?
Am I leaving a legacy?
Or just a whisper in the wind?

When I leave for good
I will make not one sound
Not even a whimper

Trees don't speak
We are steady and resilient
And silent, within ourselves
If you can think of a fitting title, feel free to share

In my ruby red shoes I click my heals
Take out my golden pen
Through transcendental meditation raise my heart rate up
Placing my head in a cosmic spin

Conjure up a darkened mood
Then brighten it up a bit
Oh, I almost forgot for luck
I go outside and spit

With a touch of genius (I don't mind saying)
I lay down my first AMAZING line
Pour over it stroke by brilliant stroke
Then erase it half a dozen times

As I analyze my finished gem
Dissecting it line by enticing line
This time I'm sure like every time before
Another masterpiece is mine

Then I noticed that one misplaced word
That changes everything I had to say
I think to myself...ahhh, "what the heck"
And I post it anyway
All in jest my friends...all in jest

I'm sitting here
Reading these words you wrote for me
It wasn't really that long ago
But it seems like ages
And now I'm thinking about you and me
I'm not the same person you wrote to
I don't feel the same either
And what about you?
You said 'I love you'
Even wrote this poem to say it
But now we're a bit estranged
I know I can get on without you
And even though it hurts, I'm fine
So what about you?
What are you feeling now?
What are you thinking?
And I have to wonder
Are you ever curious about me?
4.2.13
Under my skin,
Your words are digging in.
Ripping, tearing,
Pulling my flesh away.
Peeling back the skin
And settling in.
To a host of which
They are unwelcome.

Under my skin,
Your words are digging in.
Lying, defying,
Numbing the realities.
Peeling back the skin
And settling in.
Whispering nothings to which
There are no meanings.

Under my skin,
Your words are digging in.
Confusing, undoing,
Ignoring all truths.
Peeling back the skin
And settling in.
Crafting lies which
Are filled with sin.

Under my skin,
Your words are digging in.
Mending, fixing,
Stitching the wounds.
Peeling back the skin
And settling in.
Making a home in which
They shouldn't be existing.

Under my skin,
Your words are digging in.
Peeling back the skin
And settling in.
