No Thing

Nothing is a thoughtful word
that we take for granted.

Nothing is everything it’s not.

It is not a word.
Yet we use one to describe it.

It is not a sound.
Yet we say that we hear it.

It is not a place.
Yet we hate when we’re nowhere.

It is not a feeling
Yet we try desperately to feel it.

It is not a person.
Yet there are so many nobodies.

It exists as something it simply isn’t.
Yet I fear it is God and Truth –
Everything.

So why then, in its infinite existing inexistence,
this void that is being without being,
do I exist?

Silent Zee
Like two candles at a romantic dinner,
let us dance forever.
We do not know when
our wicks will end.
Her parents weren’t there to cry
The day that sleeping beauty died.
First Dad, then Mother, slipped away
as their comatose daughter slept each day.
Through forty two years of dreamless sleep
Her loving family did their promise keep.
A drug reaction was the cause
of her coma irreversible.
By the power of
Unconditional love
The faint flickering flame
Of life stayed possible.
Until today did beauty lie.
Until today did life endure.
Today she smiled and opened her eyes
Only then did beauty die..
Based on the story of Edwarda O’Bara, a Florida woman, who went into a diabetic coma in 1970 and was cared for at home by her family until, Yesterday, she passed away

Arun Ajmera
He approached the castle, wand in hand,
That cool, dark, and creepy night.
The Dark lord’s presence fouled his thoughts,
He felt something was not quite right.
Through fire, wind, earth, and water
Battled brave young Harry Potter.

He had a plan ready for him
But not alone would he stand
For with his friends at his back
They would rid the darkness from this land.
Through fire, wind, earth, and water
Battled brave young Harry Potter.

Tricked by those who still walked the dark path
He watched his god-father breathe his last
Then picked up his wand from where it lay
And readied for a mighty blast.
Through fire, wind, earth, and water
Battled brave young Harry Potter.

The dark lord cast at the same time
Brave Harry held his wand true and right
As the spirits of all the Dark lord killed
Were released, at last, into the night.
Through fire, wind, earth, and water
Battled brave young Harry Potter.
Written for Harry Potter!
Enthralling. Captivating.
These are the words you
spoke under your breath
just loud enough for me
to hear. For you to hear.
I find myself clinging
to your words like
a child to a blanket,
warm, comfortable.
A barrier that I slip around
my skin the way your fingers
trace my side, my thighs, my fingers.
Words chosen as carefully as all
the boys broken at the bottom
of your toy chest. I still long
to hear you say those four
little words again.
"You're more than that."
You hold your soul and country
Within your shaking hands.
This ground is so familiar,
But you don't know where you stand.
Should you take the straight and narrow?
Or find another road?
Could you make your boredom pleasure,
Or will you do as you are told?

The cold is setting on you
But you hardly feel its bite.
Your blood is way too hot here
As the day becomes the night.
Your time is speeding up,
You haven't got much left at all.
Two years spent half for nothing,
Have you seen the final fall?

kiss from a rose*
Soft and caressing
Are the petals you adorn,
You are so beautiful
But when I say it you only scorn,
Your smooth and sweet
And your smell is breathtaking,
But as you get deeper
Your strength is earth shaking,
Thin and slender
Yet mottled by thorns,
It is you who are miraculous
And it was how you were born.
A soft kiss I place upon you
Only a peck
Sweet, and smooth
In the forest I roam
The birds singing
The leaves rustling.
The breeze flowing.
The animals scamper as I make my way,
But oh what will happen to this day.
The bright sun shining rays through trees.
What seemed to happen to the beauty?
The sun disappeared, illuminated by dark clouds.
Thunder rolled.
The wind was screaming.
The leaves flew away.
The animals hid in shadows.
The fantasy seemed to be swallowed away.
Just then a loud yell was heard.
Was it a person?
A person I do not know,
But fear was the new mood.
Then I was knocked to the ground.
I saw no one in sight.
I got up and made my plight.
I looked around and saw nothing.
Just then I took off running.
What happened to the lovely day?
I ran so fast.
I ran as fast as the lightning that struck a nearby tree.
I made my way home tired and frightful.
I stared at the forest from my window.
I saw nothing.
Nothing but darkness.
I then realized something.
It was the way it was supposed to be.
The way I will always be.
