lasso

When the sky is moonless,
many of us fret.

But I want you to know that it is for
something beautiful, even a
fairy of sorts - she
ties her hair
up around our solar system like a
lasso.

She tickles the stars
until each gives way, and creates a
burst so big
I finally get you on your knees.

Whispering,
hold me hold me.

When your future daughter cries, I'll
have you promise
that you
will tell her that the sun

knows where she sleeps, and when she
says, tell me,
daddy,
about the big bang,
please read this poem to her.

One day
she may understand that
she can attach herself to every
other person
in the world, too.

This power that cottage-sized
girls hold
holds all of us together.

When the sky is moonless,
remember that it is not at all lonely
but how we stay
in love with the whole universe.

I want to cut heart-shaped holes in his wall
so he can see the clouds
billow and pucker up for him, so he can know exactly
how much I love his soft, pale patches of skin
in the expanse of a happy sky
and its clear skin. Ripples as wind
across grass
picking up the skirt of some meadow down south
the powerlines fell but there is still
electricity all over him, I am the kind of lover who
has a heartbeat only in someone
else's hand. I want to have a window into his.

somewhere there is a girl
who is saying, prove that you love me
to someone who watches her sleep
and makes sure
she feels wonderful when he
slides his **** into her *** that morning.

and I know that may not mean much
to other people
but having that would
make me stop visiting my palm-reader who
says I will birth triplet boys
when I can hardly handle
loving a single man, who is saying

I adore you
why don’t you kiss me harder when you are
angry.

but he doesn’t just **** me hard
when he is sad
he just waits until I ask.

prove that you love me, the girl will say
just don’t be surprised if
I forget that
you need me anyway
because caring this much is the same as
drowning in holy water when
god keeps pulling your head up.

riffs

I don't mean to say all of these wordy riffs
All I'm trying to say is that
I want the tufts of your hair
in my brittle open hand
I want my fingers in every nook,
Every room in your mind
I want something to latch onto
When our bodies are rendering smoke
I can't wait to watch society crumble,
under the weight of their own ignorance.

Mannequin models shrivel and turn to dust,
just like the rest of us.
And political figures get tangled in lies,
and strangle themselves,
leading to their demise.
Muscle head gym members workout to death,
their muscles explode,
and their ego's implode.
And bible thumpers cry out for Jesus as they pray,
in churches set a blaze.
I can't wait for our not so glorious fall,
and you want to know why?

Because I'm sick of standing up for a society that doesn't try.

We say that we aren't the degenerate generation,
that we are lovers and fighters,
that will fight for what we love,
but in the end,
everyone is still acting like the same ******* they were the day before.

So I'm done defending you,
society.

Go **** yourselves,
and destroy the greatest gift in the universe,
because frankly,
I don't care if you do anymore.

Turn the faucet on and let the water do its job.
Let the water swirl and spin
Let it drag all those lies down.
Let it drown it and never come up to breathe.
So how many words 'til you ruin the plot
Convince all the people they are who they're not
:
You may be an army that purges the mind
But what are your weapons when tested by time
:
For envy will widen the path that you're on
And cause you to number the lives you have won
:
And if there be motive aside of your own
Allow it to wander then leave it alone
:
That is when death has much more of a chance
When no one is watching, it asks you to dance
:
And as it accepts every slight of your hand
Your freedom is taken, replaced with demand
:
The things that were told you along every step
Are what you will use to redeem every theft
:
Collections continue, the army in droves
A walking commandment, a conquering prose
How do you measure the weight of your words?

What's the ******* deal
Karma
even when blood leaves my veins
for a honorable cause it ends in vain
even when I stay vigilante on my ****
it's like my ***** are getting kicked
and all I hear is
"Keep your head up, things get better
good things come to good people"
then where's the ******* good?
I'm broke, can't get classes, can't afford food
and I'm not spending on a whim
I budget, I save
but here I am a wage slave
**** it Karma
you are just like all the fake religions
follow their opinions and end in heaven
just like lucky number seven
or wishing on a shooting star
last time I did that I wished for
"All my friends and family to be safe and happy"
a week later Eddie died in a car
My faith is gone, just like my happiness
put out, shut down, left to rot
and to think I thought
being a hardworking, noble person
got you somewhere
