the price we pay for beauty
sown in sweat and blood
etched upon our living skin
the uncomfortable art of
passion raw red will power
to sit and let it burn
pain is all in your head
god i want that tattoo buzz

it was all going to be better wasn't it?
new year
new brain
you sculpted it just right

it was all going to be better wasn't it?
clean scars
beating heart
your work was good
it even held for a while

it was all going to be better wasn't it?
flowers in my hair
now the beginning
not end
it was perfect
as perfect as you could possibly make it

but the people soon came along, my people (i think)
they melted me, with the heat of their burning bodies
and the fires that we burned into the lungs to make us feel alive

and then they left me alone, out in the cold
with only the piercing words of these icy snowflakes, to keep my body warm
this perfect sculpture you made of me is now all cracked and deformed

they really though i'd be fine (i hope)
but i was faulty from the start

now i am here for the harsh winds of winter
to whisper horrible things into my broken eardrums

and i'm afraid what i am made of will slowly be blown back to you
so that you can make a brand new sculpture out of these shattered pieces of clay
i wright more when things get bad

Lilacs are blooming
In the sunshine watch them sway
In the blowing breeze

the world doesn't need any more sour tears
especially not ones as precious as yours;
the only ones you should allow yourself to shed
should taste like laughter and sunshine and summer rain.

I fell in love
with the girl with
auburn hair.
She wore her wool coat
tied tight around her
waist as she held
a cigarette
slowly drawing on it,
making the embers
glow brilliantly in the dark.
I stared into her eyes
that cascaded into marvelous
pools of renowned beauty,
that had been structured perfectly,
by the gods themselves.
These eyes were untouched by
human hands.
She gave me a smile and
we talked for hours about
nothing
as I watched her
draw me in, along
with every puff of that
cigarette,
and together we burned,
down to the filter,
as we were flung to the ground,
and crushed effortlessly,
under her foot.
