Discarded matchsticks
(blackened heads
like
frostbitten flesh):

road flares tracing
the path of an accident.

We live

between

the silences

and after
      every kiss
we part
    embarrassed adolescents.

Liberation feels good
Freedom feels great
Self-expression is blooming
Even on these lazy days
I occupy my time with
Happy stories of the past
I twiddle my thumbs
With a complacent smile
Etched upon my face

A warm brew
music,

laughter,

You.

the daisy head lays bear
but I'm unsure it's prophecy
as I sit and ponder there
how can a flower know the heart
or feel the pain of ache
and yet I fear it's honesty
as I feel my poor heart break
all day within the meadow sat
one thousand daisies dead
and still my love lies bleeding
because of what they said
she loves me she loves me not
what cannot speak can't lie
and like their petals in the wind
my love as passed me by

My kiss in the morning,
my love through the night,
these arms when you need them,
hold my body tight.
My song when you are sad,
my laughter when you're mad,
I can only offer so much,
but please
take all I have.
I wish I had more.
