Mr E May 2019
If only there was a way to know
When you were in the good ole days
So you could enjoy them
For all that they were

If only that were true
And we could appreciate those
Warm distant days
When we thought life was timeless
Mr E Oct 2015
From the beginning they were beaten
As peasants they were whipped
Babies who'd never eaten
No fine wines were ever sipped
So they rose against their oppressors
Burnt the kingdom down to dust
But now with newfound aggressors
The cycle spun as it always must
Mr E Jul 2020
The night was warm on that beach
As we trudged along that boarded path
Ocean breeze swayed the trees
And for a moment we hung in time

The moon light lit the golden brown beach
As the far off city lights twinkled
Ocean breeze swayed the trees
And for a moment we forgot the time

Ocean water is cool at night across the dunes
The bugs come out but we didn't mind
Ocean breeze swayed the trees
And for a moment our worries subsided

We all jumped in the water, into the salty broth
We laughed and we carried on
Ocean breeze swayed the trees
The moment I cherish but now it is gone
Mr E Nov 2020
You can feel a tear welling up inside you
A pressure behind your eyes
And you know
Your eyesight blurs and your nose starts to run
And you try to hold those tears back

It's a beautiful thing to cry
To mourn
To sob quietly within
Because your mind is not in control
Your soul takes the reigns
And tears start to roll

Pure emotions start to flow
And for an instant
You are you
For an instant you realize
How much you cared
Cared enough to cry

Crying is something we tend
To be embarrassed by
But I think crying,
Releases your inner you
And it shows how overcome
A spirit can be
Mr E Mar 2019
Never stop running
Where the ground kisses the sky
Catch the Horizon
Mr E Oct 2015
He sat on the sidelines and waited
Watching the people go by
Neither was he loved nor was he hated
But only a quaint passerby
From where he was he saw all that happened
But said nothing all the same
He was an onlooker who always looked onward
Quietly from the stands cheering on the game
Mr E Jan 2019
There is a tranquility to waiting
Some know they're waiting
Others don't and they sit there
Sometimes forever

Some wait for better days
For things they can't change
But those who truly love
Know the burdens of waiting

Children carry the weight of waiting
Wives and husbands
Parents
All waiting for different reasons

Eventually, the waiting ends
Children wait to grow old and fall in love with their passions
Newlyweds wait for an end they never want
And parents wait to finally let their offspring fly

We all wait for something
Though we know it or not
The world seems in a standstill
Yet when the wait is over
We can only ask where did all the time go?
Mr E Jun 2019
For me,
The most beautiful women
Are the ones who reveal the least.
They are mysteries,
Leaving much to the imagination.
Mr E Mar 2013
Power corrupts but yet we strive to ****** it within our grasp
Plans and devious traps we set to make those behind us stumble
How much does power cost to lose our minds or be much less than humble?
Why do we need to push others on the rails to get what we desire?
Casting them onto the road to be smashed,
We only turn away and smile
Standing strong and looking high
Up to those dreams we are programmed to obtain
Yet we fail to see all the hurt around us, nor the pain
The things we are taught, to look to the sky and do what needs to be done
Rather than what can be done
Told we can be anything when we grow up
But the unspoken truth you should be this or that
Our system needs to help those in need
Not the ones that are already on their way.
Mr E Sep 2014
Not all who smile are happy
Like the setting sun
Radiant as it dips to soft slumber
May shine brighter than any fluorescent star
Yet its warmth wanes and becomes but a floating orb
A coffin chiseled to perfection
A tombstone polished and secure
Yet inside a rotting face
Inside a forgotten man
Like a piano whose lost its voice
Each key, an unworldly pitch
A Steinway without a perfect note
Collecting dust in the corner room.
A singer without a song
A french model without a face
A man with a contagious smile
In the end it does not appear so...
Not all who smile are content
Mr E Apr 2024
Come closer, I must tell you
Something before this all ends

I see a despair that dances in your eyes
A weight that burdens your shoulders

It screams through your gaze
Yet your mouth stays shut.

Let me tell you something
About this pain

Pain comes in many forms
It comes as loss and betrayal

It comes as failure and sometimes pure accident

Sometimes, pain takes the form of you

And that kind of pain
Where you have convinced yourself
That you are the source

Can ****.
Mr E Sep 2012
Through the light
of pale shade grey
There will come another day
When men fight men
****** battles afar
and fools search for a brighter star
Ash and soot is second skin
and tears of children wash their face
A day, a day , of a dooming place
When church bells ring to sound alarm
and the shrieks of metal tearing apart
Smoke covered feelings of those victims of war
The houses and families no more.
Anger and hate send bullets ablaze
and fires ravage this place
Kings and Monarchs live in fear
for their machines know what is clear
no feelings nor emotions resound in our creations
Bound to destroy
all the nations.
Mr E Oct 2014
It started with a cough
A sneeze
Heavy chest
Runny nose and weary bones
Aching muscles and sore throat
Until it bled and the body slowed
A pain that throbbed within your head
Where it oozed and seeped through patchy skin

The doctors rushing, nurses swift
A cord in arm and sleepy drift
Beeping notes and flashing lights
For soon the day came from the night
And as sun did rise, there came the cries
Of a world infected with the germ
As bodys heaved and limbs did squirm

And as it spread, the stench rose high
From city streets to countryside
Sirens wailed and systems failed
And disease took refuge-
In all who walked-

As blood spewed forth
From cluttered throats
Bodies filled the dug out moats
Without avail
From poor to rich the germ had no care
As man grasped to decaying hair

Birds fell from the sunny skies
Trees no longer, in full bloom
And the world stood still
For as life dies
Silence is only left to stay

There was no cure
No antidote
No compromise
No chance
And man died off without word
Without a sound to echo time
We died the same way as we slept
Silent
Mr E Dec 2015
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled,
was tricking the world he did not exist.
The greatest trick God ever pulled,
was tricking the world that he did.
Mr E Feb 2013
I awoke in a field of pure gold
Swaying in the breeze
The sun shined upon my breast
And warmed the earth around me
Laying in a field, of sweet serenity
I wished I had not woken up
For that dream was good to me.
Mr E Jun 2013
Do we not strive to find some solace and some peace
Digging holes, exploring places to find that missing piece
Many a wandering people desire their true love to be revealed
A shy poets creative mind, where extraordinary thoughts are secretly concealed
Do we not strive to find that perfect tune whose note reflects our own face
Scouring hills, treading mountains, to find our sacred place
Some may plod along their paths for many months, many year
Eventually they grow content, doubt no longer fear
We find our hope in not what we want but more so in what we realize
Looking back on what has already passed and finding happiness in the journey through our eyes
Mr E May 2013
Perhaps someday I'll love
A girl
Who will love me all the same
And without shame
Say she loves me back
...Perhaps...
Mr E Aug 2021
Perhaps you won’t be everything that you wanted to be
Perhaps you will fall more times than you want
Perhaps she won’t love you back
Or perhaps your best will never be good enough
Perhaps you won’t get hired by your dream job
Perhaps you’ll be mediocre at what you love to do
Perhaps you’ll sweat and cry for little results
Perhaps you think these things weigh you down
And sink you to the bottom of the sea
Or perhaps
They won’t, as you refuse to stay down.
Mr E Feb 2013
Your charm surely caught me by surprise,
That beach blond hair, those sky blue eyes
Perfect smile and pearly whites
You were an angel to the world
But it seems you aren't what many think
I see right through that mask you wear
But I am not here to belittle your name
I only sit back and observe
Mr E Nov 2015
It is ironic,
how men deal with Gods.
They pray to one,
with loving words
and are loyal to their faceless deity.
But if one came
to claim the earth as its own,
showing itself for the world to see,
men would fight it.
Because when one can put a face to a god,
they will never bow their heads.
Mr E Aug 2014
Life is like a glass of pills
Not like the chocolates in the box
Because sometimes you know what you've got
But you don't truly know if you want it
Mr E Dec 2012
As you look down on those less prominent than you
As you scoff at their broken hands and soul
As you fall drunk under your own powerful might,
I shall pity you full
As you whisper your hateful remarks,
And eye for your friends for support,
As your lies seep from your venomous mouth
I shall pity in remorse
As you stride forth
And wave your hands high,
To those who think you’re a god
I only wish they could see who you truly are,
And witness the fall of a fraud
I pity you and your habits,
The meek smile you slap on that face
The person you always could have been,
Instead of a man fallen from grace
I hope you realize some day,
The world doesn’t revolve around you
But as you drown yourself in arrogance deep,
I shall always pity you.
Mr E Jun 2019
Dreams provide a glimpse of who we are.
Within that pocket of reality,
In that dilation of time,
We are trapped with nobody,
But ourselves.
Where no one can judge us
Where no one can do us harm
Dreams are where we are truly free
Mr E Oct 2021
What if we never died?
What if there was no such thing as a brief life?
Nor a tragic end?

Would we feel meaning in the things we do?
Or value in the loves we cherish?
If nothing ended, would anything retain its value?

Could we really live for the end of days?
And find the light as radiant as always before?

If we never feared an end to it all?
Would our experiences diminish to nothing?
Perhaps the loom of death gives a gentle push
And the grim reaper waits idly by
Watching with fervor to see our many accomplishments
As we race against his pocket watch of destiny
Mr E Oct 2014
Life is like an unbreakable glass
Where you can see what lies beyond
And as close what looms behind that wall
Your hands shall never hold it
Mr E Apr 2013
Its the spur of the moment feel
When man makes his most radical choices
On that thin thread he bravely waltzes
Across the tight rope of his life--
Sometimes he falls while others times makes it
And what amazes me so
The will of man
For he gets back up and tries again
With confidence in his heart
Mr E Oct 2015
It's hard to throw away
even the smallest of gifts or things.
Or place old photographs away.
Because when I touch these things,
feeling them.
Rereading the old notes from years ago.
I remember the feelings I had, the people I knew.
And as the past comes flooding through
I remember who I was.
Even the tiniest of things
can stop me cold and force me to remember.
Mr E Jan 2016
Man has sought for things he can't have
and what a sad venture it has been.
Clawing for a an end,
fighting for the last chapter,
he has dug for gold he'll never find.
Man deluded himself.
Because this is the way of the world,
the way the clock works or
how the sun shines.
There is a price to all things
and so
the price of man having happiness
is paid
in the end
with despair.
Mr E Dec 2021
Look now and see your own demise
When in the past you were full with pride
Gluttonous on the spoils of accomplishment
As you consumed without fail, without end

But as all things are
Like crests and troughs
The highs always reflect the lows
And your consumption became a weight
That now drags on your legs
Like a ball and chain

Those who fly too close to the sun
Who ride on the winds of favor
Singe their wings and fall back down to earth

I write this to welcome you back to reality
To remind you that all kingdoms fall
And that your prideful gluttony has now taken its toll
Chaining you to the ground
Beneath all those you once looked down upon
Mr E Oct 2015
Give a man a weapon
And he shall use it
Not because they choose to
But because it is in their nature
Violence runs through their blood
Throbbing in their souls
Mr E Feb 2013
We say we want to smash the walls that keep the world apart
Dismantle all the hatred, laying dormant in our hearts
We say we want to crack the glass which divides us all the same
Even though our own misfortune, dissevers us with shame
We say we want a tranquil world a landscape rid of scorn
Yet we raise our idols up for humble followers to adorn
We say what comes to mind, much more thinking over feel
Losing track to what is fake and ignoring what is real
We say the world is so much more
You're the ones who open the door
We say many things but no action occurs
We are a people with too many words
Mr E Feb 2016
Man was born to build
and to create his own wonders to call it his.
That is why we love progress so much,
which is why we always want to make something new.
To call something ours
and to be proud.
This is why man must go on.
Mr E Apr 2020
Pure heart
Unclouded mind
Within and not apart
Together we'll find

From the ashes we rise
On phoenix wings we soar
Above the twisted, seething lies
Down below, souls we abhor

Purest hearts
And clearest skies
Within not forgot
Above evil, buzzing flies

Together we are salvation
Together, glorious and free
With purest hearts, we are a nation
With unclouded minds we'll always be
Mr E Jun 2024
In our feeble existence as a waning empire
We have achieved more destruction
Than any life or prosperity we have created.

I care not for a nation, who stands for hope
To the suffering masses
When in fact, that very nation is the author of their pain
And a benefactor of their sufferings.

The days of national pride are myth and they always were
For pride in a country founded on the killing of others
Pride in a nation built by nameless souls, shackled into slavery?
Merely bygones of an age where cruelty was commonplace
As we now live a facade of a lie our grandfathers told

And I hear you
Why bite the hand that feeds you?
Why speak at all when you benefit from the very thing you detest?
Alas, here we are.

Two fools who both benefit from the death of others
Squabbling amongst ourselves, when we all have been deceived
Deceived to argue
To disagree

Because what better way to keep the channels running?
What better way to clog your thoughts and turn your heart?
Then to begin the age old battle between "Us v. Them"
But yet, we always fall for the same ploy

I no longer recognize this place anymore
And I feel hopeless to change it.
Mr E Apr 2021
Unlike the flowers in the field
Or the trees within the grove
Loneliness is the crop I yield
Surrounded by many, yet still I rove

For flowers have fields of friends
An abundance of varied bloom
Beautifully blossomed at their ends
Loved for their perfume

Trees breathe life into the air
Magnificent and tall
Capturing all the eyes that stare
And mourned for when they fall

These thoughtless trees and silent herbs
Seem to be more loved than I
Like forgotten trashed kicked to the curbs
My purpose isn't worth the cry

I feel aimless in the wind today
Like a ship without a sail
Perhaps tomorrow that feeling shall flutter away
But today, no purpose seems to avail.
Mr E Apr 2013
What would it take for you to care?
The reader of this piece.
To spark an emotion deep within your inner soul?
I could say my friend and I were close
But that general  story would not turn head
And you would forget you had read this at all
What if I gave him a name?
A name that gave him purpose to me
To identify his broken body
For me to nod my head at the call of this--name
His name was Mathew
And though I could not be there when it happened
I write to you, to say I wish I knew more of him
I wish I had understood his smile
But a year ago, in the warm air of summers bubbling evening
A man decided to let drink drive for him
And a body lay on the street
They called him Cheese, for he always smiled
A natural smile that warmed the room
And every day I want to say
That I wanted to know you a little more
Your brother and I had been friends but never
Close to call "Best" friends
But your family was always good to me
And I saw you from time to time
In retrospect I knew your humor
The hearty laughs I'd hear in your house
And even if I knew nothing of what was funny
I smiled
And laughed as well
Your father coached me numerous times
The basketball court never failed to hold
His compassion and love for the game
I know he loved you all the same
And someday I may see you
And I will introduce myself with name
And we will be in a better place
Void of sad thoughts and earthly pain
Mr E Aug 2014
The pictures in my mind
Always bursting with color and wondrous light
But when they journey to the real world
They fade to grey and white
Mr E Nov 2013
My breath rose above my head, the cold gushing into my lungs
The wind rattled the barbwire fence as I waited there so quiet, so alone
The warm cup of coffee rested in my hands, its aroma engulfing my station
I looked out over the barren fields in which I was positioned to look over
I could see the watch tower high, above the roofs and chimneys vast
Snow began to fall, large flakes and eddying flurries
Getting up from my seat I gazed out at winters first storm
A ****** war it had been, so many soldiers lost, friends and families gone
Wind seemed to pass through my jacket, it whipped my cheeks and brow
I needed only to clear the trek of land between the wall and the brush, I ran
Hoisting my gun upon my shoulder I walked out onto the ledge
I spotted a shadow dancing through the light, I called out but it was no use
"Stoppen!" I hear through the scream of the wind, I looked back for only a second
The lone guard reaching his hand across the rail, begging me to halt
Stop I say, as I grasp my cap, Please stop or I will shoot
I lift my gun around my head and **** back the metal bolt
Ground beneath me thumps against my boots
And the guard's voice is no longer heard
My hands do tremble in the cold, but also from the sorrow
I aim down my sights and with a loud ring the rifle lets out a howl
I tell myself I am finally free, from the jail which held me back
I feel a sting in my shoulder and I fall to the powdered ground, my  scarf falls off of my neck
The runaway then loses his footing and slumps to the ground without noise
*I dip my head low and carry on with my duties, as the snow is painted scarlet red
Mr E Jun 2019
I hear so many say they have regrets
How they should have travelled more
Done something differently
Not done something
Did more
Less

I hear so many regret aspects of their lives
How willingly they would be to change them
For better
Or worse
Who really knows
Their regrets hold an irony however.

If not for the choices they made then
How could they be so sure
That the person positioned there
Regretful of their entire life,
Would be there now?
You are the person you build yourself to be.

I'm thankful for the person I am now
For there is no wrong choice in the end
The regret that fuels the illusion
Of what you could have been
Is a silly concept to entertain
I am who I am and I'd want it no other way.

This piece is a testament to that.
Mr E Feb 2018
The Body lives much like the Earth
an organism, a breathing thing.
All the while it proves its worth
A life vessel, a circular ring.

From earth we rise and dust we fall
with years just in-between
And though you leave over garden wall
through cycles you return to us, younger and pristine

The Mother Earth calls to us
some call it God or One
We all return to her again
A fate seldom outrun
Mr E Jul 2019
It's ok to roll the dice.
Maybe once,
Maybe twice.
Some bad decisions
Will break the vice,
Of always holding back.

Don't be afraid
To take some risks
Cause even though
It's for the worse
An answer in the end is best
For the "What if" question
Always hurts

Mr E Jan 2018
If a single man committed the worst crime
To save the entire world
How would the world view him?
Questions like these
Make it impossible to not thoroughly
Unquestionably
Marvel Humanity
Mr E Jan 2014
When ships set sail, their masts held high
Daunting flags, painting the sky
With rails gold rimmed
And sails sharp trimmed
A crowd appears, waving adieu, goodbye
Thunderous roar, unequaled praise
Wind catching sheets
Anchors raised
A bell rings softly and waves do lap
Against the hull of a wooden throne

From far off shores this scene is spied
With two friends of oars we've always tried
To reach for that deck
In fervent eye
Climb on board or surely die
Tattered clothes, sailors cap
Smudge on cheek
Shirt of burlap
We push off deck
Yet crowd is gone
A journey ventured with bright sun dawned

Water ripples with our wake
Small and steady pulses we make
Though we row to catch schooner bold
As we creak of wooden old
Land gestures for us to stay
Why venture out on choppy bay?
Whispers roll and caustic laugh
With sun beat oars a line is set
No motive sweeter, nor regret
Sweat beads mix with salty froth

Cutting across the water green
Battleship chugs with billowed steam
A voice escapes you as you scream
Sputtering away, with muted cries
And oars but stop
Far from home
As head does drop
Splintered hull tears apart
We're left to cling to shattered planks
And fight to stay afloat

Alone
With far off yacht a speck
Atone for water slapping neck
We groan with defeated boat and deck
Driftwood in salty surf
Connecting with shore
We walk back to land
Imprints swallowed by golden sand
A new rowboat to be procured
Again we build to flag down our Brig
And stand upon its polished bow
We persist to where we are but now
As we strive to grasp victory bell
We strive ever onward
To sail with our destined
Caravelle
Mr E Jun 2014
I realize now the world is rules
Regulations to keep us in check
Fundamentals to our daily lives
And oh so how we fuss and fight
These rules will always win
I realize now this world needs discipline
Orders to keep us straight and firm
Where one man fails
Another helps him up
And together these rules bind us all
So hail my brothers to regulations and rules
Hail to the strict code of truth!
As we fall in place to these guideline laws
We shall never fall down again
Stand straight
Speak soft
Bow
And introduce yourself in full!
No lower can be tolerated
No flaw or change of pace
Rules are set and now inscribed
Forever shall we prosper
Mr E Sep 2020
Why would I run through the gale for you?
When all you do is make me cry?
After all that you have put me through
Sometimes I wonder if you try

Why would I soak myself?
Through the sheets of rain
As you put my heart up on the shelf
You stay dry while I'm damp with pain

There was a time I would run after you
When the harsh winds and showers mattered not
Long ago when your character was true
Before my heart began to rot

Before the mold ate away what was once there
Now sour tastes and bitter tang
Back when we were warm and fair
Now from the rafters my heart does hang

I do not think I would step outside today
While maelstroms crash and strain
I choke on these words but I must say
I would not run after you through that soaking rain.
Mr E Oct 2021
The ruthless will devour you
Yet you will not even know it happened
Until the jaws begin to close
And the light begins to dim
The curtain draws and the clapping ends
By the time you realize
What that ruthless man has done

It will be utterly too late

For the pieces will have been moved
The pawns all sacrificed
And the dreaded realization will set in
That you were just a spectator to the game

And not even worth being called a piece
At all
Mr E Dec 2012
The trees are bare and naked
As they shiver in the winds biting lashes
The soft chirp of the summer bugs, gone.
The dark comes quicker and the sun hides behind a faraway horizon,
Even the grass finds itself a paler shade of green, the flowers (their inhabitants)
No where to be found.
Clouds rush past my view, running to stay ahead of winters chill
This is surely winter
And I have no appointment being here.
Mr E Sep 2012
Hushed words whispered, in the dead of night
Causing a stir in that ghostly town
Lies twisted and mangled
Between the limbs of trees surrounding these poor souls
A hunt to find who is right but telling the tale of who is left
Hung on the limbs of the trees that surround these poor souls
Do the innocent find themselves swaying in the breeze.
Mr E Dec 2012
Lives cut short
Gone
Lost but never forgot
These times leave a fresh cut
On the arms of humanity
Words could only begin to explain
A tragedy
A villainous crime
Let us find a solution to our problems
And hold one another close till the end of time.
Mr E Apr 2019
I am often made fun of
As I go about the life I lead
To treat others the way
I wish all would be treated

But I have grown to realize
That reciprocity
Is of seldom importance
To many you meet in life

Half of me says to be cold
To treat others the way
They treat me
But the other half says otherwise

All throughout this internal struggle
As I argue with myself on how to be
By the time I'm done arguing
I realize the moment is gone

I lost my chance altogether
I also never know how to respond
Because I've never had the experience
As I'm always caught in doubt

I've become terrible at relationships
I don't know how to act
I make a fool out of myself often
But please just bear with me

I'm bad at all this relationship stuff
But you help me
You make me realize the treasures
Of relying on another.
