as splinters in a finger
or ripples in water
feeling her fingerprints
etching her
on the back of my eyelids
the suffering of millions
condensed in a compound word
goodbye
a tear escape as she walks away
and carries itself across every terrain
hoping she'll caress it with soft hands
simply following

Deck railing with marks
From arms long laid on them
Sun spots flowed over skin
Visions of past lives in the field across
Where we once ran
Nostalgia is truly poison
So young yet trapped
inprisoned so deep
In a mind I carry
The weight of the moon
stars and earth alike
How I wish to break free
To be separate from it all
But when soul turns flesh
I stay for a while longer
Hoping to view my prison
From a third person point of view

She stands there
Scythe in hand
Cuts me down and asks for soul
In the wound I dig
The heart pulls out with ease
And I offer myself one more time
Hoping she may spare me
But her boots were stained red
From the many sacrifices before

A river between us
becomes a coast
when drowning in tears
A seashell at my feet
