There are things to do
And places to go
But I'm not sure exactly
Where to go
Or what to do
But I can feel it in my bones
The need to answer those
Unasked questions
Is that normal
Am I experiencing wanderlust
So much to do
I think.

I have bad thoughts
I want them gone
But their terrible stains
Like grape soda
On a white suit
I have all sorts a chemicals
But they don't do the job
So I buy a tie
Get it just right
And pray no one sees it.

it seems so wise
so full of good sense
a nice bit of advice
yet on a second
maybe even third
or fourth thought
I realize its madness.

When I stand in
picturesque settings
All I notice
are the shadows
lurking
just to the side
not quite out of frame.

Just drop everything and run
when the unpleasantness comes
such sage advice

we are made to cling
to our stuff and our people
we truly are
even when all we have
is pain and trouble.
