I bet a few can

would just prefer

where they are

To be fair
some cages
are very big
and some cages
have bars you can't see

tiny dead eyes
and a wooden body
they posses teeth of crushing

waiting and watching
for what
for who
nobody knows

nutcrackers
the evil kin
to toy soldiers
and friend to puppets.

they stand so tall
far above me
and honestly
they're only
comparatively tall
I'm tempted
to take an axe to them
bring them down
to my level
but that would be wrong
might be fun
but wrong
so the wise thing
perhaps even
the right thing
is probably just
stay where I am
unless

Free to drift where they will
and hunted by very few
They have no spine but do just fine
And some are quite deadly
if you're into that sorta thing.

a lot of hate
rather unfairly
I dare say
they're just animals
they aren't sin incarnate
and they aren't really satanic
hell Garter snakes
are pretty cute
and the golden lancehead pit viper
has flesh melting venom
which is awesome
