the broken things

and the elegant ball room
is once more just a ruin
if only the music never stopped.

A naked angel
and an ***** fiend
place bets on how
all this silliness will end      
not that either
really has anything
to wager with.

Humans are machines
all of these by degrees
we build ourselves homes
that restrict the freedoms we crave
so we destroy to build again
that can't last forever
but then nothing can.
