Inspector Dork was not pleased with himself

he had interrogated everyone in the house
only to be knocked down by
impenetrable alibi

Spouse Susan slept soundly through the night
and was awakened in the morn
when the alarm bell rang in his room

Daughter Debby's room was a floor down
she was up with her studies
plugged to earphones

Son Simon was out for the night
he was at his friend's place
for a birthday party

Maid Maddie made his bed
when the clock in his master's room
was chiming ten

Butler Bill having served a glass of milk
closed the door behind him
and retired for the night.

Inspector Dork was about to leave the victim's room
when his eyes fell on the clock pendulum

it was not swinging

he knew who was lying.

My morning chaw of Levi Garrett was thirty minutes of superb pleasure ..
At peace in God's chosen country of Dove , Killdeer , morning dew and rolling hayfields , the smell of turned earth and afternoon Summer showers , the taste of green grass and blackberry in one precious plug , a working mans companion the whole year through .. A pack on the tractor , one at the barn door and one at the nightstand where my weary bones took ease at sundown ..

Looking though opaque curtains
at the fog setting delicate.
Placing gently droplets of condensation
ever so gracefully atop individual
blades of grass.
Barely audible
whistles travel through space
softly capturing my ear
and gifting me with the morning song
of a Lark or Turn.
Breathing deeply,
the surroundings fill me
and a smile passes
over my lips…
thankful and connected
to the land and life around me
on this new day
I experience contentedness.

A cold nose shocks my finger tip……

The old lab looks up,
near smiles,
and we share
the moment.
