Sitting on
leaf litter
at the river bank

Spirits of those
once known
half forgotten

Drift by.

People stones animals
plants and objects
drifting by

Whisper hallo
wave goodbye

Yes
I laid you
Egg words
Soft round
Full of paternal
Love
*****
Yolk

Yes
I scooped out
Sand and
Covered you
Turtles
On the beach

And now I roam
The sea
And your words
Shell your little
Webbed legs

Alone
Mike Adam Aug 2016
There is no need
To be so pretty

Just to exist
Is enough
Mike Adam Aug 2016
Heaved aboard-
lay flat on your back
on swabbed and
polished deckboards
and watch the white
sails fill

As we sail into dawn,
red and yellow banners
counter intuitive,
streaming ahead of our
godspeed.

Unwrecked,
rescued,
lifted from fossil sea

Powered by wind
to cut wine-dark waters
homeward
bound roped and rigged

And freedomed
Thanks to Leatitia for her comment on Wreckage, which prompted this.

With your own breath

Bringing dead language

To life.

Speak
Speak
Speak

The language
Stolen
Suppressed

The colonial
The PC
And
The new Puritan.

Speak I say
And write-

Miracle can
Does
Happen

With breath

We all find our own
Rocky road to hell.

Some unspool thread
Or scatter bread-
Crumbs

To sustain the way home.

For some it is beatrice
Angelically swaying

For me it Lady J

Patiently waiting

Of existence

Nobody without spirit
(What - no
Volition?)

Molecules hum
With
Spherical dance

Stone so alive

Syncretic syncopation

Holistic fear and
Ec-stasis

Flowers of

Origin of life-

Tidal hole
Pulled by moon
Fed by sun

Collector of
Infinite grains from
Unimaged space
Mike Adam Sep 2017
Mountain water plashing down steeply through and over rocks.

Somersaulting obstacles

Life so easy without resistance

And the cool pool below to venture through,

Sea beckoning a million leagues below.

Restlessness
Rested
And the slow
Fast tumble into dark

Waiting
waiting

Mike Adam May 2016
Protruding roots

against the grain

Tears by the lake
abandoned turtles

Dawn prevaricates-
reluctant to break

But mynah beaks open
their cacophany amongst
rustling bamboos

Dogs stretch and yawn
nuzzling to run in the
relative cool

I wait

Let light encourage
Snake to slither home
to burrows, fat from
night feed
in they squeeze

Full moon round as cheese
sinks stately behind
the promontory

On turning
sun drips honey
over greened mountains

Five islands sit-
their time will come

As mine, alas
has gone

It rains diamonds
On saturn

Perhaps these scales

Irridescent in
Hard light

Emanate from there.

Momma bear twirls
In white ecstatic dance
On polarised ice

Cub rotates in
Pirouette
Waiting to eat

This fish flops
At your feet

Gasping for air

Emboldened
Sacrificial protein

(Left igloo
Unaware

The raging gale
Blew away my hair)

Piscine bone
Zen marrow

My all my all

With quill on parchment
scratch to me your love
my love

With ink-stained fingers
ribbon fold your love
to me my love

With blood- drippedink-
well trace your love
across your breast
my love

With humble skill
I share with thee my love
my one sweet love

Do not fret
Over
Scribbles on paper

It is only
Madness leaving
The mind

Through the pen.

Of fluff

Make with hammer

Soothing marble to

We are the rodents
Of evolution

Eating herbiage to
Incubate machines

Admire this
Handiwork

Soon no flesh
Shall be torn

No shattered souls
Nor hearts of
Young girls

(Young girls I
Repent and
Weep for you)

Revolving digits shall

Did you see
My portrait?

Tiny figure in a corner of
Mountains and lakes

This is who I am

Future has already
Happened.

Peer far enough
Back telescopic

And see it play

The crack in time
Dark as the tunnel
Ends
And

Light floods out
Arc light ark
Light

And inexpressible joy

Dust swirls
time
As girls hitch skirts
To dance

Sacred seeds of time
Rehearsing dust in
Mote patterns of
Mute destiny and

The future has
Been the main event
Billions of times
Already

Harsh Sun throws our
Shadows sharp against
Flagstones.

Beside the Priory wall,
Brought low by Henrys' Hammer the
Abbott lies, long gone.

Just we two, Now, in
Silhouette-

Your walking stick tapping a
Military Tattoo,
My hat of Panamanian straw
To delineate our presence.

O History-
Goodbye

Surely the New,
Loosened from past embrace

Shall see lovely flowers linger
Just for this Sunny Day

Lincoln green robin
hoodwinking the
greedy rich

Feeding the poor
robin red breast
flaunting credentials
robbing the lady
marion
the little birds of their
flimsy
filmy honor

Little boy little
man-child john
little mowgli
conquering the jungle
conquering the tiger
riding imperious
the stark grey brown elephant

And backscratching bear
sleeping in the greensward
dancing with milady
tucking into supper of
fast arrowed stag

Hung out and dried
between devil trees
and huts afire

Across the brittle
yellow beach into
the deep blue sea

She moves like
A whisper

I feel her flush
My ear with a
Tickle brush
Of calligraphic pleasure.

You cannot exactly
See her

She moves like a
Breeze or
Jasmine scent

And then,
Gone,

Only the sweetened
Fragrance

Of a pure heart

In being

I shall praise the utter

Dreaming of oriental
opulence and power

Time to set fair
for the east

Luxuriate in foliage
screeching parrot
clawing blood
from shoulders
sore from labour.

Some day soon
the silk robe shall adorn
this shabby body
and a vast turban
studded with gems
will stiffen the neck
and tighten sinews
sagging from
riding bed
sick and imbibing
cheap wine.

Bring me the winged stallion

I must
must must
fly

Drawn into the vortex
Of your life

By a formulaic
'How are you'

Hoarding memories
Like misers
As if identity were
A Thing
A Table, measured
And crafted

2
Or Self-real
When the very
Galaxies with
Dizzying speed

Belie the very
Notion of
Being

Amorphous time
Boxed,
Bagged fog pieced in
Handy seasons

Anniversaries
Of Nothing,
Events
Commemorations,

A drubbing of history
And nullification
Of failure.

Counting

Lava of my youth
Cools,
Breaks brine surface.

You haul your
Scale tail
Onto rock,

Produce mirror
And comb somehow

And sing;

Lighthouse *******
Flashing,

Lure street urchins
To doom.

Holed hulls, wooden,
Br'ken masts
And skeletons,

You immortalise them all;

Evolving starfish
A coral girdling
Your navel

BANG

Thrown billions of
Light years out
Up down round and
Round

Lost count at ten billion

Face scorched by fire
Back frozen by ice

Sick from planetary spin
Wanting to break free
Of same old
Ellipse

Become
Not asteroid obviously

Perhaps a comet
With orange tail
Trailing from my

Show me still water
And a flat stone
Worn and beached
From beyond oral history.

Show me and wonder
At one two three
Four five six seven
Bouncing flights.

I want to dive deep,
Retrieve
That champion flatstone

Carry it home in sandy pocket

Keep it with found marbles

For life

Gaudy handles
Painted coastal scene

Varnish crackling
Under so many
Sweet little
Sweaty palms

Dainty feet
Dancing at mid point-

And from what deep echo
Emanates
The simple
Skipping rime-

The unborn-
Young girls with
Granny rope and
Long rotted dead
Roped vertically
Together
