A Book is Seldom Wasted
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
A Book is seldom wasted
Upon an open mind
One perspective percipient
By wisest words refined
Each chapter swallows up the world
Each word is like a thread
You are more attuned to the world at large
For all that you have read
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
I heralded that first flower
Resplendent in the Spring
And hearkened to the Robin's tune
Her stunning carolling

I thought there is no mortal joy
Comparable to this
The tune without words deploys
The most beatific bliss

I dared not interrupt her
For fear that I might startle
Her delicate, timid soul
And end her tender warble

I could not bear a world
Where I would be denied to swoon
To Nature's passionate music
Lifting souls like a Balloon

Another Kind Of Sense
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Madness is another kind of sense
Attuned to inconsistencies
Her logic is just sideways
It's one of life's mysteries
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
I lived for Justice - but in vain
For she had been vanquished
By the defenders of the Satanic realm
Who banish us to anguish

I question, query, inquire
In to their malevolent schemes
They dampen the souls fire
And suffocate our dreams

And so I implore God's children
In missives to their souls
To rebel against the cynics
Who have them caged in walls
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
"Music" - is what cannot be taught
A Ribbon on the Breeze
Each note falls in supersession
Like Apples fall from Trees

My sad ears dote on each gay note
Abundantly they please
Melodies majestic
That treat and taunt and tease

A Poet Is A High Priestess
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
A Poet is a High Priestess
Ordained in Mystery
Making incredible sense
From the vaults of History

She sings the song that has the words
All poised like sitting ducks
Her logic is arcane and weird
She dabbles in love's luck

I'm the Other Woman
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
I'm the Other Woman - I'm done with that
That melancholy state
I'm suspended on string - I'm over that
It makes me most irate

How baffling his attitude
Behind it Ego lies
I think I'll be six feet under
Before he'll realise

That we could have lived in comfort
Instead he bore me pain
Bereft of love's sweet carolling
That mutual refrain
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
The Sky, discordian, like a Gong
Went shifting subtly by
The miniature Birds flit along
Going gaily through the Sky

Crescendo of the summer
Enchanting the Ear
Satisfyingly complicated
Mysterious and fair

Passion is my Province
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Passion is my Province
Bliss my Barony
Love is my Latitude
Death my Diocese
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Why do they spurn my advances?
Did I come on too strong?
But - I'm overwhelmed by Love
Indelible as Song

Why can't they just try me?
And dabble in my heart
But they think it's not to their taste
And so we stand apart

O, if I could hold thee
In the depths of night
I'd forbid myself another joy
For you are eternal delight

My Musings are Libations
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
My musings are libations
In rapid fashion - most
Sadly I lament thee
My Heart is but a ghost

It started with Flirtation
Its charm was thrilling me
But you plunged my Heart in to trepidation
Your nonchalance is killing me

He thinks he was a Hero
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
He thinks he was a Hero
So valiant and brave
But he lured me down a treacherous path
That most arrogant of Knaves

Heroics turned to villainy
As soon as my heart was caught
I'll never unlatch the hook
Though an escape was sought
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
This is my statement to my Love
Who never Loved for me
For being consumed by others
That sad epiphany

He is uncommitted
To the romance of the soul
For love of Him I've been committed
I won't repair at all

The anguish is tough
He made it clear, I'm not his dear
I'm not affected enough

The Juggler
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
The only thing I ever loved
Was placed just out of reach
Torturing with his presence
No change as I beseech

His Mind - was free of any stain
Lucid - and acute
His Eyes, pensive, mysterious
His Generosity I salute

His Hands - as skilled as Nature
His Gait - was staunch, like Trees
But I am an appalling creature
He has other people to tease

The Afterlife Is Beckoning
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
The afterlife is beckoning
It'll envelop you in perfect care
A transformation is happening
As you ascend the stair

One soul divine, indivisible
Unique and odd and rare
My own is a little better
For all that I saw there

If you should die
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
If you should die before we speak
And Death separates our selves
And Time goes on without you
Our grief as deep as wells
I'll regret to have neglected
To mention what you meant
But by Death you were intercepted
Before your life was spent
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
I'd like to live and live again
Unencumbered by affliction
When the first new breath begins
I'll breathe without restriction
And I am sure that when I live
What's pure in me survives
My deeds resonate in memory
And keep the best in me alive

Correspondence
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
My correspondence clutters
Your overloaded pigeonhole
My sorry soul has cast itself
In to the writing role
I beseech, implore and beg you
And seek your validation
Each letter an open plea to you
To end my heart's trepidation

My Life's an Exhibition
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
My Life's an Exhibition
Stripped bare for all to see
The weight of my contrition
Outweighs my joy and glee

All see my misdemeanours
And call back angrily
But I do not seek attention
It was you who chose seeing me

I was a little lovelorn
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
I was a little lovelorn
When disabused of the fraud
That us two would be united
In a coupling most odd
That hallowed soul I worship
Does not feel kin to me
It meanders now in solitude
I covet lustfully

My words make magic happen
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
My words make magic happen
Creating potent spells
That conjure the ineffable
And fathom poxy hells
Syntax refines meaning
Meanings deep as wells
Stacatto sound in symphony
A music that appeals

The Sauntering Mind
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
The Mind should always saunter
Like a Jacaranda flower
If the Mind is stationary
It stultifies and sours

Roving, roaming like a rainbow
An infinity in rings
The Mind is a wanderlust warrior
Most cherishable of things
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
I'll show you all my secrets
Their place is in my soul
Where my mysteries are harvested
Like apples in the fall

What Science Has Achieved
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
No fairytale can counter
What science has achieved
What's manifest is better
Than what begs to be believed

No doctrine can encumber
The forward march of Reason
Deepest wisdom consists
In truth's eternal season

No magick can outshine
The majesty of nature
She is fierce, sublime
A mezmerizing creature

Infinity is Immutable
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Infinity is immutable
Creation manifest
Through seemingly mundane matter
Run the fires blessed

Chaos weaves a tapestry
As we muse upon the sky
An infinity of multitudes
Go whirling, waltzing by

Mysteries
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Languishing in latitudes
Beyond the known frontiers
Are treasures unfathomable
Cherishable and dear

Hide behind its veneers
If you study, you'll perceive them
Like day, lucid and clear

Hope is the truest feeling
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Hope is the truest feeling
Borne aloft on fragile wings
She flirts and frolics in the atmosphere
Where all joy and all love sings

When I loved, dear, when I loved
Hope was a medicine to me
Neutralising the source of pain
And nursing tenderly

The jilted heart
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Firm feelings of abandonment
Betray a jilted heart
my frenetic fear is infinite
It has no end, no start

As if the flame of love
Has been starved of oxygen
It withers and diminishes
And waits to be kindled again

Let Her Fly

If you let her fly
And spread her bejewelled wings
Against resplendent sky

Borne aloft on gentle winds
They sweep amongst the stars
Going ever gracefully by
On gentle zephyrs

Euphoria
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
A bright rush of sensation
Sets my heart astir
I wallow in fond feelings
Of Euphoria

Passion cascades through me
Electricity's commute
From the body to the brain
Its aura I salute

Euphoria is transcendent
Knocks me flying sideways
I bask in it resplendent
For one touch, my heart ablaze

She captures and enchants me
I'm bursting bright with glee
I wonder, mind asunder
How I share this mood with thee
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Your spirit taught me gratitude
Myself bereft of it
For having been consumed by want
A habit with no merit

Your spirit taught me gratitude
Twas wonderful to feel
Stoking deep within my soul
Feelings most real

Your spirit taught me gratitude
Your spirit taught me grace
Your spirit taught me how to laugh
Sad memories erase

As if there's no tomorrow
I race in to the day
Yielding maximal joy
As the moments ebb away

As if the world is ending

I frolic like a faerie
And pledge myself to Fun

As if this moment were the last
I yield to eternal delight
And behold the passion in loved ones
Blazing, burnished bright

To build a dream
But only Science is suffice

My Moods Are Most Confusing
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
My moods are most confusing
Viewed from the outside
Borne aloft on potent waves
Of Emotion's tides

I struggle against the current
Surrender all control
Drowning in the waters
As the cold enters my soul

My moods must be confusing
And it must be cruel to see
A soul become a captive
To pain and misery

The fire in my art
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
The bough was but a trunk of fire
Cascading bright with sparks
Warming with her perfect flame
A halo in the dark

Twas gorgeous to behold it
And render it in sight
A vision of divine precision
Glowing, burnished bright

It stoked my fledgling passion
And kindled in my heart
Adding ever generous
To the fire in my art
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
You harness a talent, do you not -
A special skill that can't be taught
Conveying multitudes contained
In the purity of thought

You harness a talent, do you not -
A blessing from the divine
A talent that flowers and towers tall
Diminishing the stature of mine

You harness a talent, do you not -
The potency of your vision
Is such it's truly frightening
Dividing words with fission

You harness a talent, do you not -
Stay aside my stoop and sing
Your warm, effulgent songs of joy
Which give your life to everything
Megan Sherman Dec 2016

Beyond the reach of Yesterday
Are Futures subtly aligning
Untethered from the Errors
Of the past; they're undefining

As Yesterday yields to Tomorrow
We acquire fond Memories
Time testifies to all that's told
In Myth and Prophecy

A plethora of possibilities
Consists in Time's manifestation
The Future is abundant
We labour at its Creation

With One Smile
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
With one smile, love, with one smile
I became a captive for you
Through my heart a warm breeze blew
For having seen a soul so true
With one smile, love, with one smile

With one kiss, love, with one kiss
We danced resplendent in the shine
Of Lover's sun, we intertwined
I've never felt a soul so kind
With one kiss, love, with one kiss

With one embrace, love, with one embrace
You sent me flying sideways
One touch sent my heart ablaze
Enveloping me in Love's warm haze
With one embrace, love, with one embrace
Megan Sherman Dec 2016
Would angels walk upon the Earth
They'd walk with tender treads
Going silently between us
Weaving magic threads
That unite our souls invisibly
And embed in them a gentle flame
Which marks the soul indelibly
And gives it a golden frame

I wish angels would walk upon the Earth
But they're devoted to the sky
Where their spirits soar and saunter
Going ever gracefully by
But we are not without them
For their blessings pour on down
In the dreams they bring to me
I'd love to drift and drown
