i roll
my hope
into a joint
and light
up.
If you don’t seem to have much worldly ambition
and yet your life to date has been one of transition
as you move along without any clear steadfast decision
it’s like drifting about with no interest in any position.

There are many people who’re in the same boat
it’s a wonder how on earth they’re able to float
as the currents of life steer them here and there
making them go through things difficult to bear.

To live each day as it comes along without any plans for the future
isn’t so bad if you can get by and not be caught being a moocher.
Life doesn’t have any favourites and can be one compromise after another
as it really depends so much on what we think and do towards each other.

It’s very hard to always keep on the right track and so easy to go astray
as we’re lured in many different directions during the course of the day.
Though the tendency of all life is to go forward and make some progression
we should maintain a balance with nature being mindful of any regression.

Without a healthy desire to occupy our time here life can be a real drag
and any effort put forward in that direction we turn into habit and brag.
If we’ve built relationships with certain people they often do turn sour
in this age the emphasis is on enjoyment experienced within the hour.

As we look back then over our life all those years
and there doesn’t appear to be very many cheers
that we can associate with any good worldly success
it’s because without any ambition there’s no progress.

Committing is hard
Committing adultery?... Not so much
Oh, you want to act like I just crossed a line?
...Uhhh... I don't think I did... not so much
Relationship’s scarred
But you know how good that forbidden pleasure is… to place your hands on that which you’ve been told ‘ Do not touch’
You know it is true
Oh… you do know that, I know you do
You've been there before… you probably didn't even mean to score
But somehow you did
And she ended up in your bed
And…
Well, no need to get into detail… enough said
But wait, I just cannot stop there
This one is for the groom who, at the altar, vows as solemnly as he is able to swear
Never to betray his bride, but thinks... ‘well, depending on the level of hotness of the Au Pair’
Loyalty has a life span, and so does Trust
And what an enemy they have in this character called Lust
‘Tis  just but the truth I speaketh…  one that we see
Our mindsets should adjust drastically if we ever hope to be…
Free…
Of the possibility
That we might cheat…
For when I look around society at the moment, all I see…
Is a bunch of people with the potential to commit adultery
Oh! Oh!
You know it's true... 'Nobody knows where the nose goes when the doors are closed'... Oh! Oh!

*inspired by two lines from
'Quentin Briscoe'
when i was little i
wrote poetry about
                                                  bugs.
i watched them
dance through the evening
                                                  sky
and at the time i
thought that they were
                                                  free.
free, like i would grow up to be.

but i grew up and they
looked different to me
                                                  then.
the fireflies no longer would
dance for me, it was more
                                                  frantic.
like they were trapped,
schitzophrenic, in cages of their own
                                                  making.
and i felt pity for them.

but now i see
that we all have
                                                  cages
and while everyone
around me is finding their
                                                  escape
i feel lost
between these narrow
                                                  bars.
i've been here a long time

and i think i've
lost my
                                                  key.
weaving these paths with a lost sense of compass
insouciant stroll when leaves crunch under toe
earth and dirt, green smell

the sign says no horses
and an arrow points up

the sun's fingers comb
dry wood and ask:

what is complacency?

'Lost self-sense,' J said;
eyes drooping, Hoku mind heavy

if the turtle wants to feel the spirit
then he must walk slow

ride the current from
Indonesia to Ngulu
Jamming in the name of the Lord
like Robbie does

and identify renewed, redemption song
let us praise the Lord

the jungle is cleaning her feathers
she says: My favorite
I say: My pleasure

Laugh and pause--
no unheard cause

feel the light happening through you
and rebuild your pieces

dance me into entering waters

           (the sea)

i might dive or very cold
it is too hard(to swim

is though even steely wild
shifting ever for

grey and grey and

(the sea)
who is steely wild
and very cold entering waters

dance me into
