You tuck your hands under your chin,
Trying to keep the hurt locked in.
You ball your fingers into fists,
And cover the scars on your wrists.
You want to block out the world,
As you watch where the blood has pearled.
You're wishing someone would kiss your scars.
Your tears are as countless as the stars.
You fight to keep from crying,
Though you're so tired of trying.
You feel trapped behind your lies,
And weighed down by silent cries.
All you need is just one person to see
That you're not as okay as you seem to be...
Hmmm...maybe a cry out, or just an idea. Not quite sure. I just had to get it out though.
The Church is beautiful, a perfect white.
The Altar is magnificently lit.
Dozens of candles burn the sweetest scents.
The pews are filled with many bright-eyed guests,
The closest of Family in the front.
Ah! Finally the Orchestra begins.
The doors swing wide as “The Bridal March” plays.
The Beaming Bride is on her Father’s arm.
They start their stroll to the holy Altar,
Followed closely by the two Flower Girls,
Their cute pink dresses flowing in the breeze.
Ah! And there is the dapper Groom waiting.
He looks into his soon-to-be-wife’s eyes,
And she grins, now she finally has him.
He peers to his Best Man, who gives a smile.
The Groom relaxes, comforted by him.
The Music stops and the Groom lifts the veil.
The Priest begins the ceremony now.
As the Holy Man drones on, The Groom thinks.
He then steps down and speaks loud to the crowd.
Speaks of lies, tricks, of false and secret loves.
He steps to his Best Man and kisses him.
They embrace passionately through the gasps.
They join hands and run out of the Church doors.
They run off to their grand happy ending.
This is an attempt at blank verse. Enjoy!
The heart you took,
Stolen in the blink of an eye.
You left me gasping for air,
Praying for your own love,
To come take me away.

The heart you took, my love,
Shattered upon impact.
Broken into a thousand pieces,
Flung into the starry sky,
All alone in the night.

The heart you took,
Smiles a broken smile,
Shows the world no pain.
Pretends that everything is fine.
And it is.

It really is.
I tell myself its over.
That in a few months it won’t matter,
That this physical distance could somehow cure my pain.

But you hold me close.
Whisper empty words in my ear,
Use me once again to fulfill your lustful desires.

Then I’m invisible.
Breaking promises is your game,
Toss me aside to make room for the next player.

Now my heart is stone.
Numb to all feeling is my façade.
No one will ever damage me quite like you.
My heart lay bleeding at my feet
I stare as you tear it apart.
I stagger back as you take your walk alone.

You say you're off balance,
So I go and the sides are even again.
You won't miss me when I'm gone.

You were my best friend and more.
I still want to be your friend, too.
But I need time to heal my heart.

You're not really gone, but to me you are and I miss you.
And I know you're not coming back.
So I'll see you around and we'll say hello.

I try, but can't put into words:
The sound of my heart shattering
The sight of the permanently gray skies etched into my mind
The feeling of your arms... I'll never feel again
The scent of the tears on my face
And the taste of them in my mouth

But my senses are numb.
I notice these things, but don't really feel them.
Isn't it tragic?
