There you are, boy, all apatter with
‘Whats the matters’ and those rainy eyes that
look out but don’t want to be looked into
for too long, drier now, memorising cracks.
Forget those useless stomach-drops you feel
you ought to feel, stand taller, be prouder.
Say goodbye to your knees from me, closer
then, the map of falls that took the gravel
with the breeze that were vision’s blinker-walls.
Thank you for the memories you put away
for rainy days, my repository, the
treasure trove of touchstones you didn’t skim.
Every tear and every maple seed you threw:
I still want to make sense of it all for you.
Sick little spies in the back of my mind, lend me your ear.
Let me ****** you into leaving this place.

Allow me to introduce myself.
A phantom of a long gone time,
I have come to haunt the shadows here now.

I'd like to cleanse you of your sorrows,
separate the shelves we once painted.
You let them get dusty, grime and mold reigns.
Have you forgotten what it felt to hold my hand?

I'll leave you be when you look me in the eye,
a task not fit for a king.
But your crown is now shriveled,
my silver lining formed your second-place noose.

So just remember, remember, the sun always sets
in the place where darkness lived before.

You will be found out, you will be taken apart,
and this king's throne will be held by one more endearing.
They shant be amazed, no tears will be shed for your death.
Simply an empty shelf, a clean mind, and a satisfactory taste for disdain

Cass
She tripped over her feet, and over her words twice as much.
Graceful only in combat boots, and most comfortable
With her hair down, face naked.
She dreamed of flying, so fiercely and so often
That hardly anyone expected her to come down.
She had nothing, but wanted everything
But there was no one by her side; she was alone.
For people tried to escape when they thought she was far gone,
But she always remembered those who left.
She needed someone to stay, to help her, for she was trapped.
Eyes that had so easily and so often been lost to wonder and passion
Faded, hard and cold.
And the voices, the voices of both people she knew and those she did not,
Screamed, "Just one more hit, just one more cigarette,
Just a little blood, just to feel a little bit."
"You are nothing to us," they said. "You are just a loss."
And so, I am her protector. I keep the voices in check.
When she goes in for another hit, another drink,
I stop her, for hopes of tomorrow.
I lay her down as she holds her head and screams, "I can't do this."
I whisper, "You will be free again someday, I promise."
And she believes me, for I will not lie to her.
I am the only one she trusts.
Because she is trapped, and I can free her.
Their words like fire.
So powerful and setting my heart up in flames
Passion burned in their voices
They knew what they wanted to say
Or rather they did more than say those words
Those talking rock-stars preached, they inflicted,
they roared like the ocean winds on waves,
they seduced, they aroused.
The moment I walked out those doors
I knew I would return.
I found a love there. An underground love.
Now every word I read has fire.
Now every word I write will make a sound.
Perhaps only in my head
the private recording studio,
and maybe someday on the platform of heroes
where your heart must be the one
to set your words on fire.

The Owl

The day was a blank canvas before her. The colors oozing in from every corner, every wrinkle of her life. She wanted to reach, to stretch, to fight for the colors.

But that day she chose black.

And beneath a thinly veiled fog of sadness, she fell asleep. Pressing, heavy, sleep.

In that blanket she discovered flowers. Or so did the little girl with the golden hair. Her eyes, fruit shaped, full of promise.

Whispers by an unknown. Perhaps the owl perched on the second branch.

Whispers.

Tomorrow will always come, she said out loud. Only to the sky. No one else was listening. For the girl said only what was already known.

And what was already known was written in the black.

Awake, she closed her eyes.

Lotus
The forest was flush with light;
The dew upon every leaf and bush shined like emerald tears
Fallen from the rhinestone sky above.
Hues and blushes of reflection went vibrant without limit;
All the things our eyes beheld forced us to soon shut them,
Or else the ability of sight would be no more.
The songs of fire-bellied sparrows and yawning owls that hid in tree-hollows
Echoed through the tunnels of our ears,
Into our pumping brain,
And then were sent down our spines in reaction.
We slipped off our shoes
And our bare feet sunk deep into the wet mud and moss that still held the chill licks from night’s tongues.
The layered breezes through the branches
Tumbled over our pale skins and whispered into the hallow spaces of our ears.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Every swish of forest damp air drained the moist saliva off our tongues
And carried it away through the windows between trees,
Far, far away…
Far away so we would never find the words we wished to say.
The splendor of the sunshine through the emerald trees
Upon our bare arms and legs gave us new breath to live,
New eyes to see,
New tears to shed,
New nostrils to smell…
The secret tide of all natural things flowed here;
In this place
Where our feet were bare,
Where our eyes were shut,
Where the words we wished to say were taken far, far away,
Through the windows between trees.
all but one lonely soul
hangs from limbs of tired trees
in a dense forests of hearts,
and endless flow of blood through leaves.
under one sky,
under one moon;
a canopy of hope
set atop a floor of dreary dead,
laid to rest in a damp field of dirt
walked upon by careless feet.
hollowed eyes stop and gaze
to see,
endlessly;
a sea of worried beasts
stomping through a muddy path.
and through the weeds
a breeze shall breath
a quiet call,
and put to sleep
a lonely me.
