The clouds gathered
a good omen
as we needed rain
on the dry ground

Feeling better
we sat on the wall
senselessly eating
raspberry ripple ice-ceam

When the ground freezes
its surely good
to find shelter
and the flare of a fire
to keep us nice and warm

A spiral of DNA
a blade of grass
a spark of interest
in a competition
distorting vision
leaving
a surface
of peace

Returning to the river
where we go
several times a year
the water level
was really low

Remembering
Storm Desmond
had flooded right over
the bridge
which was then closed
for over six months
reminding me of an elephant

I like to be early
I don't like to be late

I was wondering where Keith was
He's usually earlier than me

I  noticed Libby in the garden
enjoying the sunshine and the pleasant breeze

Within a few minutes Keith, Sean and Janet  all arrived
and that is why I am writing this poem

now

A hive of activity
met me

"Hazardous waste"
it said
on that lorry
I wonder why
they made it
if they knew
it was going to be
hazardous?
