Christmas
is a time for peace on earth
and good will to all men,
they say
Why can't it be like that
every day?

Through the place where
the atmosphere ends
They're sending satellites
and things
to search around
to find more
resources to mine

and making holes
down in the ground
where they're drilling
and digging
injecting
to crack
and frack
for 'natural' gas

We're afraid
for the future
our children will find
We're afraid
one day they will mind

Routine changing
where people
may or may not be
where we expect them to be
Bewilderment will make me tired

It rained a lot
in the last week or two
The gloomy weather increasing
as the hours of daylight
are receding
However
in two weeks time
thinking positively
the sun will be
heading back
our way
up north
and it will soon be spring

When knowing what to do
but not knowing how to do it

Inside himself he seems OK
going out on his scooter every day
he can converse and enjoy his food
unaware or aware
of the environment
in his home

When the autumn sun is low in the sky
and flocking birds are flying by
rainbows can be seen
and sometimes it can feel like spring
but these bright sunny days are cold
and not hot

"My big sister Ann
was wrapped in a parachute
when she was born.
What was I wrapped in?"

"And I told Ann
that I had licorice
stuck up my nose
when I was young"
She said "Wasn't that me?"
Which one of us was it?
