Now returning home
full of fresh air, sunshine
and beans
Maggie Sorbie Aug 2018
A month after
our mother's ninetieth birthday
and a month before
my older sister
comes to Grasmere
to visit
we went to see
My daughters
Yoga Dragon Studio
In Lancaster
and it was truly wonderful
A quiet place
Light airy and spacious
Lord  Shiva dancing
and looking down
on yoga mats and
various sizes of
singing bowls
which were played
by my five -year-old
grandaughter
I was delighted to see
what my daughter
achieved

Revisiting different places
as the seasons come and go
we can see the landscape changing
shaped by the weather,
the wind, the rain,
the sun, and the snow

Not a poem
today
but a card
for a friend
who is not yet
seventy
but more than
sixty

I could write a poem about
an old rogue
friend of mine
or
about a fish
in shallow water

a lot of time
to write the rhyme
about the rogue
I decided to leave
the writing
for another day

A big yellow and green dragonfly

We went to Rydal Hall
and saw the waterfall
ionising and refreshing the air
as we stood there

We did not stay long
deciding to move on to Chester's for lunch
We lost and then found our way
an hour later in the day

The food
was worth waiting for
very yummy
and thankfully filling my tummy

We walked along the river
again filling out lungs
with ionising
and refreshing air

On the way home
I was glad to say
that I had enjoyed myself
on this summer Solstice day
