I was once serenaded
by a love of mine
who
as a boy
put frogs into
his maiden aunts' beds
and caught bats
with a net

who
as a young man
broke his back on LSD
and had to learn to walk again

who tried to rescue me
when I was in deep shock
fought for me
followed me
then
after a period of eight years
remembered my birthday

a man who always
made me feel safe
and loved
and
nearly always
made me laugh

a man who worked for the homeless
where he caught
Tuberculosis
had a stroke
and sadly died
of lung disease
all within a few years

His love of music
and spontaneous laughter
will ever be in my heart

I miss him

I saw my grandsons
yesterday
we had some fun
They were
pressing their noses
against the door pane
and pulling faces

Tufts of grass appearing
as the snow is slowly falling
and amazingly
the snowdrops
and crocuses
have survived

Both beautiful
and interesting
to see
as I sit here again
looking out
of my windowpane

The rays of the sun
according to some
are called 'Jacob's  Ladders'
though I
don't know why

The rays of the sun
according to me
come down from the sky
an amazing sight
to see

Nice bright
sunshiny day
melting the snow
from far away

An early spring this year
Zillions of Snowdrops
intermingling amongst
Crocuses and Daffodils

A delight for our eyes

Snowy slushy sleety
Freezing cold weather outside
Thankful for the warm flat
in which I live
