You can yank me out of Yorkshire but I still want Yorkshire pudding
You can send me south but I’ll still go bargain hunting
Even though it is that I live in the South
I still have a hint of the northern mouth
Well that’s what the southerners say
But I’m sure to you it doesn’t sound that way
Anyway regardless where I am at
I’m Yorkshire bred and that’s a fact
To present this case to you
Some traits of yours; I have a few
I chose cheese to partner fruitcake
And forever search for savings to make
I always speak what’s on my mind
Which at times southerners think unkind
Though they themselves aren’t so good
When it comes to small talk in moments stood
A stranger is a momentary friend to a northerner
Whilst the southerner stands awkwardly waiting
I know which I would rather be
Let’s just say it has its’ own tea
So I am most pleased to see
That so much of you has rubbed off on me
For you my northern family
Are in my thoughts more than you know
And without you I would not be so
For my Grandparents in Redcar, Christmas 2012

For all of my younger life
I thought when I grew up I’d be a wife
But since when I met you
About this, I’ve thought twice
And I’ve wondered if it need be
Need I marry so eagerly?
Because right now
You are my company
And you’ll do for me
So I’m not so sure now
If I’ll need a wedding gown
Or for my Dad to walk me down
The aisle so soon
At this moment in time
Whilst you have been mine
It seems you’re all I need
More love would be greed
Yes, ******* our bond does lack
But we know we have each other’s backs
And trust is a key thing
My lifelong partner needs to bring
Other traits that you’ve got
Prove you have the lot
You’re a passionate cook
Generosity is your look
You bring with you fun
Share a love for the sun
You love a good dance
You’ll give anyone a chance
You entertain with your bands
You’re a helping hand
You see whilst you’re looking
You hear whilst you’re listening
And your singing is glistening
You do all these things just naturally
It seems you understand me
Which is why what we have works
And it will for eternity

So long as we don’t have to play scrabble in our retirement
For my best friend and life partner! Christmas 2013

You have bathed me, dressed me, soothed me, cradled me
You have wiped me, fed me, sung to me and played with me
You have lost sleep for me
You have given up for me
You have missed out for me

We have read together, played together, sung together
We have swam together, ran together and cooked together
We have shared a story that is still being written
It has not always been a happy one
We have not always agreed with each other

I have been guided with boundaries by you
But I have thought that I knew better
So at times I have ignored you
And this has upset you
It is when I have worried you

You have tried to understand me
And you have cared for me regardlessly
You have waited for me to realise
That you were right
And then you have forgiven me

I have been brought up by you
And I have learnt so much from you
That all the rules were necessary
A gift from you to ground me
And help me to reach maturity

As we have shared our life story
We have made countless memories
And grown to live in harmony
With distance making no harm
In absence our thoughts still meet

You have given me life
And then shared yours with me
Because you have always loved me
And I you
For that is a family
Christmas present for my parents 2012

You're a moon like no other
For you the cycle stops
And my friend becomes a mother
So small you are moon
Yet no bigger gift is
Shared between lovers
Full moon you are moon
Yet less than half size
Fingers, toes and all the other
Are so tiny tiny sized moon
Because you're a new moon
But in nine months you grew
Till Mum and Dad greeted you
Into their world
Wellcome to the world moon
This crazy big world
With it's own moon at night
Wellcome to the world
Coby Jack Marshall
What a special moon you are

Lines straight and lines long
From ancient history they're hanging on
For what purpose held is unknown
But certainly some theories have grown
Lines that are curved and lines in shapes
Could be a calendar month, or day
These lines have fingers and are lines with eyes
Yet they can only be seen from the sky
Which is where another theory is born
They are lines of the stars and a map of their lawn
The lines of a belt and lines of a plough?
It's plausible, but not sure quite how
The lines that point are the lines that are straight
And they have a more likely purpose made
Linking Nazcas to a rare touch of rain
The lines spread water on the desert plane
These lines have a reason and these lines answer why
But who knows if that's where the answers lie
Lines lead to more lines and they touch as mates
Curved line, the picture line, links to next by a straight
So shows reason being when lay as lines in their time
But now these lines; lines curved, lines straight and all
Are protected for present day to view more

These heads are strangers
Not one of them I know
But here strangers share
We share something strong
Memory together that we've created
An experience that in our heads lives on
For no level of familiarity
Could prepare for the awe of this canyon

He spoke in not quite sentences
His speech held in ****** muscles
All polite and kind
But lacking the sense of communication
So even though we share a language
Now my ears could not make sense of his words
And his mind is unsure of whether I heard
So he took me to his level
And I found the place his mind was
Then woke next day
Wondering where it was
