Confessions
Lucy Tonic Dec 2012
From the heritage of Eve
I want to believe
I travel in circles of sorrow
From the pool in which they float
I try to believe
But the cross is a phantom
In the way of the fresh air of truth
Don’t let the world tell you what to believe
Time and memory are not on your side
So when can confession turn to conversion-
Will you let this error slide?
Praise and prayer are all I have to offer
But the cross remains a phantom
In the way of the fresh air of truth
My soul’s in a state of collapse
Who will make it clean
I’m guessing someone who remains unseen
From the heritage of Eve
I sacrifice to fallen angels daily
Cause I don’t know anything
But in my heart is the clear calm of love
Trapped in a world of swirling lusts
Let the light shine on my face
I want to believe
Set me free
From the heritage of Eve

Marooned Sky
Lucy Tonic Dec 2012
Birds like airplanes like crosses in the sky
Give me strength and weakness at the same time
The trees a loft for the first realm of heaven
A grid of sixes beneath the mighty sevens
He was the firstborn of every creature
And the last of all the great teachers
Thirst for his word, cleansed by his blood
Rise out of the ashes like a lotus in the mud
Glorification means being ready to die
To submit to the rainbow throne on high

Medicated Moments
Lucy Tonic Dec 2012
Off to the moon in cement shoes we fly
And this is the art of getting by
We let loose our flaws, and worries subside
Our guardian angels are put on standby
As slippery hands and limp tongues arrive
At a place in this hell one could call paradise
Dear fountain of mercy, keep us alive against
The unforgiving vengeance of the night
Just let it last, just let it glide
Underneath stars that fade with daylight

The Keys
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
To be with the prince of the air
You need muscle, bone and feathers
Wings of freedom, limbs of grace-
A sky realm once called heaven
But to get a little higher up
Into outer space and beyond
You need a foolproof space helmet
To wave the astronaut’s wand
But to get to the third realm of heaven
Is a bit more difficult and slow
But might be easy for a few-
All you need is a halo

Heights
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
The fallen angels, the risen devils
Preserve a bond by living silently
Distractions are many for humankind
The mystery is the birds and the bees
Beauty is incomplete and shadowy
Where is the farmer who plows the heart
Diving for pearls and permission for flattery
Where does it end and where does it start
Moon looks like an inflated balloon
Pluck it out of the sky like the birds
Who rule the first of the heavens
Beneath the second realm of a burning sun
The expansive curtain of the stars
Sits below His mighty throne-
A paradise few ever see
A place where no telescope goes
Putting you into a state of collapse
Is the prince of the air who
Accepts all evil sacrifices
And gives you a stiff neck

You
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
You
Seasons change and flowers die
But that I forget when I see you smile
Friendships end and words can lie
But none of that matters when I’m by your side
Hearts often have shadows that won’t subside
But mine disappear when I look in your eyes
Life is a mystery, often cruel an unkind
But when I’m with you, I don’t have to ask why
Right before you fall asleep, and breathe your last sigh
I thank God for love, and that you’re my guy

Infancy, not remembered
Newborns with original sin
Mother is a vessel
Baptism should come later in
Life
Waves of temptation
Bring the proud to decay
The divine is given to evil men
Who value Greek gods and prey
Upon life
Racing against the depths
Of unforgivable time
We push death out
Of our minds
With true love

The stormy ******* of human life-
Wonderful and forgettable

Nose to the Table
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
Nose to the table
Swan-dive into the land of fables
Where every song is a sacrament
Cause magic has no accidents
And grief opens the door to sin
And mistakes which lead you into
A world where the light bringer
Is also the scorpion’s stinger
She’s wearing rings, she’s wearing bells
Still you deny she’s a Jezebel
Immoral fiction from the past
Makes sand fly through the hourglass
The immortality of sigils and art
Cause no one tells you where to start

Where are all the gods
Of reinvention
I need to be washed
Of all this fear
Still don’t know
If moon is friendly
Or is the reason
For all my tears

A heart does miracles
But I’m stuck
Inside of mirrors
Made out of his luck
I need thunder
To signal lightning
I need it badly
Electric shock

Everything sparkles
Without the panic
When can I be there
Alive not manic
Assured by the world
That my ancestors
Assured my fate
Through DNA

This is the advent
Of the anniversary
The coming out of
My adversary
Some say he’s horned
Some say her nails scratch
Some say the world was
Not made but hatched

Are you still listening?
Are you still listening?
Are you still listening?
I beg you, listen

The Chanteuse

I heard through the grapevine
The Gestapo are out tonight
Weaving their tapestry
Of violent sport and time
So I duck into alleys
******* my talisman
Praying for personal glory
A reordering of the cosmos
But all I get is an enigma
Enigma with mystique
I hear the chanteuse sing
It makes the colors bleed through

I heard through the grapevine

Weaving their tapestry
Of karmic sport and time
So I duck into nightclubs

Praying for personal triumph

But all I get is an enigma

I Asked Satan for Divorce
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
I asked Satan for divorce
He said, “Alright, of course,
But you’re still swimming
In waters lukewarm and shallow.”
Here I thought I was hallowed
But I’m wrestling something nameless
I want it to be solid
His name is full of consonants
But I feel the vowels are valid
In His world it’s black or white
Night or day, light or dark
I ponder which one I am
As I count the ripples on tree bark
How long is my shelf life
How far can I travel safely
How much more can I take
Will I ever find my place
Butterflies into bombers
We must get back to the garden
Bombers into butterflies
We must get back to the garden

In the Bloodbath of a Dream
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
In the bloodbath of a dream
I went sleep-walking into Eden-
It was burnt to the ground
I smelled the charcoal, tasted the flames
While in a cloud was a huge forked-tongue
That got me thinking of the letter M…
I hopped around to other worlds
Perceiving the events with a cautious schoolgirl nature
I watched chemicals and stars do their ****** dance
Twirling endlessly into each other-
Creating a carnival of colorful exploding death and rebirth
I felt the ghosts in their fortresses eye up the hourglass-
Wondering when time will be broken and they’ll be set free…
There’s blood on a rainbow down by the waterfall
It stained my soul and put my thoughts to rapture and ridiculousness
How far will they go, the demons of this world,
When a measly human breaks their code,
Smashes their hologram mirror,
And realizes that everyone everywhere has always been alone
Everyone everywhere is their own god-
And everyone else, with their dark interiors,
Is there only to torture the blamed
For a mistake they can’t remember…
Lost in the remnants of a dream
I unlocked the gates to hell
And realized that life on earth is purgatory-
There must be a heaven on another astral plane,
A dimension without pain-
Of all the universes in existence, I hope that one bleeds through
Before I wake up to a world where God is dead
An angels fall like shooting stars that wish to remain unseen-
Extinction.

Fossil
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
Alcoholic writer is a brand
But is worthy of monuments
Schizophrenic mind, neurotic head
Pull out the monsters from under the bed
And give them a home in your story

You’ve got to feel it in your bones
Said the artist of integrity
They ***** a crucifix, they dig your grave
Later they’ll analyze how you behaved
And build you temples of worship

No one wants to be a fossil
In the backwoods of one’s own skull
In a world that pushes you away
Then in death embraces your way-
That kind of imitation is not flattery

So support your fellow man
While he’s still kicking
Buy him a drink
Ask him to think
And get his autograph on a ***-soaked napkin

Stars like scepters in the sky
Glorified in royalty
When just above God’s throne
One of them lost his loyalty
The covering cherub looks beautiful
Offspring of the morning
Possessed by a planet
Son of heaven’s mourning
Once he was a shining one
A day star of the earth
But a change of inner nature
And chaos soon was birthed
Rumors of a second coming
As Venus does her dance
Another crucifixion and

Doublethink
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
I am money changing hands-
Insignificant and ubiquitous
Imbibed as oxygen
Spit out like old chewing gum
I am the tree that never grows leaves-
Alone but surrounded
Decrepit states of being
Amid tiny sparks of youth
I am a child’s heart-
Intelligent and delicate
Fathoming the depths
Of the outside world
I am detached-
Bought and sold
Young and old

Feels like I’m fading
I’m counting the days
Till demon no more
I’ll be up in the clouds
But the same one who tempted
Is the same one who saves
Who knows where evil has its home

Feels like I’m fading
I’m counting the beads
Till demon no more
I’ll be up in the trees
But the same one who saved
Is the same one who tempts us
Tell me where evil has its home

Feels like I’m fading
I’m counting the ways
A demon can turn
Into something good
A dash of some energy
And a twist of fate
Who knows the identity of themselves?

Foreboding
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
Turn your keys into ignition
Just as a star explodes
Crying babies enter the world
Blades of grass learn to grow

Infinite darkness
Mixed with ominous beauty
The need for reflection
The burden of a curse
Mixed with foreboding air
That you’re not allowed to breathe

Erase all superstitions
Just as a black cat prowls
Lying children enter adulthood
The devil’s stomach growls

Infinite darkness
Mixed with ominous beauty
The need for reflection
The burden of a curse
Mixed with foreboding air
That you’re not allowed to breathe

Eve
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
Eve
She pines in vain desire
At reflections of herself
Longing for an explanation
Why her dreams are on the shelf
Made to serve another
Who has conferences with God
Walking in his shadow
Waiting for knowledge to come

Disembodied figurines
Giving orders to stay clean
All she wants is equality
So she longs for his reality

A gentle dumb expression
Is what she fell for
Conquered and seduced
By a child, nevermore
She just wants identity
To shed her naiveté
And gain some independence
From the one he calls God

So long to the innocence
The grace she once had
Now her every movement
Is an empty paper bag

Now
Lucy Tonic Nov 2012
Now
Despite my aging body
I still have my baby teeth
And bodies want beds of fire
And babies just need sleep
They said to look out for your schemes
Casting stones from their own piles
They said you were the cream of liars
But you can make me smile
Every day I’m getting older
I refuse to play the games for two
I’m used to looking over my shoulder
But now I look at you
Now I look at you

Destroy the Order
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
Sleeping in catacombs
Trying to control the cycle
Here is where all time stops
Says the archangel Michael
Spirits come from the center
Space is expanding fast
Counter-clockwise super-universe
Love is always the message
But there goes that bloodline
Swinging freely in the sky
Riding on chariots of fire
Wearing scales and wearing smiles
Inching towards progression but
We create the problems of the future
They shift from dimension to dimension
Tell me then, which one holds truth
There will always be evil
Cause there will always be good
There needs to be a balance
Or one would destroy the other
Yes, one could destroy the order

Ghosts unglorified
Watch the black angels weep
Demonic doctrines at play in our minds
In our homes, in the streets
Your diamond earrings
Your rhinestone-encrusted phone
Your manicures
Your shoe-shine labor throne
The devil is in the details
But only the dead can see
The big picture
Count your pills
Count your money
Count your friends
How’s that honey?
Ghosts with wide eyes
Watch the angels cry
Demonic ways at work in our heads
In our beds, it should be a crime
Devil is in the details
Every nook and cranny
When will we see the big picture?

Puffed Up
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
The bite from the apple
Happened to match the
Crescent shape of the moon
Soon all that was blameless
Turned into a carnal place
Where all is without
And puffed up
And ****** up
This bad luck
Will last forever
The foliage of the soul
Turned into dead branches
They’re breaking off piece by piece
Falling beneath
Into the fire of no return
Where all is without
And ****** up
And puffed up
This bad luck
Will last forever
Outnumbered by atheists
Who’re always quick to judge
There is no charity left
The stone will not budge
And this bad luck could last forever

The secret to life
Is learning to love
All the chaos
We fly with pasted-on wings
Too close to the sun
The melting wax drips
Into the ocean
But if we could escape
By bus or by train
Even by airplane we could
But we’d never escape our flesh
The casing of a body
When the story ends in death
Yes, the story ends in death
God sure knows how to put
The damage on
We must shed our skin
Let the light in
Before our silver linings sever
We’re tied to heaven forever
It’s just gravity pulling us away
Take that thing called fate and
Mix it with a little faith
Maybe one day you’ll conquer the sky
The secret to life
Is learning to love
All the chaos

The seatbelt’s frayed
You took me for a ride
A guilty conscience wage
Your talk is small
Just like your dead heart beat
You want to make more moments
While I’m still breathing
I’m in good company
When I’m with the crazies
As you reach in the backseat
For whiskey and a daisy
We’re moving so fast
And I don’t belong here
But the music turns me on
Speed is beauty switching gears
Now we spiral into madness
The tires glide off the ground
I’m sure I’m ready to die like this
Just not with you around

Angels and men alike
But where’s your charity?
Where’s your charity?

Still you’re green with envy
Rejoicing in another’s misdeeds
Where’s your charity?

Behind Closed Doors
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
Alice looked in the mirror and saw a rabbit
Her *****, lit with curiosity, followed him down
But Alice never left
She was just a talking animal, like the rest
She killed her monkey, lost her graces
And now she rules on the other side of the galaxy
We wear her tattoos by age 10
And we sure do love Alice in the underground
The world interprets her story with wonder-
A prevailed analysis of power
But where is the truth?
Liberation has its price
Falling off the wings of an angel
And seeing God on the way down
How do you sleep at night?
I bet your dreams erase the feeling
Of feathers on a wing
And behind closed doors
They’re making deals with the universe
Maybe that’s why I’m never ok
When everyone else is smiling
She wears suede as she swallows my star
Never thought she would take it that far
Guess I’m bound for underwater things

Resurrection Beat
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
With eyes wide shut
I blew a hole in my soul
Burnt the house down
Closed all open doors
And this dark forest
Seems to have no end
My legs are tangled
In the moss and weeds
Then someone comes along
Singing a familiar song
They walk on different paths
But they offer you a hand
And their bad karma
Should be a warning sign
But you’re stuck here
Might as well take your time
Cause even fickle tenderness
Can lead you to another mess
That’s less intense than yours
The grass might not be greener
But I could use a change of scenery
Where the pitch black becomes shadows
And the shadows roll like meadows
And the meadows lift your feet
To a resurrection beat

On the wings of illusion
We fly with two feet on the ground
Disturbing harmony
Traverse erratic paths down
Life is an omission
Exile is the way home
We see through the glass darkly
It eclipses our halos
The constant cravings
The endless urgency
The dissonant clash
The tragic emergencies
Competing with noise and
The hungry heart’s gorge
The rattle of death and
The raw body forged
Longing more to be liked
Than to love and be near it
We can’t see God because
God is a spirit

I’ve tried words
I’ve tried gestures
I’ve tried tears
I’ve tried letters
I wrote you one recently
About the love you refuse
It’s all I have to give
Still I’m not worthy of you
So like the good book says
If you’re not with me
You’re on the other side
But like a wise man said
Love thy enemy
We’re on the same side

I’ve tried brains
I’ve tried *****
I’ve tried heart
I’ve tried lotus
I opened a petal recently
It revealed the love you choose
And it’s all that I can’t give
To ask, who is worthy of you
So like the good book says
If you’re not with me
You’re on the other side
But like a wise man said
Love thy enemy
We’re on the same side

Please forgive me
I’m broken by misunderstandings
And I’ve turned my insides out for you
But your eyes belong to the world outside
Your eyes…

This heaven and this earth we must appease
Until the laws of destined karma cease
There is no omen, is no sign
Is no reason, is no rhyme
Mountains, crumble on us
Rolling hills, cover us
You’re crooked, kissing two masters’ feet
As Satan sifts your soul like rotten wheat
There’s a great gulf that’s fixed
Don’t sleep, pray on this
Mountains, crumble on us
Rolling hills, cover us

Sweating blood and not admitting who he was
Drink up his alcohol, root for the underdog

I awoke in paradise
After he made me
I was basked in moonlight
And the flowers danced for me
Walking around aimlessly
Was another just like me
He held my hand and we
Traversed our new home
Then one night while I was dreaming
A hissing voice came in my ear
Suddenly my mind was filled with
Oceans of blood
The next day I took a bite from
The tree I was supposed to fear
Then the world turned upside-down
I saw a vision of a crown of thorns
And punctured hands and bleeding feet
I dropped the fruit into his lap
But before I could stop him he took a bite
If only He told us that because of our transgression
A savior would later have to die

Muted streetlight hovers on a glistening sidewalk
I walk in the street holding my own hand
Every day my life’s like straddling the yellow line
Between speeding cars in both directions
I never could find a palm the right temperature
I never could direct the traffic in my mind
I never could do quite anything as well as you, so
My self-worth rented a room in your head
And it plans to stay there
The hotel is snowed in
It plans to stay there
Somewhere I’m walking in wildflowers
Sharing the sun with everything I sense
But here I’m stuck, suspended indoor rust
Growing like mold on everything I touch
I never could find a complacent day
I never could direct my feet to ignore their stares
I never could be quite anything that you could, so
My self-worth rented a room in your heart
And it plans to stay there
The hotel is snowed in
It plans to stay there
And here, there are no future plans
She said, don’t you go making future plans
Their torture lingers in my solar plexus
The time has come to pray
Yeah, while they play with me

Retrograde (Black Veil)
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
We live a clockwork life
And Saturn thinks clocks are wise
We spin on clockwork time
But she is counter to it
Second from the sun
Uninhabitable
Yeah she is the son
Rising in the west

I long for those long days
Here is only tall tales
She twirls retrograde
And no one posts her bail

Top of the pyramid
Are the tiny shiny kids
They take all our bids
Yeah they’re friends of Lucifer
Seconds from the bomb
They invented time and talk
Thinks she is the bomb
Rising in the west

I long for those long days
Here the horses are pale
She spins retrograde
She’s my nightingale

We live a clockwork life
And we think clocks are wise
We spin on clockwork time
But she is counter to it
Second from the sun
She flipped upside down
Waiting for another son
To rise in the east

I long for those long days
Here is only blood and nails
She twirls retrograde
She’s my blackest veil

Cold
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
Every time you got cold
I held your hand from the start
But little did I know the ice
Resided in your heart
Can you come clean
Can you come clean
Insert your memories in me
Is it that hard to believe
In a somewhat crooked destiny
Your patience  is waning on me
As you wield your sword of words
I’m not asking for your sympathy
But you’re the one that asked to comfort me
So why bother being nice
Why bother being good
But all the same, the ***** is a role
We’re in the same game, except mine takes a toll
So don’t come around if you want me to be polite
Don’t you come around if you want me to lie
And say that everything is alright
Cause nothing is alright
And every time you got cold
I held your hand from the start
But little did I know
The ice resided in your heart

Logical, symmetrical thoughts are all you seem to carry
And they bury me
Do you ever think about the notion of immortality
Even in your dreams
See, I am different, always have been
Always will be
I evolved from something else
At a different speed
Open your third eye and help retrieve my memory
Of a world where we were free
Cause when it’s over, it will be over
It will be
A universal lightshow in my rearview mirror
Take a look and see
You are the people who want to live forever
I laugh with tears falling
You are the people who want to live forever
But this is hell for me

Sweet Dreams

You said I was your best
You said it felt like flying
I say I know you better now
You always were a good liar
My skull hurts from thinking about
What exactly I did wrong
You stole my dress, my friends
My address, you even took my song
How can you have sweet dreams?
When everything is exactly as it seems
How can you have sweet dreams?
Especially when they’re made of this
Wise man told me, you’d be sorry
Begging at my feet
But the clock is ticking by so fast
Is it heaven where we’ll meet
How can the universe accept
Your thinly-spread truth
When it rests on a pill and
A camera in your bedroom
How can you have sweet dreams?
When everything is exactly as it seems
How can you have sweet dreams?
Especially when they’re made of this
Your whole façade is so American it kills me

Flirting with Death
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
These days Jesus is a smoker
With an invisible cloak
Running on a schizophrenic rainbow
While we search for artificial paradise
To appease our soul’s appetite
It’s a kind of bottomless fall
Our chaos creates stars
As we walk through the dark forest
With all the timid insects
And aging is time travel
Cause soon you’ll be your parents
There’s an avalanche of power
That violates our psychic peace
When your only friends are dead people
And self-worth is in another’s mind
We need a fortress in our hearts
An anchor to reality
And a lighthouse of wisdom
Cause if no one agrees with you
You must be closer to the truth

Smashed Radio Sets
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
The war finally ended
Now I’m competing with silence
Went out with electricity
And fell into the shady parts of a dream
I remember, dreaming by day
Under the sun my will of instinct gave way
To a place in the garden where I was sound and safe
The hungry gorge of my heart
Swallowed by the abyss
It bought a ticket to a ride
As a monster sleeping under a tree
His sweet delights belong in heaven
But endless nights come as 70x7
Don’t let him become extinct
It’ll be quite awhile before he sees the pink again
Adventuring erratically through the stars
Should not be a crime
Should not be a lesson to those who can’t travel far
So crucify the insincere
Dissolve the tribe
Let them hear the truth
Reigning off the rooftops of your mind
Your interpretations are nothing
But umbrellas of power
I rather sit in my own sun-shower
And watch them paint over their third eye
With television and false contritions
Liberating landscapes of dreams
Till no one can find their wings

Left-Over Ashes
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
Don’t know why I’m still here
Our roots refuse to grow together
You only want pretty blossoms
And erupting volcanoes
Still I try to tie our trees together
Eternal passion with eternal poison
Any fool can be in love
Takes a special kind of accident
To still love the left-over ashes

So I come heavily every day
To blank pages and off-white sheets
I get over and under, not safe or discreet
And just because in the shower I sing
You think you’ve done me no injury
Yeah, you’ve  never heard the melody

And the price of knowing the thoughts of your heart
Is a sword through my soul, piercing and dark
And I still don’t know why I’m still here
Our roots refuse to grow together
Eternal poison with eternal passion
And still I love those left-over ashes

White Blood
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
You ask me to come out of my shell
But not completely
You needed a footstool
With words you beat me
The things you said
I never asked to hear
It looks like the salad days are near
Again
So I thank you for reminding me
That the quickest way to doom
That the quickest way to tombs
Is love
And love, it drips with pent-up white blood
I helped to release it
Got rid of your headaches
But now all you need is your own hand
And her picture
Now our plane is going down
The people are screaming
Wide-eyed out the windows
I reach to hold your hand
And follow your gaze
To a blonde faceless maze
Yeah, it looks like the salad days are here
Again

The Cure
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
I want to go where the stars blanket the sky
Cause without the right music, this *** is cheap
And I don’t wanna be no one’s bane or burden
So put on The Cure and let’s heal each other
Before it’s too late
Before it’s too late
I want to go where the yellow wallpaper’s peeling
And the factory house is crumbling down
Cause without the right scenery, I fall faster than dominoes
So put on a friendly smirk and let’s laugh awhile
Before it’s too late
Before it’s too late
I want to go for a ride with the windows down-
A passenger in your inevitable car crash
But the wind’s blowing through my hair so
Put on some good music, and let’s reach infinity
Before it’s too late
Before it’s too late

Eve
Lucy Tonic Oct 2012
Eve
Eve, the world blames she
She repented, the devil left
But then came seven more
Her seed became a scorpion
Her earnings became stone
Her aquarium, full of snakes
And now her children sting
And you can’t eat mountains
And serpents lie
Eve, the world blames she
She opened her third eye
But it blossomed into two
She longs to be a candle
To rid of all the stripes
But her reputation keeps creating
Mixed women who fear trees
Who has the power to cast you into hell?
Eve, the world blames you
Your joy lies in heaven
You’re not of this earth anymore
