If I ever found a bottle
With a Genie stuffed inside
Along the beaches Sandy shore
I'd rub it with all my might

And when the Genie showed  himself
I'd try not to act surprised
I would pretend that things like this
Happen all the time

When he offered me three wishes
I'd only take up one
That would be for me to sing
Just like Chris Stapleton
Listening to Chris Stapleton's album  Traveler. If you haven't heard him, the man sings like honey.

She is from all directions

She is the North...
All of the wide open spaces
Crisp as the cold mountian air

She is the East...
Where the leaves fly with the wind
A warmth that surrounds you making you feel less alone

She is the South...
The sweet fragrance of the magnolia blossom
With the gracfulness of an osprey in flight

She is the West...
The smell of the ocean lingers on you
Where the sunset leaves you*
speechless from it's untouchable beauty

He is a man for all seasons

He is the Winter...
The chill that hangs in the breath of the air
Frost's intricate design on a windowpane

He is the Spring...
The soft lullabies of the birds
Drops of water as you dance under the rain

He is the Summer...
A heat that burns to the touch
The longest of all days

He is the Autumn...
The sturdy tree that stands alone without his leaves
The chill that goes down your spine
when he's looking into your eyes

Complementing each other gracfully
This is a collaboration with a friend from another poet site I'm on.
The ever so elusive ~fairydust~
The hardest poem I've ever written!
She doesn't know how to rhyme and I don't know how to not rhyme!
Of course fairy, being a woman...got her way.

She loves to spend her time

Far off from the light

Where she can clearly see

To pick stars from the sky

Puts them in her basket

Where she takes them home

Pastes them on her ceiling

Making constellations of her own

Prepare ye the way
The day it is at hand
Between the loyal bride of Christ
And the Righteous Son of Man

The table has been set
With the finest of linen and lace
But before it is we all begin
Let us bow our heads in grace

To the one true God of Love
Who has kept His marriage vow
From the moment time began
Until this moment now

As we stand before the alter
Of our Groom and Righteous King
We in turn will all be crowned
The Saints of Royalty

So prepare ye the wedding feast
The day it is at hand
Between the loyal bride of Christ
And the righteous Son of Man

With my bags and weapons packed
I am now ready for
Whatever it is I throw at me
In this, my one man war

On this ****** battlefield
Where there is only I
Bravery is in high need
When it is to myself that I must die

I have waged this vicious war
For countless amount of years
From the dark jungles deep in doubt
Through the rivers of many tears

So many times I've been wounded
Waving the white flag
Once again a prisoner of myself
In a battle I seldom understand

I know this enemy intimately
Yet I'm still taken by surprise
When what I think is best for me
Is his main disguise

The difference this time on the front line
Is I'll be holding steady
When I come face to face with me, the enemy
I'm now prepared and ready

My Watch
 Oct 2013 loric
Mike Hauser
I have this watch I wear
That gives the time of day
It also gives the time at night
Because the face illuminates

One thing that it doesn't
That I wish it would
Is remind me of the time
That I should spend with you

You see I get so busy Lord
I barely have time to think
Living this life day to day
As if it were on the brink

If I continue at this pace
I'm not sure that I'll survive
Is this what they meant when I heard them say
This is the time of your life

So I took the battery out of my watch
To remind me every hour of every day
To stop what it is I'm doing
And take the time to knell and pray

I have had this by my side
Since my days of youth
A very valuable priceless gem
I'd like to share with you

It's not made of silver
Copper or shiny bronze
But of the purest gold
You yourself can pass along

It doesn't really matter
What your race or creed
Or even to what god
It is you bend your knee

If it is we all did this
We would change the face
Of the world we live in
The entire human race

Words spoken by Jesus
That hit the vain of truth
No need to be a Christian though
For it to speak to you

For lack of a better name
It is called the golden rule
"Do unto others as you
would have them do to you"

I know that it sounds simple
And yet it's so profound
That this little gem of gold
Could turn the world around

Like I said before
I've held this since my youth
It was given to me to give back freely
As I pass it on to you

I'm setting up shop today

In the center of my soul

So all the world can come and view

The secrets that it holds

Give a view eternally

Of  all it knows but won't disclose

Crack the blinds, let in the light

To the center of my soul

Poetry
Has been nourishment for me
Since the first time that I read

It out of the jar
From behind the pantry door
When I cracked open the lid

I took out my knife
Stirred the insides
Then over my life I evenly spread

Where the delicious taste
Of poetry has not gone to waste
I've thoroughly enjoyed it ever since then

Talked to my recruiter
Felt it was my duty sir

Raised my hand said yes I can
Be a great American

Sent me off to boot camp
Sargent treated me like crap

Never got to thank his Mom
The one who raised this hellish son

Made me a man sent me to war
Not knowing what I'm fighting for

Traveled to Afghanistan
To **** some guy named Taliban

Now I'm hunkered in a ditch
Missing Momma's fish and grits

Planes are flying over head
Pretty soon we'll all be dead

All it is that I can say
I'm to young and dumb to die this way

Then I got a good report
They have no need for me no more

Landing on the tarmac
Hello America it's me I'm back

Greeted by my two best friends
Nodding Bob and Stutter Jim

Even got my old job back
Who would have ever thought of that

Still in service to my country
Behind the counter at Burger King

All I have to say in close
Would you like some fries with those...
