Stone walls and graveyards.
I think I've been here before.
Sky's grey and so am I.
I'm just a speechless *******.

I've been stranded here forever
It seems and I think I might be lost.
At least the stars are out,
I love to stare in wonder.

"I thought you said the sky was grey,"
I heard a voice from no where.

I don't know who you are
Or what you want.
Just leave me to myself.
These days, I have been shakey.

"Are you needing someone to hold you still?"
That voice it speaks again.

I'm not your puppet on a string
I'm more than just a vessel.
I'll walk these streets until I die.
I'll be alone for my whole life

But the voice  breaks me down to my knees,
Saying three words I never believed.

The rain may fall hard
But do not close your window.
Open it instead.

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.

Well, now,
if little by little you stop loving me
I shall stop loving you little by little.

If suddenly
you forget me
do not look for me,
for I shall already have forgotten you.

If you think it long and mad,
the wind of banners
that passes through my life,
and you decide
to leave me at the shore
of the heart where I have roots,
remember
that on that day,
at that hour,
I shall lift my arms
and my roots will set off
to seek another land.

But
if each day,
each hour,
you feel that you are destined for me
with implacable sweetness,
if each day a flower
climbs up to your lips to seek me,
ah my love, ah my own,
in me all that fire is repeated,
in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten,
my love feeds on your love, beloved,
and as long as you live it will be in your arms
without leaving mine
Today, I fell from the sky
And mourned my tattered wings
I screamed in hopes the stars would hear
I cursed the earth that broke my fall
As I watched you fly away,
I wished for heaven to burn

In the fields of asphodel,
I lay
In a dream you left behind,
I watched the rain pour out
In silence,
I cried

My tears were falling to the ground
and froze my fevered pleas
through the valley of forever,
a shimmering wind escaped the trees
the roars from shores we'd seen before
gave power to their whisper
the lips of god formed air to song,
silencing my foolish whimper
all beauty we had found in life
was still stretched out before me
all grace I found inside your eyes
was branded deep within me

In the fields of asphodel,
I lay
In the dreams of days to come,
I felt the radiant dawn
Beneath new horizons,
I try

Today, the fields you left behind
nurture every dream unseen
today, the clouds reveal the sun
and greet the golden dawn
Today, I'm blessed by thunder's call,
Today, the storm left me with more

Today, I fell from the sky,
but I still have my wings
Rain is falling gently now
On the fields of asphodel,
Where we shared our kiss
The flowers smile,
so I will mourn no longer
After all,
They look so lovely
Today.

The stars are falling
And yet you fail to see,
Playing naughts and crosses
In the sand and shale
By the sea.

Deaf to the thunder,
Stick in hand
You made your move.
Circle in the centre,
reflecting the moon.

Your enemy?
As oblivious as you,
When the dunes had parted
And the rift was in full view.
I knew then
There was nothing we could do.
Each locked in the embrace of
The stalemate that shall ensue.

The maelstrom whipped in and above,
All around our ears
As the salty sea spray was mixed
Among our tears,
Sodden upon forlorn beach below.
Sticks and stones
Forgotten
To the Undertow.
