You can't thumbs-down the truth away

Though I've seen clever be poetic, too.  I suppose clever is something we all learn from, which is, of course, poetic

My grandparents
(Who, by the way, belong in the Grandparent' s Hall of Fame)
Would call me
"Faccia brute"
When I cried
(Not if I was really hurt, of course)
Faccia brute means
"Ugly face"
In Italian
If I was a different person
I'd be dwelling
Oh, alas!
Poor me!

Can somebody please tell me what "The daily" is?

There are times when it sounds to me, a poet is speaking to a controlling, self-centered, narcissistic partner, and it turns out they are speaking to God.  
Love God by turning Her into an *******?
God probably wants to be worshipped, not idolized.

If you want people to like your poem, you can't force it more than once
You can go with the obvious,
And even go all a flourish
But no more than once each
You can scrap a tap
On a dark, desolate path, haunted by furious ghosts
But don't bring it home on the same path so winding, you get lost in your landscaping, and desperately claw at whatever is available.

You annoy the **** out of me
I think it's just the chemistry
I try to not bristle at the sound of your voice
But, ugh! It's the most irritating noise

All you ever do is gripe

Whenever I get too close to someone, I stress over how my breath smells
Some people who know me find me annoying
I eat way too much junk food, and don't really gain weight (which is enough to make some people not like me)
I'm a total, out and out, non-apologetic flirt
I am a "know it all"
And sarcastic
(And that's about as much thought as I'm going to put into it)

Get over your badd self
If you think this means you

It's the one who is saying what we don't want to hear

Poets have magical powers
Though they'll never tell you so
They can list all your faults
Right to your face
And you will never know
You'll get so caught up
In the beauty of their style
They'll flat out call you a bafoon
And you'll just sit there and smile

None of us can fake a sneeze
At least not very well
If you try to fake a sneeze

That belies authenticity

It is an important rite

"Oh, The Places You'll Go" out loud
To a child they love
At least once

Covering your hands with glue
Letting it dry, to peel it off, like a thin layer of skin
Sticking pins through the top layers of your fingertip skin, to make a wimpy Freddie Kruger
Watching hydrogen peroxide bubble on your scrape
And then, picking off the scab
Unbending a paperclip, to fashion a makeshift retainer for your teeth
Swinging your arms around in the sideways helicopter, so it can make you run faster
