It Only Took A Lifetime

I sat on a blanket in the yard
and looked up at the sky,
watching fluffy cloud formations
waltzing their way by.
Remembering my childhood
and lazy summer days,
afternoon breezes, thunderstorms,
watching the willow sway.
A swallow gliding effortlessly
does a dance upon the wind,
the coloring book I saw before me
reminded me again.
Of the child I was so long ago
filled with hopes and dreams,
it only took a lifetime to
to realize what that means.

It's Ok To Dream

If stars are the windows to heaven
and rainbows were ours to climb,
I'd ascend to the peak of its
golden arch leaving my troubles behind.
Taking one great giant leap
beyond the Milky Way,
dancing on comets and moonbeams
waltzing life's sorrows away.
We're all a part of this universe,
for every trial God has his plan,
trust in The Lord with all your heart
when facing the things you don't understand.
Remember it's ok to dream
as a momentary escape,
and run away from reality
when things aren't going so great.
There's mountains we must climb
but victories ahead,
that make us who we are
and give us strength God said.
When you're gazing at the sky tonight
remember he's looking too,
and every star that twinkles bright
are angels he's sent to watch
over you.

It's Only For Today

She doesn't chase the ball anymore
but I remember when,
she entered our lives with love
and became our four legged friend.
So small she fit in the palm of our hands
most importantly our hearts,
winning us over with a lick to the chin
creating a bond right from the start.
Showing us love and devotion
unconditionally year after year
expecting nothing in return
a blessing from God
to our family here.
Though we have to say goodbye
it's only for today,
I know there's a place in heaven
for all of us you'll wait.
Meadows you'll roam for now
where others just like you
have touched the lives of humans
I believe this to be true.
God creates love in many forms
what a blessing you'll always be
never forgotten always remembered
a special part of our family.

In memory of my Haley
Her last day on this earth
You're never forgotten!
I wrote this poem the day we lost our beloved dog Haley. Writing is my coping mechanism, my release of life's sorrows.
Jesus Carried The Cross

As bad as things get when you're
scared or you're lost,
remember when Jesus carried
the cross.
To the top of Mt Calvary
knowing his fate,
trusting in God every
step of the way.
Showing the world he
never gave in,
leaning on our father
until the end.
Trusting the promise
that heaven awaits,
every soul here on earth
only God creates.

Listen

Why would someone end their life
what could have gone so wrong?
Where were the ones they needed
that once they leaned upon?
Did you not see the signs
were you busy getting by,
life's challenges of your own
you never heard their cry?
Maybe we need to listen
it only takes one soul,
to hear the cry of the weary
and offer words of hope.
Never dismiss someone's dismay
you could have been God's choice,
to make the difference now
there's power in your voice.
Don't be silenced by fear,
because what you have to say,
might make the difference between life or death for someone you love today.

Love

The most precious gift of all
through our lifetime we treasure,
cost us not a thing though
priceless in its measure.
A simple gesture a smile
or a touch,
can change life's course
and mean so much.
The day we are born
it's our ultimate goal,
to learn its true meaning
heart and soul.
I believe we were placed here
for that very reason
to live life to the fullest
through every season.
It's true they'll be times
we're challenged by hate,
when life throws us curve *****
some call it fate.
Faith gives us hope
and helps us forgive,
love is the key to this life we live.

Love Comes Softly

Love comes softly and unexpected
someone is always there,
you may have overlooked
but your soulmate awaits
you somewhere.
The passion life is lacking
by choice is yours today,
there's God's will and there's ours
be patient true love
awaits.
Under every twilight sky
two stars are joined as one,
by the grace of God all mighty
they'll find each other
beneath sun.
Blinded by a feeling
created by design,
love comes softly to everyone
but only in God's time.

Mama's Christmas Miracle

Mama told me a story a long long time ago not like any that I'd ever heard,
all about a little girl mama used to know, how I remember every word.
Seems like a lifetime ago, though I remember it so well,
it was a Christmas eve I'll never forget as far as I can tell.
We were sitting at the kitchen table, it was only my mother and me,
I was dreaming of Christmas morning and all the presents under the tree.
Dad wasn't doing that well and money was scarce that year,
Mama found a way of telling me without me shedding one tear.
She told me a story of a little girl and a Christmas long ago,
who came from far away, a place where it rarely snowed.
Santa was just a dream to her, but she believed so much inside,
that Christmas was going to be special, so she knelt by her bed and she cried.
"Lord let Santa remember me if not just this one time, I promise I won't ask for much, maybe a dolly I can call all mine."
She closed her prayer and thanked the Lord for all that she received,
she knew that Santa would really come if only she believed.
She wrote a letter to Santa unfamiliar to most girls and boys,
Though her list was long and full, on it there were no toys.
Only things we take for granted, like new shoes or underpants,
hair bows for her sisters and gloves to warm her brother's hands.
At the bottom of her list she asked if it not be to much, for a brand new baby doll she could hold and love and touch.
Then Christmas morning came and she looked beneath her tree,
Not a present to be found as far as she could see.
She didn't give up hope as she heard a knocking sound,
When she opened up her door a great big box she found.
She called out to her mother and dad, brothers and sisters too,
She said "my prayers were answered, there's something in here for all of you."
Her daddy got brand new boots, her mother new underpants, her sisters got beautiful hair bows, her brothers warm gloves for their hands.
Buried deep beneath the box was a brand new baby doll and a note that said Merry Christmas I love you one and all.
I'll never forget that story because much to my surprise,
I saw the true meaning of Christmas shining in my mother's eyes.
For those of you who are wondering, as if you didn't know,
The little girl in Mama's story was my mother long ago.

This poem is about a childhood memory I will never forget. God bless all the mothers in this world and may all your Christmases be ones to remember.

Me and My Shadow

It seems so very quiet I've
found myself alone,
finally a peaceful moment that
I can call my own.
As I'm gazing all around me
I look upon the wall,
there silently sits my shadow
I'm not alone at all.
When I have a problem and no
one seems to care,
sitting on the sidelines it seems
you're always there.
Though you cannot say a word
you always listen to me,
when no one else can find the time
you're always there never to busy.
There's so much I have to tell you that's gone wrong through out this day, but I feel so very foolish talking to you this way.
Some people would call me crazy but
they don't understand, why my shadow
is so important but now I think I can.
Sometimes we only need someone who'll
listen that cannot criticize,
make judgements or give advice about
the way we live our lives.
I'll take comfort in that thought as I make
it through today,
but for now it's just me and my shadow
until the morning light takes you away.

Meant To Be

What makes things happen
we can't explain,
is it divine intervention
that fans the flame?
Meant to be holds
so many secrets,
unlocking our future
have no regrets.
Trust in your maker
believe in his plan,
have faith that tomorrow
he holds in his hands.
Every mountain you climb
or valley below,
if you walk in his footsteps
you'll walk not alone.
Meant to be means
looking beyond,
what hurts today
and moving on.
Even when storm clouds
alter our way,
meant to be means
making mistakes.
When God calls us home
may you realize,
every moment you stumbled
he was right by your side.

Memories

They take us away,
on a voyage through time,
dancing silently
in our hearts and minds.
A sweet release from life's sorrow
and pain
a treasure a gift
as we stroll down that lane.
May you take a moment
and remember today,
those times of the past
that slipped away.
The smell of the ocean
or a rose freshly bloomed,
summer nights and
the light of the moon.
A star you once made a wish
upon,
offering hope as you journeyed along.
This life you live
every goal you've achieved,
forever survives in
your memories.

Middle Class Misery

Hopes dashed dreams fade,
gotta go to work another day.
Paid my money bought my ticket
thought I could tell my boss to stick it.
But here I sit on Sunday night,
knowing by the morning light.
I'll be back at my desk slaving away,
hoping to make it through one more day.
And uncle Sam you must be smiling,
knowing come January I'll be filing.
You've stuck it to me one more year,
more taxes await as I live in fear.
Thanks so much dear President Obama,
for creating all this political drama.
Thought by now I'd be seeing the change,
you promised our country on election day.
But who am I, just the middle class,
to our federal government you can "Kiss My A$$"!

Midnight Song

Somber is the moonlit sky
along the river's shore,
peaceful as a new born's sigh
creatures scurry the forest floor,
A fallen leaf drifts downward
caressing the water's surface,
all tethered in perfect symmetry
each with their own special purpose.
As crickets sang their midnight
song I sat silently in awe,
tranquilized by nature's calm
mesmerized by what I saw.

I wrote this poem after taking my son fishing one night on the Little St Mary's River. It was a night I will forever remember.
Mirror Mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall
catch me quick before I fall.
Help me see just who I am,
to walk in peace and understand.
Why life has to be so hard,
and we often question who we are.
I stand on tip toes but cannot reach,
things I've hoped for love I seek.
So I close my eyes and hide in my dreams,
cause I'm happy there in make believe.
But dawn always comes and my eyes open wide,
reality awakens there's no place to hide.

Moments

Silence awakened by a
newborn's cry
treasured moments,
frozen in time.

Autumn's colors
dance with delight,
like snow kissed trees
on a winter's night.

Moments remembered
in a life ever changing,
skillfully guiding
and rearranging.

Leading us gently
through our journey on earth,
one that was planned from
the moment of birth.

There's a time to be young
a time to grow old,
for every soul
a story is told.

All about moments to
each it's own,
mountains and valleys
leading us home.

Mother's Day In Heaven

Somewhere over the rainbow
beyond the hands of time,
it's Mother's Day in heaven
where the sun will always shine.
She's celebrating with angels
waiting patiently,
to hold each one of her children
throughout eternity.
When you kneel beside her grave
and place a rose upon her stone,
remember she's not far away
we're here for a reason but
this is not home.
Heaven is forever, earth not promised
a day,
tears of sorrow fall for now
but soon shall pass away.
Mothers are God's greatest gift
angels with wings of pure gold,
forever remembered, cherished
and treasured as each generation unfolds.

Another poem I wrote in memory of my angel mother. God Bless
My Angel Peeking Through

If I could visit heaven
only for a day,
and all the grief I've suffered
be vanished all away.
What a blessing it would be
to hear your voice once more,
say the words I love you
like you always did before.
It's hard down here on earth
without your strength and guidance,
the shoulder that I leaned upon
the friend I could confide in.
God chose you for a reason
a plan to us unknown,
and asked that we have faith in
him until he calls us home.
When I say my prayers tonight
I hope you're listening too
watching me from up above
my angel peeking through.

My Mother My Angel

Once upon a time an angel held my hand,
She wiped away my tears and helped me understand.
Our time on earth is brief, there's lessons to be learned,
Each precious day God gives us another page is turned.
Every chapter full of memories, times of joy and tears,
Triumphs and defeats, through every passing year.
She loved us unconditional, always by our side,
When no one else would listen, in her we could confide.
With gentle words of wisdom she led us on our way,
Down the paths of righteousness if ever we did stray.
She saw the light in everyone and gave with no regrets,
Always from her heart let's us not forget.
Angels come in many forms, for me it is my mother,
With love I cannot say in words there'll never be another.
Every day I turn the page in my heart will ever remain,
Everything she taught me as I stroll down memory lane.
Thank you God for giving me the most priceless of all treasures,
Help my Lord to keep alive her memory here forever.
I pray that I can some day be everything she hoped I would,
That's she smiling down from heaven knowing she did good.
As we gather here today there's no ending to her story,
Another chapter has begun full of grace and glory.
Gods called her to his heavenly home, part of his great plan,
Although it may be hard, we all must understand.
Faith is what is hoped for, things we cannot see,
Heaven is promised to all of us if only we believe.

My Secret Garden

Everything's perfect
roses don't die,
in my secret garden
forever they thrive.
Orchards dance
with the afternoon's breeze,
Marigolds chatter
with the birds and the bees.
The humming bird
silently slips into view,
in all it's glory
visiting too.
Angels appear
and speak to me,
in my hidden escape from reality.
My secret garden takes
me away,
and gives me hope
to face each day.

Mysteries Of Tomorrow

The morning star makes her exit
Illuminating the sky,
of ocean blue, an amazing view,
another day is nigh.

Soft breezes caress the fallen leaves
lifting them one last time,
in all their glory,
a seasonal story,
in this colorful life of mine.

Apples ripen on the trees
walnuts drift to the ground,
in my mind
are happier times,
as fall once more comes round.

Winter soon here, days will shorten,
but sure as the tides come and go,
my heart will give way
praising God for today,
as the mystery of tomorrow unfolds.

My Treasure Box

My treasure box may never
behold
precious metals like
silver and gold,

It's contents are simple
worthless to most
but still I'll cherish
until I grow old.

My mother's voice
on an old cassette tape,
I listen as I journey
to work every day.

A butterfly pin made
only of brass,
that once was my Grandmother's
way back in the past.

To the world they're worthless
but for me a treasure,
no price tag attached
mine forever.

My Grampa's poetry every
verse he wrote,
though the lines have faded
I remember them so.

My treasure box may be simple
it's true ,
filled with gifts from the heart
and memories too.

The things that matter most
in this life,
can never be bought
no matter the price.

My World Of Illusion

I live in a world of illusion
where nothing's ever real,
the sun comes up at
midnight, it's warmth I cannot feel.
The moon appears in the morning,
doves whistle songs to me,
in my wacky crazy world
my land of make believe.
Roses bloom in winter
snows falls in the month of June,
trees lose their leaves in December
and spring comes along too soon.
Everything is twisted
gravity's not there,
in my wonderful world of illusion
I'm floating in mid air.
All I know is I feel safe
and sheltered from life's pain,
when I close my eyes and disappear
my world of illusion
keeps me sane.

Dare to dream
there's sweet release
in your imagination.

No regrets

Be who you are
let your purpose unfold,
there's nothing to fear
as your story is told.
May you walk in peace
and your conscience guide,
every step you take
in this journey called life.
Count your blessings
one by one,
when you've gone the last mile
and time is done,
may you walk into heaven
having done your best,
leaving this world with
no regrets.

Ocean Of Secretes

The heart holds an ocean of secrets
ones of triumph and defeat,
together with the soul
intertwined with every beat.
Defining who we are
and who we may become,
every song is different
but when all is said and done.
To dance, to dream, to live
is worth more than words can say,
The heart holds an ocean of secrets
but what matters is today.

Yesterday's gone
tomorrow's a gift
make the best of today

Mighty Oak

Stand tall oh mighty oak, for all the world to see,
your strength and undying beauty forever amazes me.
Though storm clouds hover above you,
your branches span the sky,
in search of the radiant sunlight you
count on to survive.
When the winds are high and restless and
you lose a limb or two,
it only makes you stronger, we
could learn so much from you.
Though generations have come and gone
and brought about such change,
quietly you've watched them all yet still
remained the same.
I only pray God give to me the strength he's
given you,
to face each day with hope, whether
skies are black or blue,
Life on earth is truly a gift
every moment we must treasure,
it's the simple things we take for granted
that become our ultimate pleasures.

Old Man Potter

Old man Potter had a bench
at the park,
he'd sit every day
from dawn until dark.
Watching the children
moms and dads,
remembering the life
he once had.
With far away glances
his eyes did appear,
I asked him one day
"Why are you here"?
He chuckled a bit and
said with a grin,
"I just like watching
because way back when.
Once a long long
time ago,
I too had a family
and loved them so.
My wife was a treasure
beautiful to me,
she now lives in heaven
with angels you see.
My son was my world
but went off to war,
never returned
to knock on my door.
Once as a family we
played here too,
when life was
simple and troubles were few.
Now old man Potter
sits not alone,
though his bench may be empty
his heart is at home.

Old Man Skeeter Pop

Old man Skeeter Pop pushed a
broom and carried a mop,
kids all loved him cause
he made them laugh,
when he'd pull out his teeth
and put them back.
He didn't have much hair
on his head,
never wore a belt but
suspenders instead.
While sweeping and mopping
he sang through the halls,
cleaning kid's messes from
the floors to the walls.
Then one sunny day
in June,
Skeeter put down his
mop and broom.
He joined the kids in their
baseball game,
instead of a bat he
used a cane.
His first time at the
pitcher's mound,
his suspenders let loose
and his pants fell down.
He yanked them up and
threw the ball,
strike one two and three
he shocked them all.
He stood up to bat with
his cane in hand,
and hit that ball right
out of the stands.
The kids all cheered and
screamed his name,
run Skeeter Pop run as their
team won the game.
Those who thought he was
to old to play,
learned a valuable lesson
that sunny day.
People are filled with
all kinds of surprises,
and those who try are
always the wisest.

I wrote poems for my children as they were growing up to help them love reading. I also added hidden messages to help mold who they would become.
Once In A Lifetime

It doesn't happen often
maybe once in a lifetime,
someone comes along
a friendship is born
by the Master's design.
You may not realize now
but soon they'll come a day,
when out of the blue you remember
that special person God sent
your way.
Leaving imprints on our hearts
memories of priceless measure,
singing its melody time after time
frozen moments
we all will treasure.
The tears shed now
will be replaced
remember the good old days,
give thanks for the time you were given
and the friendship that you made.
Once in a lifetime comes along
for a reason I believe,
those who make a difference
never ever leave.

Only Five Letters

There's only five letters in a word
that could change,
fix a hurt and heal the pain.
Tough to say because sometimes
our pride,
keeps them hidden away
buried inside.
Those five special letters
combined in a word
seldom said rarely heard,
can offer some peace
and forgiveness too,
have you guessed the
word I'm referring to you?
It begins with an S and
ends with a Y,
when it comes from the heart
it's message Devine.
Five simple letters spell
sorry it's true ,
who in your life needs to
hear them from you?

Pay It Forward If You Can

A true gift comes from the heart without
any expectations,
wishing nothing in return, no thanks
or admiration.
It doesn't have to be monetary for a
gentle warm embrace,
could offer hope to the weary,
and place a smile on someone's face.
The things we remember most in life
are gestures along the way,
that others have made to help us through
life's challenges each day.
Remember the shoulders you've leaned
upon and pay it forward when you can,
this world could be a better place,
I believe that giving was
God's greatest plan.

Pet Port A *****

I took a walk in the city today
to try to pass the time away.
Saw lots of people walking too
stepped right in a pile of doggy doo.
I thought for a moment just what could be done
to clean up the streets of doggie dung.
Maybe I'll invent something really super
even finer than a pooper scooper.
A port a ***** for our four legged friends
on every street corner where every road bends.
Then I'll become famous for this awesome invention
at the monthly town meetings my name will be mentioned.
They'll throw a big party and dance in the streets
because never again will there be **** on our feet!

Prayers Unanswered

Prayers that go unanswered are heart
breaking it's true,
understanding comes in time
God has a plan for you.
Remember your first love
you prayed would never end,
look at what you have
today, far greater than back then.
Prayers may go unanswered
because what your asking for,
couldn't hold a candle to what
God has in store.
Every day we climb the staircase
one step closer to eternity,
prayers unanswered will be understood
yesterday's sorrows are windows
to perfection I believe.

Remember A Soldier Today

He marches in God's army now but once
upon a time,
with valor he fought long and proud
our freedom on his mind.
Leaving loved ones far behind he
marched on foreign land,
defending peace and liberty
an honorable young man.
The world may never know him
or the sacrifice he made,
So I ask you take a moment
and remember a soldier today.

A poem very near and dear to my heart. Please take a moment and remember our United States service men and women.
Remember Me

If I were to leave this world today I'd want to be remembered its true,
for going that extra mile just to show my love for you.
I'd want for you to be proud of me and know I always tried,
when you hurt I did too, your tears I also cried.
I'd want you to be compassionate to never turn away,
from someone who might need a hug or encouragement one day.
I'd want you to know I'm sorry if I ever caused you pain,
I hope you'd learn from my mistakes and
forgive me just the same.
There are no second chances when God
says it's time to go,
we only have today to let our feelings show.
Remember this when you say your prayers and count your blessings tonight,
and treasure every precious moment God gives you in this life.

Remember The Stars and Stripes

Remember the Stars and Stripes
those men and women who
gave their lives,
defending peace and liberty,
risking it all for the
land of the free.
Also let us not forget
tears their loved ones forever shed.
Wives who husbands never came home,
mothers and fathers who cry alone.
Children who mourn the parent they lost paying forever the ultimate cost.
Futures so bright taken away,
like the Stars and Stripes forever wave.
When you say your prayers tonight,
give thanks for their service and
sacrifice.

Remember When

Life takes us through many changes like the seasons of each year,
Some so unforgettable we sometimes shed a tear.
I remember when I was a little girl, it seems not long ago,
My mother would shelter me in her arms,
A feeling I thought I'd never outgrow.
Maybe I really haven't because hidden inside of me
There's still that need to hold her,
Though are chances are few and far between.
We live our lives looking back on memories of the past
Ones we often cherish, for time moves along so fast.
I remember my teenage years, rebellious as they were,
Though I'd made many mistakes I could always count on her.
Oh the times I'd hurt her with the hateful things I'd say,
I hope she knows how sorry I am and how much I love her today.
As children we don't realize how words can break a heart,
Leave scars that last a lifetime and tear two lives apart.
Though forgiveness isn't easy we've found it through the years,
My mother and I are closer than ever,
Our love has washed away the tears.
So let me tell you that I love you mom, in this message that I send,
Though time is ever changing, I'll always remember when.

Santa's Lazy Elf

Five more days till Christmas,
Santa and his crew
were working overtime making
children's dreams come true .
Singing carols, whistling tunes,
as the hours ticked away,
except for little Edison
the elf that went astray.
Instead of making toys
in Santa's assembly line,
he was hanging out with Rudolph
beneath the snow capped pines.
As Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus took
a look around,
they noticed lazy Edison
was nowhere to be found.
They decided they'd had enough
this elf will surely be fired,
scratched their heads and
realized another must be hired.
Dasher heard them talking
and thought this can't be so,
never in elf's history has
someone had to go.
He searched the winter wonderland
and under the Northern Lights
Edison and Rudolph were
frolicking in flight.
He said "Come down from there
your behavior's a disgrace,
Christmas Eve is almost here and
you're about to be replaced.
Edison soon realized his days
of slacking were done,
that there'd be consequences
for goofing off and having fun.
He knew he had no place to go
if Santa didn't let him stay
his heart began to pound,
as Rudolph ran way.
He hurried as fast as he could
to tell Santa he was wrong,
beg him for forgiveness
and show him he belonged.
As the other elves were caroling
he tried to sneak inside,
but Santa saw him coming out of the
corner of his eye.
He placed his hands upon his hips
and firmly shook his head,
"What shall I do with you
my elf," Santa firmly said.
"I see you when you're sleeping
I know when you're awake,
did you not read your history book
he said for goodness sake!"
Santa soon forgave him cause
his heart is made of gold,
and Edison became the
hardest worker I am told.
The moral of this story is
we all must do our part,
and jolly old St Nick has always
had a heart.
Merry Christmas to all of you
on this holiest of days,
may all your dreams come true
as you gather and celebrate!

Second Chances

How many out there believe
a second chance awaits,
tomorrow will soon be here
what your heart could have changed
you put off today.
How foolish we can be
the future we do not own
if only we could see
a glimpse of our heavenly home.
The message would be quite clear
there's lessons in this life,
second chances fools await
now's the time to make things right.

Slow Down Life's Not A Race

Have you ever watched the sunset and
colorful leaves of fall
dance upon each other
and thought you'd seen it all?
Hurrying through this journey called
life to make it one more day,
taking time for granted trusting tomorrow
is on its way.
Slow down life's not a race,
and our future God only holds,
there's nothing wrong with slowing
down to stop and smell a rose.
Take a long look at the souls you love
count your blessings one by one,
rest assured there's a bend in the road
we all must overcome.
To worry changes nothing
yet robs us of life's pleasures,
let faith hope trust and love become
your greatest treasures.

Someone Is Always Listening

How do we define a miracle
in words the world will believe,
describing the unexpected
sharing the joy our faith
has achieved.
Maybe what we have to say
are not our words at all,
messages from a higher power
blessings memories often recall.
Words can only say so much
miracles speak loud and clear,
open your eyes to the impossible
believe and never walk in fear.
Worry changes nothing
faith opens every door,
there's nothing wrong
in hoping this life holds something more.
How do we define a miracle
in words every heart will understand,
it may take a lifetime to express
put the pen to the paper and try again.

Someone is always listening

Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones will
surely break bones
leaving scares we cannot hide,
but words can sting like bumble bees
when two wrongs simply collide.
Fractures can be fixed
while broken hearts reflect,
walls are built around the soul
if only to protect.
Sorry's such a simple word
though seldom ever said,
pride most often wins
harboring anger instead.
Sticks and stones we need not fear
it's the bruises we cannot see,
that hurt us must of all,
I honestly believe.

Suddenly With The Blink Of An Eye

The sun was brilliantly shining
it was a picture of a day,
when I starred outside my window
and watched my son at play.
Funny how quickly time passes
suddenly with a blink of an eye,
my little boy is all grown up
there's no more need for lullabies.
I remember when he was an infant
how I wished that he'd turn one,
for my sleepless nights were endless
and my chores were never done.
At two I wished that he'd turn three
so I could put the diapers away,
I never dreamed that by wishing
he'd be all grown up today.
This is the year he goes to school
how I wish he was a baby once more,
maybe I'd learn to let little things go
like dust on the furniture or
dirt on the floor.
Oh how I'd treasure each moment
if given a second chance,
but life just isn't that simple
and this is a wish that no one can grant.
Why is it we never learn before the
clock ticks away the time
to celebrate each new day
in our hearts and in our minds,
instead of looking back and asking ourselves why,
our children are all grown up
suddenly with the blink of an eye.

Survival

Survival ignites our every breath
a force that dwells within,
no matter your situation
the fight for life will always win.
It lights a fire inside of you
giving hope in your darkest of days,
keeps your head above water
while riding life's turbulent waves.
Proof we're somewhat the same
in the master scheme of things,
I am me you are you
everybody dreams.
That time will never be over and
survival out reaches it's hands,
faith is a gift that keeps on giving
beyond what the heart can comprehend.

I'm in survival mode, I dream and hope just like you.
Tears

Hopelessness and despair
in a drop of pain does fall,
from my eyes along my face
treasured memories I recall.
Alone I suffer in silence,
my hearts breaks no one knows,
I have to keep pressing onward
my future God only holds.
So many obstacles in my way
will I ever overcome,
is the light at the end of the tunnel
a sign of victory for the battles I've won?
The salty stain remains reminding
me of the fight,
I'm a tiny mustard seed, a grain
of sand in this journey called life.
Tears sometimes unnoticed
by those who cry like me,
will never fall in vain
someone always sees.
The one who placed me here
and knows what lies ahead
tears are diamonds of a different facet
rainbows of love that will always be shed.

Thank God For The Memories

Thank God for the memories
that dance inside my heart,
frozen moments in time
defining who we are.
Those flashbacks of the past
that often come and go,
reminding us of days gone by
keeping our loved ones close.
Thank God for the memories
that echo throughout time,
blessed assurance those who've
passed are never left behind.

The Locket

I have a special locket that rest above my heart,
it holds your beautiful pictures while we must be apart.
It's my hope that you're still with me no matter come what may,
so I know that I can talk to you every single day.
When I walk into a storm you're watching over there,
guiding me to sunny skies with tender loving care.
I'll never have to be alone you're always next to me,
you show me love in different ways the eyes could never see.
Your spirit fills my soul with love beyond any explanation,
with pride I'll wear it every day in total admiration.
Of the woman who changed my life and patiently awaits,
arms wide open to welcome me when I reach heavens gates.
It's never really good bye if in your heart you do believe,
a mothers love is endless, and never ever leaves.

In memory of Shirley A Fowler
For all who have lost a mother my heart goes out to you. My mom passed away from cancer Sept 2,2012. I wonder if my heart will ever stop breaking. Her pictures are in my locket and I wear it every day. She was a wonderful mother and I miss her more than words can say. I know she is with the Lord now and not suffering anymore and someday when God calls me home I will see her again. God bless
The Other Side Of The Rainbow

On the other side of the rainbow there
lies a *** of gold,
a wonderland full of fantasy where
magic never grows old.
Like a child's imagination there's
always a new surprise,
where fictional characters are real
and dragons fly.
Is it really fantasy or just a beautiful
dream,
a way to escape reality when the world isn't what it seems?
How many times have you wished on the first bright twinkling star,
or wondered about the *** of gold
as you starred at a rainbow from afar?
What is a world without wishes and
hopes for a brighter day,
and maybe those things we dream of
really aren't so far way.

The Point Of No Return

Does it exist, I wonder at times
the point of no return,
when every soul must answer
all the lessons they have learned?
Is there a light we enter,
where love is the ultimate key,
unlocking, revealing our souls
where everything's meant to be?
I walk by faith not by sight
storms will always rage,
I'm here my heart still beats
and proud to turn each page.
Death comes to us all
and the point of no return,
unconditional love
from our father above is
our greatest lesson learned.
Written in the book of life
our names are forever known,
thank God for the opportunity
to call this earth our home.
Only you can make a difference
place a star upon your crown,
live this life give your all
head held high not looking down.
The point of no return awaits
us all it's true,
for every deed you'll answer
to the one who created you.

The Power Of Self Worth

Love yourself and see your beauty
before others take a glance,
let your light shine always don't wait for a second chance.
You only have today
who you are can change tomorrow,
go the extra mile forget
about life's sorrow.
The things you work the hardest for
have a pay off in the end
learn first to love yourself,
because then and only then.
You'll finally understand
your purpose here on earth,
love yourself and celebrate
the power of self worth.
