Because of Death
Kathryn Heim Apr 2016
Because of life
we cannot see
all of heaven's
majesty;
for all remaining
on the earth
are limited by
the grave's fresh dirt,
and all that we
can grasp and feel
are wounds from grief
that never heal,
they just become
numb with time
and written about
in verse and rhyme.
But this should
not be all we see,
death, that is,
and what's not to be.

Children's prayers are pure
Kathryn Heim Jul 2016
Children's prayers are pure,
They sparkle in the night,
They're weightless in the air
traveling to heaven's door
sincere as morning light.
Collected by God
for comfort and cure
priceless,
Children's prayers are pure.

God's gravity
Kathryn Heim Jun 2016
The weight of death
spoke to me
and everything
I want to be
and everything
I want to see
will someday
just be history.
But I never seem
to care enough
to shed myself
of earthly stuff,
and though this truth
is ages old,
unlike the body
does not grow cold.
Therein lies the
eternal key
the balance of
God's gravity.

Kathryn Heim Aug 2016
God has smiled on me,
listen and you will see
all the gifts that he bestows
nurture my countenance
and it shows.
Joy, He put in my heart
peace permeates my spirit true,
Love's been there from the start,
these greatest gifts alone
would do,
but hope he grants me
everyday,
and faith remains my
treasure chest,
so with thanks and praise
I proclaim
I am the most richly blessed.

What does death want of me?
Kathryn Heim Sep 2016
What does death
want of me
the minute that
I cease to be?
For I will look death
in the eye
and know that it
will always try
to rob me of
those things I know
that nurture love
and help it grow,
the truth that lingers
in the night
is worth the struggle
and the fight
to conquer death
and all it's woes
remember this
and how it goes,
death's cause defeated
a sacred shun
happened when
God sent His son.

If agony's

then surely there
must be a hell.
And hell does
not stand
quietly by
with respect

While agony
is not the rule,
it will always
be the devil's tool.
Strength from sorrow
and peace from pain
are seen by some
as mundane,
but life that vows
to live again
will not allow
defeat to win,
and in the end
agony will
say amen.

Our thoughts go
and they wait
and they
determine

good

tears or laughter
all belong
in our daily theatre

go back
