I would kiss you
until the stars threw themselves from the heavens
and begged to be clothed in flesh and blood
that they might burn
as brightly as we.
There have been tears.
There have been faded memories.
There have been lost causes and broken hearts.
We have felt that falling in our stomachs
that comes before the pit.
We have bitten back words
that should have been set free.
We have needed closed arms that should
have been opened.
We have found ourselves in
unfriendly territory and
stayed.

We have been lost.

But we have found light.
We have felt joy.
We have laughed with meaning.
We have cried with happiness.
And we,
through the closing of coffins and building
of cradles,
the lifting sensation when a child giggles
and the wrenching sound of a breaking heart,
and these other many
and great things that are
life,
we have danced.

I have been waiting for you around the
Edges of my heart, where you lurk in
The underbrush and the shadows; still
Too lost in the rest of the world to know
To navigate back home.

I have been waiting for you in the
Pause at the end of every sentence,
the hitch of every breath, and
Within the depths of my waking lids-
Explosive starlight ablaze in my minds
Eye.

And
I have been waiting-
Patience my sedative-
For the hand that fits over
Mine and warms the chronic
Chill.

You have waited too; I can tell because
In your sleep I am always awake and
Pacing-I know you are restless
And need someone to kiss your crown
To remind you that not all kings have
Castles.

But they have riches--
my soul can promise you that.
The color red is what pushes blood through my heart
The color blue is what freeze's your every part
Your touch is as cold as the top of a mountain
My feeling isn't enough to thaw your glacier
When I woke up this morning I knew what to do
When you walked in the room I lost my feeling to spew
My words fade faster then these feelings ever will
But feelings grow stronger when you are dressed so true
I think I love you but It's Not Fair

I drink just to feel
What I had with you
I drink to bend like steel
I imagine you do too

I drink because I don’t remember
What actually occurred
That dark December
When shifty lies became blurred
See your smiling face each morning
Watch your tired eyes close at night
Take your hand at the park in the evening
Always hold you tight

Your "man" does none of these things
Has every girl in his sights
Can't even say "I love you"?
He could never treat you right

"He's just scared" you say
"Never been serious before"
So i stand here watching him hurt you
While you says he's the one you adore

But here I've been, all along
thinking about how he doesn't belong
'Cause we've been best friends since before we knew
Of high school trends or the auroras hue

I'll take your hand if you'll have mine
Tell me, who's afraid to love? Not I.
