If I were Jesus Christ,
I'd take all of your insecurities and taboos
and turn them
inton beautiful hymns,
If i were Jesus Christ
you wouldn't pray to me
instead,
once a day
you would tell the people you love
how you really feel about them
If I were Jesus Christ
cheesy teenage love letters
would be in the book of gospel
and if I were Jesus Christ
you wouldn't just love your neighbor
but your neighbor's neighbor's neighbor
and If I were Jesus Christ
I would take all of your tears
and transform them
into wine
so that we might forget
the harshness of the world
people have a tendency
to take things for granted
as if to say
it isn't good enough
to meerely be breathing
it's like
we're always wanting something more
greedy when it comes to happiness
or maybe it's just
that we aren't ever really happy
unless we're miserable
a culture which breeds masochists
we just can't see heaven
we are more focused
on worrying about which clouds
will be rain clouds

I think people are too set in their ways
Having to do things just so
Making sure never to disturb tradition
Then you came
And rebelled every thought and action
They didn't like you for that,
I did.

He wore black suspenders
and was as tall as a skyscraper.
A dark green shirt and quirky socks.
I saw nature in his posture.
His eyes stung me at a first glance.
I know I’m young but my soul is old. His hands are magic on that guitar. His voice pierced.
Glances were exchanged and before the night fell I twirled out the door.
A smile and wave is what he’ll have as a memory of me,
just a passing girl in his world of faces.

You asked me earlier
How I was
I replied I wasn't
"Okay."
That I wasn't
"Fine"
That I felt like complete
"****."
You laughed a bit
Replied with a
"Why?"
I told you everything
Except for the real reason.

I'm slowly falling
Out of love
With the man
In
    Front
              Of
                   Me.

You made me smile
Behind my tears
And I felt like the
Luckiest girl
When you told me
You were
Proud.
