I hate you.
I hate that I think about you
I hate that you don't think about me.
I hate that little things remind me of you
I hate that you forgot about me.
I hate that I talk about you
I hate that I cry about you
I hate that I still care about you
I hate that you ignore me.
I hate that I know you use me
I hate that I let you use me.
I hate that your still on my mind
I hate seeing pictures of you
I hate hearing about you
I hate being interested in what you do.
I hate texting you
I hate that you don't respond.
I hate thinking about you every day
I hate the disappointment you bring
I hate the sadness I feel.
I hate that I can't have you
I hate that I can't get away from you
I hate that I don't try to.
I'm sorry I didn't tell you at first.
I'm sorry I took my time.
I'm sorry I'm not your age.
I'm sorry we're apart.

I'm sorry we barely talk now.
I'm sorry you can't see me smile.
I'm sorry I haven't kissed you yet.
I'm sorry I sometimes make you mad.

I'm sorry I think of you all day.
I'm sorry I dream of you all night.
I'm sorry I whisper your name.
I'm sorry I can't get you off my mind.

I'm sorry I love you so much.
I'm sorry you are my life.
I'm sorry I'll never let you go.
I'm sorry I fell for your charm.
I'm sorry I can't show you how much you really mean to me. I love you.
I buried a suitcase in the sand,
It's contents to remain unknown.
Although I wish to understand
These are best if left alone:

The interactions of two
Within a circle of three,
The meaning of You
Of I and of Me.

The silence that’s found
At the sun’s first breath,
A man that has drowned
Yet experienced no death.

The alignment of power
On painted lips,
The deadliest flower-
A rose with a whip.

The interstice between
Ribs and their cages,
Guardians without wings
And the gentlest rages.

Where land touches sea-
A transient mirror,
It seemed fitting for me
To bury it here.
Silently and scrupulously looking at my dad for a minute, I asked,
"What is it like to get old?"
He turned his attention away from the computer screen
Met my gaze
Took a deep breath in, and began,

"You don't realize just how fast life goes by, until it's gone.
One day, you look in the mirror, and realize that twenty years have gone by.
It's a different person in the mirror than what you expected.
Some days, I look at your mother
And it feels like I've only known her for a few months.
Other days I look at her, and she's just so different from the woman I met.
We've grown and changed so much together.
I am, to this day, learning new things about her,
And all of them make me love her more.
Yeah, she can't cook for ****, and she talks in tangential circles
Which I just can't keep up with.
But since day one I was smitten with her.
And to this day I'm surprised that she actually chose
To spend the rest of her life with me.
Getting old with the right person makes getting old bearable."
Whenever somebody would ask my mother how her day was, she would respond,
"Getting better, just like fine wine."
Now I know why.

Eye
Have you ever looked into someone's eye?
Some come as dashingly blue as a clear days sky
Others as green as the leaf on the mighty tree
Even some as dark as blindness seems to me
But did you know that every eye tells a story?
Some of happiness, others of sadness and worry
Throughout time people will pass by
But to say they know anyone would be a lie
Unless you really spent time and looked into their eye
I want to be loved
even when I
talk too loud
or curse in public.
I want to
have someone
to come home to
who will touch my cheek
and tell me
"I've missed you."
And I think love is
knowing how damaged
someone is
but sticking around
to make sure they're fixed,
and I need someone to
stick around for me.
