There is peace to be found in the mountains,
Above traveled trails you must go,
Where the tattered cloth swings and the lark rarely sings,
and spring is a blanket of snow.

How far the sun would sink,
should it see itself a star,
in a sky full of many

Yet who of us would think,
of another twice as bright,
Gazing up at noon.

As drawn out sunsets douse the eaves
In light so bright the belly heaves
A gentle sigh of fall.

I don't like pistachios
Justin Jul 2019
He was a man of simple taste,
Of bread and oats and tea.
He did his work and made no waste,
A simple man was he.
She was the stars, the moon, the sun.
And in the field they'd play.
He wasn't born such a simple man
Time made him that way.

And for all of the trouble you make,
You're still always gone when I wake.

Masks
Justin May 2019
A mask is an external covering,
that serves the purpose of erasing your identity.

Unless you are hollow; then it is your face.
Hello other human! This is my mask =)

Lofi in Autumn
Justin Feb 2019
Be it autumn summer spring,
wind or rain or birds in sing,
there is just one simple thing,
that puts my mind at ease.

When I feel my smile dying,
Before the numb and bouts of crying
I go out with hopes of spying,
Lamplight on the leaves.
There is  a lamp on my walk to school that is surrounded by leaves that never fall off the tree. When I walk home at night it is a beautiful halo of light that never fails to lift my spirits.

Her laughter is fire in rain,
Poorly timed and extinguished in vain
and she's always lying
about how how she's dying
A death so absurdly mundane.
So lucky the death of a fool
Rusty wire on a rusted out spool
But I heard the rumor
That god sees the humor,
In watching her struggle through school.

The mountain and the sky
Justin Feb 2019
Let me touch you,
Said the earth to sky,
And the cloud settled in,
And on the mountain she lie.
They spoke of their lives,
Of lost loves and of fears,
And when the sun called her back,
All that remained were her tears.
Maybe you've seen them,
In the winter or fall,
When the mountain is barren,
And the sky comes to call,
Be it wishful thinking,
Or a trick of the light,
But I swear that I see it,
When the sun hits just right,
A smile of contentment,
On that old mountains face,
As he lays down to slumber,
In his lovers embrace.

If life were full of riches,
A mouse would sleep instead,
Not crawl around in ditches,
To keep his family fed,
He doesn't need a kingdom,
but a roof above his head,
Oh, if life were full of riches,
A mouse would sleep instead.

In a corner of infinity so tiny and young,
small people toiled to have small portraits hung,
To think themselves immortal, they all slaved all day,
and put off the future, until at last they passed away.

Obligations
Justin Oct 2017
There exists a place, or so I'm told
far beyond our dreams of gold
far removed from want or need
or evil souls sick with greed
A place we crafted with our minds,
left our wars and lives behind
and thought for once of how it'd be,
if instead of I there was only we.
The journey was long,
and the path we walked hard
as we spread our light ,
from star to star.
The journey is not over,
mankind is not grown,
there is room for improvement,
and much left unknown.
But for this you were conscripted,
and you haven't a choice
and in the swarm of exsistence
you haven't a voice,
So what must you do if you want to be heard,
Speak with your actions and temper your words.
Carry us further, set tempo and pace,
Run your leg dutifully; of the great human race.

On and island somewhere there long sat a man
with a smile on his face and drink in his hand
With skin made of ivory, and hair set ablaze
he sat on his island and stared through the waves
He laughed and murmured and occasionally cried
as he walked with them all as they waded through life
And slowly they joined him, to sit on his beach,
To laugh and to love as waves broke at their feet
When the last one had joined them and all tears were shed,
He got to his feet and joyously said,
I've been with you always, I've watched through the years.
I'm proud of you all but at long last you're here,
But where are my manners, you've all come so far,
So ladies and gentlemen, please join me at the bar.

And the ironic part is that i knew from the start,
that the whole thing was futile, yet i still played my part.

you wiggle and hissed, and lets be quite blunt,
when the hand set you down, you set out to hunt.

well you two faced *****, i'll tell you it straight,
your stuffed fulled of malice, and topped off with hate.

as for that dumb hand, i now see it as true,
that the hand that once fed me, is a ******* snake too.

Way up in the hills one night,
Inside the forests grasp,
I saw a small recording light,
And heard a sleeping rasp.
A ways a way I saw it then,
What I wasn't meant to see,
A tiny little forest tent,
And a camera in a tree.
He must be so afraid I thought
To sleep so far from home,
I knew what fear the darkness brought,
When suffered all alone.
I stayed with him til morning light,
To see that he was safe,
I chose a gift I thought was right,
And left it in my place.
He was a sturdy somber man,
A sleeping, ***** bloke,
I left him with my last balloon,
To cheer him when he woke.
In a world that breaks and bends,
And makes you feel so small,
Be just like my gift my friend,
And rise above it all.

With eyes full of tears
and defenses disarmed
I found myself crying
in the warmth of your arms
a heart broken and bleeding,
a soul aching and ripped
soon found comfort and solace
in the warmth of your lips.
and in a maze of our of minds,
and a tangle of tongues,
intertwined were our fingers,
as words spilled from our lungs.
it was poetic justice,
for a battle long fought,
as the princess lay captured,
and the captor lay caught.
and i let you be fooled,
though i knew from the start
that as i lay sleeping,
you stole a piece of my heart.

I am so bored
Justin Jun 2014
I should have died,
The mother cried,
Please let me take his place!
Take me instead,
She begged and pled,
As tears stram down her face.

To nones surprise,
He did not rise,
From his resting place,
All day she sleeps,
And waking weeps,
An anguished fall from grace.

The River Styx
Justin Jun 2014
There was a screech, a crash, a horn,
as blood was spilt and flesh was torn,
there was no air with which to yell,
as soul slipped out and spirit fell.

Down and down the spectre tumbled,
far from life and metal crumpled,
til at last his body hovered,
secrets flayed and thoughts uncovered

The man cried out, his fear was warrant
Here beside the mighty Torrent,
Ages passed as seconds ticked
He'd read the stories, he'd read of Styx.

To the man ole' Charon staggered,
beard unkempt and cheeks a' haggard,
hand outstretched, although he knew,
he would not get the penance due.

"I've got no coin, or cash or credit,
All I have is gold from Reddit."
Charon shook, then said with glee
"Redditors get in for free."

Not a single **** was found,
or given on that day,
but when the earth had circled round,
the ***** came out to play.

It's cool it's cool she used to say,
Don't worry brah it's chill,
but venom dripped with cool disdain
from words she used to ****.

She smashed and crashed and cursed and cried,
All through our house of glass,
And when the dust had settled down,
I tossed her on her ***

And now she wanders, so alone,
and now I'm free to live
You've made your bed, I laugh aloud,
*I've no ***** left to give.

We are the End
Justin Apr 2014
The water you drink has been poisoned,
The air you breath is corrupt,
The cities we nest in will crumble,
The end is near and abrupt.

Let your feet carry you to a much safer place,
Far from the idols we built,
Cherish the life you've been given,
but wallow forever in guilt

We tainted the fruits of her garden
and burned all the gifts she had grown,
From her ashes we built up our kingdom,
and in her sanctum we knelt to our throne

And now it is her time for calling,
And now it is our turn to run,
The cities we built are all falling,
The end of mankind has begun.

Snakes
Justin Apr 2014
I was born so warm and gentle,
Into this place so cruel,
I thought that I could change the world,
The world thought me a fool.

I wandered like so many do,
The path a young man takes.
A thousand apples left to bite,
Amid a sea of snakes.

They spoke to me with words like honey,
Fattened me with lies.
We were all just born to sin they said,
We were all just bred to die.

The path I walked had made me weary,
So amongst the snakes I laid,
And amongst the snakes my morals rotted,
In the prison that we made.

I tried so hard to free myself,
Against the shackles cast,
But when the serpents poisoned me,
They set me free at last.

I've grown up so cold and empty,
With mistakes that I must own.
Once my heart was soft and gentle
Now my heart is bone.

Who am I?
Justin Mar 2014
I am a product,
I have been packaged and sold.
My ideas were marketed to me.
My name was chosen from a list along with the house I grew up in.
My idea of originality was stolen from Hollywood scripts.
I strive to break free from a prison of beaten paths and clichés.
Only to choose the way of a thousand people before me.
The idea of originality is a lie.
I am a mosaic of society.

a smile spread full on his face
here's to the brother who made our poor church

here's to the brother i've grown up with
although there are many wounds yet to mend
here's to my brother as we continue to grow
adventurers until the very end
heres to the brother who led me through life
helped me as my problems arose,
heres to the brother so close to my heart,
here's to the brother i chose.

In a cell within his mind,
In a prison made of sand,
With some boots on his feet,
And a rifle in his hand,
Stands a boy we all know, but wouldn't recognize anymore.

So freaked out, so tweaked out,
On his regiment of pills,
Reliving everyday,
How his buddies all got killed.
And god bless America is the last thing on his mind,
And he tries and he cries, but there's just no hope left to find.

Up late, filled with hate,
For his country and himself,
With a bottle in his hand,
He pulls those pills down from the shelf,
I'm finally gonna do this, he shudders then he drinks.

So he makes his last confessions,
And find's solace in thoughts,
And now the little boy who left home,
Is returning in a box.
Tell everyone I love them,
Is all that the note read,
And they cry and they cry, but,
Still their little boy is dead.

My father was carved from a mountain,
his features were etched from the stone,
but like all mountains my father will crumble,
he was in need of an heir to his throne.
My brother was forged of hot iron,
no straighter a path could he walk,
he draws all his strength from the mountain,
his veins run deep through the rock.
My brother was grown in the forest,
so vivid, alive and in sync,
he draws all his strength from the ocean,
his roots thrive on the water they drink.
My mother was born of the ocean,
like a flower she bloomed from the sea,
but when the tide overcame the mountain,
all that remained on the shore was me.
I was born of my father and mother,
I crawled from the ocean and stone,
and when my father finally crumbles,
his two heirs will inherit his throne.
I will travel to nations of bloodshed,
I will not let my death go to waste,
I will lay down my life in the desert,
to keep my fathers throne safe.
