The sun rose without a thought
An uneventful whim
Casual and nonchalant
For the day to now begin
Hovering the horizon
Amidst an amber glow
Shedding light on the earth
The true star of the show

Storm has come with an outdoor glance
Loss of power leads to candle wax
Summer heat and sweet romance

Lit up like a jack-o’-lantern
Down the hallway comes
Spooky with an orange glow
And an unfamiliar hum

Caught up in the evenings plot
To have and hold or to have not
The warm airs circulations got
No other place to go

So we wait out the savage storm
Ferocious danger since it was born
Furious is it’s chosen norm
And runs it’s course till dawn

He traveled to the mountains peak
Without a word
Without a peep
To meet his idol
Seek relief
A promise that he made to keep
The upward climb
The downward steep
A notch above
A giant leap
Never to except defeat
Or run away, fall back, retreat

He’s the producer of sin
The maker of lies
That I wouldn’t have believed
If not seen by my eyes
He’s the hoarder of hatred
The one who decides
To punish the others
Just along for the ride
A rebellious rebel
That revels in stride
Not an excuse of envy
That excludes; divides
A wealth of great knowledge
That he never provides
But he’s easily mistaken
As just one of the guys

After us came loneliness
After us came grief
After us came melancholy
But it brought me pure relief
I longed for our departure
I longed for inner peace
I longed for the setting sun
That fades into the sea
I hurried to my calling
To the echo in the night
That rang inside my eardrums
And took away my sight
I ran to it with eagerness
To consume my inner soul
So that the darkness that surrounded me
Could take over control

A tiny little drop caught my eye
Drizzling like heavy mist
Falling from the sky
A torrent to an anthill
A prehistoric level gust
Sitting at the table
Purposely discussed
Hidden in the thunder
The lightning and the rain
Are unnatural occurrences
That are forever unexplained

My idols differed as I grew up
They changed from time to time
Now these days, I have just one
Which should come as no surprise
My dear old dad
He reigns supreme
The one I look up to
My friend, the one
With me, his son
My admiration grew

She dreams of moonbeams and serenades
As watches her breath in the cold
She has no time for horse play or your charades
She’s adventurous, daring, and bold
A devilish angel
Subtle and sweet
She’ll rip the rug
From right under your feet
She’ll take all your secrets
But at least she’s discrete
She’s more of a woman
Than you’ll ever meet

He sauntered and he swaggered
His movements were in step
He swung the Jolly Roger
Around his head and neck
He’d been bitten hard with venom
It coursed throughout his veins
And just before it seized him up
He told me his true name:
Skip

The birds in nests are chirping
Chirping out aloud
For everyone to hear them
Help pinpoint, where they can be found
I worried for their safety
I listened for a sound
But I did not hear another peep
Anywhere around

She huddled in the corner
She cuddled in the sheets
She asked her Lord and savior
If the two of them could meet
She promised to be casual
Quite and discrete
In a proper manner
On a getaway retreat
Just to talk about the weather
And have something sweet to eat
Not to talk about harsh subjects  
That I wouldn’t dare repeat
Or to match wits on a topic
Of which I can’t compete
But rather sit around and get some sun
In the summer heat

Day break walks along the shore
Breaking waves are opened doors
To the sea, a glimpse within
Until the next tide rolls on in
Basking in the suns warm rays
A perfect way to start the day
All while breathing in the salty air
Like no other place can quite compare

He’s a man without a shadow
His portrait looks intense
You can tell that he means business
By the way he’s dressed
Whether dark, or whether light
Whether grey, or black and white
He’s keyed in on what’s in his line of sight
Clear as day
Dark as night

I think one day I’ll cease to breathe
Watch from above while family grieves
Move on with the passing breeze
And fly among the stars
These are things I often see
In a lucid thought, or a vivid dream
Never quite sure which way to lean
Knowing not for sure

I still remain cautious
I’ve talked with the dead
I listened and learned to all that was said
They spoke about horrors
About the things they had done
Flying like Icarus into the sun
I wasn’t judgmental
I let them speak their peace
I just stood there while gazing
Watching their demons release
Into the cosmos
Beget or be gone
Nurture your offspring
Don’t string them along
And your prayers will be answered
Your voice will be heard
Then you can fly like an angel
With wings like a bird

‪It’s what I see and believe‬
‪Like lily pads, and lotus leaves‬
‪The wind whispers in a steady breeze‬
‪So I follow and dare not take the lead ‬
‪The wind, it pushes at my back‬
‪It leaves breadcrumbs down, for me to track‬
‪It fills the void for what I lack‬
‪And makes sure my mind remains intact‬

Disbelief by what we can see with eyes
Or what our brain constructs; contrives
Reality then splits; divides
Into a realm of oneiric dreams
What we perceive as a mirage
Is in fact, pieces of a grand montage
Resorting to both **** and dodge
Euphoric pandemonium

I love your words
The way that you speak
But it’s the things that you say
That make me feel weak
It’s your wording, your use
Your eloquent tongue
That revives, brings to life
And makes me feel young
It’s your pronunciation
Your poetry lips
Your double entendres
Your Freudian slips
It’s an enchanting echo
Of musical bliss
That captures my heart
With dreams of a kiss

Silky smooth crushed velvet
Brushed against my skin
Softer than an angels kiss
Before committing mortal sin
Destined for damnation
To my flock I must attend
Leading to the brassy truth
Until the bitter end

They rambled on and babbled
Although I’ve ciphered out the code
It’s all just interference
Meant to keep it tempered; slowed
The signal’s getting weaker
Yet, I still made out a verse
It had to do with outer space
And blowing up the earth!

‪There’s color to be seen in black and white‬
‪You just have to know where to look ‬
‪It’s in the streets and on the corners‬
‪And even in some books‬
‪The colors range in bright lit hues‬
‪Where the blandness can be misconstrued ‬
‪Like with a bunch of helium filled balloons‬
‪The reds, the yellows, greens and blues‬

Then there’s the art of true romance
Much less than a stare
A moderate glance
Our eyes
Tell lies
Well worth
The chance
Just a victim of circumstance
Play the game
Dance the dance
Or sit back
Get high
And fall into a trance

For the mask that hides your smile
I am drawn into your eyes
No words, just staring eyeballs
Are my victory and prize
And with your bodies movements
I am taken by surprise
For the essence of its nature
Are the laws being defied
A tender touch of comfort
A stolen glance of fate
Although our mouths are covered
I’ll just be patient and wait

Slightly shaded under sunny skies
My skin grows tan
My throat runs dry
There’s whispers of winter
There’s proof in my eyes
The seasons, they change
But the sun always shines
Peaceful, serine
No tales or white lies
Today is one of the finest days
Since I’ve been alive

Despite a natural bias
Against someone I won’t name
I always treated them with dignity
And liked them just the same
It’s only when I noticed
That they were not to blame
That I showered them with my love
And I showed some true restraint

There’s little warmth from a setting sun
I’m broken in more ways than one
The seasons change, and time grows thin
Still, I remain in my own skin
I aim to see the break of dawn
I wish on stars, then ****, they’re gone
So I’m gonna wait till they return
And give away what should be earned
A heart of gold, a caring thought
But they say that love cannot be bought
So I wait within a moments time
But the punishment does not fit the crime
So I think and introspect
And console my heart and it’s neglect
I ponder all the time in which I spent
Investing in the tears I’ve wept
The constant lies and disrespect
All the promises I’ve made and kept
I am no doormat or fawner for you

I must come first, second to none

Children hanging, twirling, swinging
Off the jungle gym
Can’t see a reason not to
Get to it on a whim
Children jumping, laughing, singing
Outdoors in the sun
Enjoying healthy living
Smiling, having fun

I dreamt of you
and dreams come true
I haven’t any doubt
I never had a single clue
What you were all about
But now I have a different view
I took a different route
A feeling that’s completely new
For me to figure out

I was hanging off a *****
The angle, sort of steep
I tried to cross the threshold
But I misjudged my leap
Now, I’m dangling from a mountaintop  
My cause of loss of sleep
Me falling to my fatal end
Without shedding tears to weep

You had my undying devotion
With just a simple little motion
Setting sail out into the sea
But, between all of the commotion
Sailing on the ocean
That’s when everything got swept up in the breeze
At first the wind was swirling
Which caught us by surprise
But all got calm and quiet

The glimmer in the water
With its gold and shiny glare
Is the jewel above the water
Priceless beyond compare
The ripples cast a shadow
That sometimes dulls the shine
Of the reflection in the water
But that’s all well and fine

Each new day brings with it
A new start and a smile
A first step towards the ending of a metaphoric mile
A shimmer of hope at the end of your rope
Which you haven’t felt in a while
Doing it with a touch of class
A sense of flair and style
Something that you haven’t felt since you were just a child
A resilience that resists all doubt
Whether caged or in the wild
And that can form the basis of
An ego in denial

I implore you to go to the ocean
To watch the setting sun
To spare a moment in your busy day
From always on the run
Watch the painted canvas
The oranges and the reds
The purple hues
The pink, the blues
On the horizon up ahead

You’re exceptionally high voltage
Electric pulse and surge
You expel bolts of lightning
When you feel the urge
You’re always causing static
You shock me every time
I feel your electric energy
Still goes undefined

I see hatred manifesting without knowledge of facts
Words being uttered, in hateful attacks
One sided views, never having walked in their shoes
In the absence of clues, still spewing hate and abuse
I see a divide, by what we see in the press
Devoid of solution, only instigating protests
A struggle for power, without morals, for greed
Regardless of the suffering, by those most in need
They say that our actions speak louder than words 
Yet, we turn a blind eye to the ill and disturbed
I see only division, when we should come together as one
By every human alive, on the planet we live on, with only one sun
Without change, we will suffer
We’re headed towards doom
If we don’t replenish what’s taken
And only consume

I could not revive
The sycamore tree
Sickened by disease
A tree that stood a hundred years
An entire century
It had succumb to a virus
That made it lose its leaves
And now the naked sycamore tree
Shivers with the breeze

Time is of the essence
It’s time to expedite my love
Before time is gone forever
Lost or lack thereof
There’s a bounty for your kisses
You’re most extraordinaire and fair
I could court you like a gentleman
Or hug you like a bear

Filling a void
Feelings suppressed
Pounding the pavement
Beating my chest
For generations to follow
Who’ve flown from their nest
All it encompasses
And all it protects
From abusive behavior
To just plain neglect
It’s a face with a voice
Demanding respect

There’s nowhere left to run and hide
When two worlds collide
Just time left to say goodbye
Wiping tears away from eyes
As a race we did some good
We even landed on the moon
But alas, we all went quietly
One doomsday afternoon

A multifarious of options
Evaluating each
Climbing up the ladder
To goals I haven’t reached
Be it only superficially
A smile I shall don
Until the day I meet the peak
Of the course that I’m now on

She’s lying in an empty field
On a bed of grass and leaves
Alone to daydream freely
About things no one believes
No one will take her seriously
Her thoughts, her hopes, her dreams
So she lies in wait, as her mind creates
An elaborate flawless scheme

She wore a diamond gown
A million dollar dress
She still wore a scowl
And looked very distressed  
A spoiled rotten diva
Who never gets impressed
Daddy’s little princess
Says so on her chest
Looking for a suitor
By all accounts, be my guest

‪Once my days were quite serene‬
‪My nights were there for me to dream‬
‪Now I wake and emanate a scream‬
So I ate and ate all the ice cream
There’s no more food, just canned sardines
‬I’ve completely lost my self esteem
There seems to be a pressing theme
I don’t want to turn in to a crying meme
I’m so bored indoors for quarantine‬
When will they concoct a new vaccine‬
Maybe under a new regime?

It’s hard to get noticed
When you’re quiet and reserved
Hard to get that promotion
You undoubtably deserve
It’s hard to get respected
For the time that you put in
But yet you keep on showing up
Without a smile, but with a grin
You play the game
Within the rules
It’s in your repertoire of tools
Nothing ventured
Nothing gained
If every day remains the same

The shadow man
Is the man
Behind the saxophone
His cap is on
His cheeks are red
And hot ****, he’s in the zone!
Now shadow man
Has some fans
That came to watch the show
He plays with heart
He plays like art
And you know he plays with soul!
