It’s the creature of the black lagoon
The ware wolf on a bright full moon
Fear is found in scary scenes
Like Dracula and vampire screams
Or Frankenstein with a bolt of light
On a frightening rainy night
Dark gray clouds and lightning skies
Now waiting for the dead to rise
Zombies with a taste for man
Scouring a wasted land
What’s hiding underneath the bed?
The boogie man inside your head?

I dreamt of you
and dreams come true
I haven’t any doubt
I never had a single clue
What you were all about
But now I have a different view
I took a different route
A feeling that’s completely new
For me to figure out

Atomic and cosmic
I orbit into space
Having never seen before
Such a pretty face
Elegant, yet casual
Personified by grace
I mustn’t let this occasion
Go to any waste
Fair skinned and beautiful
Imperfections, not a trace
Her flowing hair and emerald eyes
Help to justify the chase

Gone in a second
Gone in a flash
Through introspection
I took off in a dash
I’ve relinquished my freedom

Lies had been told to me
Since way back in my youth

With the system we live in

The glimmer in the water
With its gold and shiny glare
Is the jewel above the water
Priceless beyond compare
The ripples cast a shadow
That sometimes dulls the shine
Of the reflection in the water
But that’s all well and fine

Sees the birds
On the outside porch
Cat let’s nature
Take its course
Predator and prey alike
Know not when
It’s time to strike
Teeth are sharp
Their eyes are keen
Vicious when
They feel the need
Fierce and quick
Reflexes sound
Much softer than
A cats meow

The seagulls lift their wings to fly
Scavenging with their beady eyes
In a flock, above the beach
There’s nothing safe or out of reach
They’ll plot their course
They’ll take a risk
They’ll dive on in
For bread or fish
They’ll take and take
Then fly away
To try again another day

I lay down to sleep
But I’m still awake
The clock keeps on ticking
Despite what’s at stake
My eyelids stay open
As the minutes, they pass
Lying awake with thoughts of the past
The moon fades away
And the sun starts to rise
Now all that I’m feeling
Are tears in my eyes
I never found dreamland
Oh, what a surprise
I must carry this burden
That I’ve come to despise
I tried to focus, I tried to count sheep
But I’m stifled and stirred
Still, I can’t fall asleep
I’m encompassed by darkness
Yet I can’t sleep a wink
I just ponder solutions
Until I’m brought to the brink
To the brink of destruction
Until I get some rest
And I fall into slumber
My mission, my quest

A tiny little drop caught my eye
Drizzling like heavy mist
Falling from the sky
A torrent to an anthill
A prehistoric level gust
Sitting at the table
Purposely discussed
Hidden in the thunder
The lightning and the rain
Are unnatural occurrences
That are forever unexplained

I open my eyes
And I’m mesmerized
By the beauty I’m laying beside
I jumped and I leapt
For the love you’d accept
Through masks and other forms of disguise
I slept and I dreamt
Of my failed attempts
And that is why…
There was one shoe left on the step
By someone I’m inclined to despise

Your eloquent tongue
That revives, brings to life
And makes me feel young

Your double entendres
Your Freudian slips

The bride to be

Where did it all falter

To watch the setting sun

Watch the painted canvas
The oranges and the reds
The purple hues
The pink, the blues
On the horizon up ahead

It happens around midnight
When the clock strikes twelve
Such a specific time of day
To be chiming from the shelf
Cuckoo bird peeking out
Percision and precise
Right on time
As it’s designed
A magnificent device

The seashell washed ashore
That rode in on the tide
Looking for a hermit crab
To seek shelter inside
A cover for protection
A most welcoming host
Then to head back to the ocean
And vanish off the coast

Stealing amorous glances
With my object of desire
Levitating in euphoria
Over an open fire
Until I feel its warmth
Until ecstasy’s achieved
Till the fire gets so hot
The flames forget to breathe
Until the fires out
Taken by the breeze
A ghost of its former self
That goes away and leaves
Vanished out of sight
Never again seen
Only bits and pieces
Of a long forgotten dream

The child was obstreperous
All throughout his days
He was a borderline miscreant
In oh so many ways
They gave him meds
To calm him down
To harness all his rage
Then one day it clicked
Despite the war he waged
And he grew into a fine young man
Freed from his ball and chain

Every single second of every single day
It’s driving home the message that I’m about to go insane
I’m sick of the smiling
The greetings
The pay
I wish I could just leave it
And go far away
I’m tired, so tired
No more time for play
So I’ll just sit here and I’ll rot
As my body decays

There’s nowhere left to run and hide
When two worlds collide
Just time left to say goodbye
Wiping tears away from eyes
As a race we did some good
We even landed on the moon
But alas, we all went quietly
One doomsday afternoon

Nothings so divine
As turning water into wine
A practice that’s gone on before our time
Taking no more than a sup
We drink from golden cups
And look for others easy enough to find
To stew with us a brew
One or maybe two
Down the hatch and up the shoot
Biting off more than you could chew

You’re exceptionally high voltage
Electric pulse and surge
You expel bolts of lightning
When you feel the urge
You’re always causing static
You shock me every time
I feel your electric energy
Still goes undefined

For the mask that hides your smile
I am drawn into your eyes
No words, just staring eyeballs
Are my victory and prize
And with your bodies movements
I am taken by surprise
For the essence of its nature
Are the laws being defied
A tender touch of comfort
A stolen glance of fate
Although our mouths are covered
I’ll just be patient and wait

I was born into a hectic state
In a country well to do
Compared to the whole world at large
Our flag bled red, white, and blue
I was proud of where I came from
I even joined up to fight our foes
Until I grew a tad bit older
And more and more became exposed
About the lies, the crooks, the crimes
The power hungry minds
I found out freedom, was just a made up word
That was misleading by design
Happiness was no sure thing
The struggle was too real
They taxed for greed
Not what we need
For our hungry, lost, and ill
So many lost and jaded
By what our government’s created
With false information and all rhetoric
That’s antiquated and outdated
Their lofty goals, revealed, exposed
Placating their ideals, for the voters polls
And as their power grows
Their true intentions show
Yet we sit silently complacent
Despite those that are opposed

Tranquility of the infinite
The all-knowing center eye
For the dream that lasts eternity
To live before we die
To avoid the tempting darkness
By capturing the light
And to harness it eternally
From morning dusk till night

I’m afraid of what you might not do
With no big dreams to persue
You want to start your life anew
So you could believe that dreams come true
And if you dreamed, then you fell short
Then failure would be your last resort
Give some effort, show some drive
Then make believe you’re still alive
And if obstacles get in your way
Then bend down on your knees and pray
Ask the Lord to please forgive
Then start your life and really live

Uncovered in the rain
To help saturate the pain
And watch as all the teardrops
Go swirling down the drain
Packed up in a suitcase
Where the precious cargo soaks
Will they drown in innocence
And dash away all hopes?
Or have a brighter future
By getting shown the ropes?

I found my salvation in paradise
Sitting in sand under trees
Overlooking the ocean at sunset
My heart washed away by the seas
I’ll never give up or surrender
And I listen for soft melodies
To lift up my spirit from nothing
And to forget about old tragedies
My actions came under some scrutiny
So I got up and started to leave
It was then I remembered my mantra
Which helped put my mind back at ease
Never give up or surrender
I’m sure everyone would agree
That this is indeed a good mantra
And this is the right way to be

Then there’s the art of true romance
Much less than a stare
A moderate glance
Our eyes
Tell lies
Well worth
The chance
Just a victim of circumstance
Play the game
Dance the dance
Or sit back
Get high
And fall into a trance

I see hatred manifesting without knowledge of facts
Words being uttered, in hateful attacks
One sided views, never having walked in their shoes
In the absence of clues, still spewing hate and abuse
I see a divide, by what we see in the press
Devoid of solution, only instigating protests
A struggle for power, without morals, for greed
Regardless of the suffering, by those most in need
They say that our actions speak louder than words 
Yet, we turn a blind eye to the ill and disturbed
I see only division, when we should come together as one
By every human alive, on the planet we live on, with only one sun
Without change, we will suffer
We’re headed towards doom
If we don’t replenish what’s taken
And only consume

Writing is the chance to have my voice be heard
With a sentence, word for word
That I may speak my own ideas
In black and white, as it appears
And when I’m gone
My words will last
In the archives of days gone passed
When something old becomes again new
All written from my point of view

To you, I propose

Please accept this token
A token of my love
A ring that’s made to shine

From the moment that I saw her
It was her radiant allure
Having left a trail of broken hearts
In pieces on the floor
It added to her mystique
Her abilities, and more
Whispers heard from ear to ear  
Grew her legend and her lore

Today’s world might seem bleak and grim
Without much color, decor, or trim
Yet there are things that still fill my heart to the brim
That nature provides seemingly on a whim
Like the birds, the trees, the fields of grass
And the mountains, sky, and their sheer mass
When the moments arrive and the moments pass
Stop for a second, because life goes fast
Smell the roses, count to 10
Then continue on, back again
Take a breath and take a bow
And live in the moment because the time is now

The stigma of my hysteria
Is a rollercoaster of a ride
The ups and downs
The ins the outs
And also side to side
It’s enough to make one nauseous
Completely sick to death
Not knowing how to cope at all
With the thoughts inside my head

Filling a void
Feelings suppressed
Pounding the pavement
Beating my chest
For generations to follow
Who’ve flown from their nest
All it encompasses
And all it protects
From abusive behavior
To just plain neglect
It’s a face with a voice
Demanding respect

Despite a natural bias
Against someone I won’t name
I always treated them with dignity
And liked them just the same
It’s only when I noticed
That they were not to blame
That I showered them with my love
And I showed some true restraint

I once was fresh and vital
Young and full of pep
I’d climb up the highest peak
Leaping each and every step
But today I sing a different tune

And perish with unripened fruit
Now that I’m a dried up grape

Along the open meadows
Near the trees lined in a row
Horses run and frolic
Like they did so long ago
They’re left alone, and free to roam
On acres of green grass

They’re big and bold
With manes of gold
They’re muscular and fast
They’re majestic and they’re statuesque
They’re elegant, with class

She set the night alight
She set the world ablaze
It all came second nature
In the most spectacular of ways
She took a vow of silence
But she had something to say
So she spoke a different language
With visual displays

Time is of the essence
It’s time to expedite my love
Before time is gone forever
Lost or lack thereof
