The watchman who awakens the sleeper
blurry eyed
doubting the images
that have been held inside.
I am the sleeper who has risen
no longer held captive in my internal prison.
It's like an invisible bridge
without an external rope
I am crossing it now...
with a leap to faith
and, a lot of hope.
I once was blind
but now I see
I am free...
I've been holding the key
(this whole time)
I was born with it ...
it's been inside of me.

She viewed her body from above
laying inside the claw foot tub
her famous photographs were strewn about...
ones that had earned her
so much clout
A soft breeze fluttering about...
blew the white curtain in and out...
she flew on down to the New York streets
another view of the freaks n' geeks
to seize the day
her shutter release firing away...
gazing into strangers eyes
capturing truth...
discarding lies
she could see the beauty they held inside
of those on the fringe
(that used to hide)
giving them hope ...
a new sense of pride.
In the end it was all too much...
for all their pain
her soul had touched.

Welcome Back To This, Your Isle

The rabbits beneath the deck,
Even the pesky deer who eat the shrubbery,
Sea creatures, living and spirits of the dead,
Lying on the paths and in the creeks of Silver Beach,
All inquire:

Was it better wherever you went?

Were the:

Bears, hiding in the forests outside Berlin,
Eagles, double headed, of Russia
Herring, fried, creamed, wined,
From the vendors on the docks of
Helsinki, Riga, Visby and Tallinn,
Salmon, smoked and cured in Stockholm,
More impressive,
Tastier than our striped bass,
Island cohorts of yours, who waited patiently
For their chronicler to return?

Did the Little Mermaid and her Dolphin
Guardians of the Port of Copenhagen
Welcome you more warmly than your friends,
The ospreys, lizards, turtles and owls
Who overwatch your steps and safety
When hiking in Mashomack Preserve?

Are the interlacing tidal creeks,
Woodlands, fields, salt marshes and the ragged,
Irregular but charmed coastline of this cherished island
Any lesser than those of Scandinavia?

Are the sea-going ferries that transverse the
Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland,
More poetic than the Menantic or the Lt. Joe,
Who carry you swiftly home to us?

The National Geographic people say that in
Tivoli Gardens, The Amerikaner (ha!) waffle ice cream cone
Is one of the ten best in the world.
Guessing they have not made it yet to the
Tuck Shop for some Moose Tracks!

Were you unaware that our isle settled before
Peter the Great ever envisioned creating the grand
Boulevards of his capitol, St. Petersburg,
Route 114 was a traveled forest path,
By settlers and Indians, not serfs.

Of the Treasures, the Gold Room of the Hermitage,
The Amber Room of Catherine's Palace,
Wrote not a single word, we observe.
Your attentions, they did not deserve?

The answers all, self evident.

Here, surrounded by the gentle breezes of
Long Island Sound and Gardiners Bay,
Sweet and salty flavors of the Peconic atmosphere,
Words unlocked, from your eyes to the page fall,
Smudged by joyous tears, for the muses of the island
Have embraced you yet again and rebirthed
Inspiration, within their comforting, sheltering grasp.

Silver Beach

I prayed for a man I've never knew existed until today
His poem made it seem like he was walking through a forest of fray
'I use to believe in God'
Was a line in one of his poems, I knew the Devil had clawed
Deeply into his heart
And planted hatred, and ripped it apart

Mad for the things that have happened to him
Mad about the things that could have been

A man who's 'hope rides on mountains'
Hope that frequently goes up and down

I cried for this man I've never met
This man I will never forget

A man I've never met
Doesn't anyone want a moment of silence, nothing but a blank page to hide in.
To hear nothing, not even your own breath.
To see chaos, but not hear it.
Stay locked.
Let your mind soar into oblivion.
A blank page.
For you to ***** up,
throw away.
To start over.
A blank page like this once was.
Poetry you are my blank page.

Blank page.
Find it.
My eyes are mirrors with a vein connected straight to my heart
And when I see your soul it reflects back in mine
And breaks my heart all over again
Lover in love with another girl
I want to cry but I keep it crackling inside
I don't want to care but I do
In my closest, hidden caverns I hide a vile idea
Vile for me in the least
That you will come back to me someday
I can't help but love you even when I hate you
Drowning in memories I cannot hold for more than a moment
This is my forever downfall
