I crawl through the thicket
Jack Jun 2014
O’er windswept conclusions a’ mist in the air
In fragrance that comes to my heart ever share
Of sundrenched magnolia beneath empty shade
To steal every ounce of your caring my way
I touch to the heavens a wing and a prayer
Belief in the joy that is felt everywhere
When the oceans fall further than all eyes can see
This love will eternally find you from me

When clouds of confetti, the song of the dove
The sweetest rendition of musical love
Does float on the breezes of everyday flow
A’ twisting and turning until it can show
Those mountains of glory that stand in the way
Exceeding the plan that we set forth this day
Can not comprehend what my pure love will do
No matter the hurdle, I send it to you

Since dawn hath approached in a place before time
So simple the earth as our life does unwind
Nor flowers of blossom still yet find the ground
A desolate nature lies lost in its sound
Lone rivers of feelings that one can not see
O’er rain cast endeavors drop life from the sea
Till all that is new shines a star up above
The light of its journey shall bring you my love

From deserts of sand to a sandy white shore
The pain shall be nothing each day I endure
I crawl through the thicket, my hands and my knees
If only a moment your sweet life to please
Not depths of the valleys found in them so deep
Nor locked away caverns of which I do creep
Shall keep me from finding the pathway to you
To bring you a love that is ever so true

Sip the fruits
Jack Jun 2014
Sip the fruits

Drinking from the silver chalice
To your lips in grand design
Taste the life that waits to greet you
Sip the fruits of promised wine

Slowly feel the warmth so filling
Close your eyes in wondrous bliss
Sunny skies and apple blossoms
On your mouth the finest kiss

Smiles float on windswept sonnets
In the shade formed high above
Checkered red and cotton flowing
Melodies of written love

Calling forth on chambered sighs
To your skin a sweet caress
Visions of a rosebud rainbow
Butterflies and tenderness

Peppermints on stemmed affection
Open arms to show the way
Poems penned to tug your heart strings
Painted in a vast array

This and so much more I send you
Wrapped with ribbon, satin bow
Only searching for your smile
Hoping soon to see it show

What is it to smile
Jack Jun 2014
What is it to smile…

when the eyes you cherish
turn from you,
peering off into the distance,
seeking another sight,
encased in a theme
that does not include you?

What is it to desire…

if what you long for hides
behind curtains of pain,
blacked out windows
redirecting the sunlight
to a place
that longs for nothing?

What is it to breathe…

within a life that does not matter,
in full view of your imagination
crumbling like so much dust
beneath cushions of your heart,
mingling with lost change
alone in muffled visions?

What is it to love?

Dancing on a constellation
Jack Jun 2014
~

Deep within the patterns of a woven ember’s light
Truth becomes a filament that channels every thrill
Illuminating on the sky as features form the void
Culminating in our hearts that gladly find its will

Serpentine unwindings through the great expanse of space
Capturing a falling star for but a moment brief
Pondering our every thought as heaven sends its beam
Fueling both the fire and our happy hearts belief

Hand in hand we fly upon a moonbeam made of love
Dancing on a constellation, sharing of its light
Casting off the reasons why this day should ever end
Following the movements of this endless evening flight

Ours is but a journey that will bring us to the dream
Only in an atmospheric setting shall we play
Here before our eyes awaits the life we wish to start
While we row with happiness throughout the Milky Way

Ribbons of a cosmic flow now touch our every pore
Beauty calms the wake before the majesty we’ve seen
Safely carried by a stream celestial in design
As the night does paint the sky in volumes so pristine

Now we gaze upon this realm as wide as is our love
Time will be the portal which together we walk through
Welcomed in a fashion that invites our honest smiles
As this day the universe does know that I love you

Pure heart so fine in charcoal skies
of breath my mind does see
This captured feeling locked inside,
alone as to believe

For what shall come of morning tides
along the wish filled shore
In seashell decorated time,
to want a little more

What sent this ship of harbor dreams
to sail a course so lost
As currents bide my every whim,
now simplified the cost

When once the sun rise happiness
did take a weathered turn
For but a few words offered up
in lessons I have learned

My sails, the moon’s reflective light
does glow an empty grin
Atop the wave’s deserted flight
to want this love again

For this shall be my journey true
in aimless rambled roam
If I have not the love of you
I sail these seas alone

Of courses kept in lock and key,
an island beach does call
Upon this deck on bended knee,
the darkness comes to fall

As life does raise its mighty hand
of you that I do seek
Collapsing firm upon this man
in testament so weak

Come set these chains that hold me tight,
my body craves the pain
As on these seas of bright moon light,
I cry within the rain

When time does dance and hours pass,
I plead to charcoal skies
Explain to me how this can be
in scenes before my eyes

Take me home, my heart does scream,
begin these days anew
My life it lives a constant dream
for but the love of you

The Miles in Between

~

A crescent moon now overhead
As I come rising from my bed
Remembering the words I said
A few short hours ago
~
Like linens hanging on the line
The clouds a comfort for my eyes
In secrets whispered on the skies
Along with breezes flow
~
I wonder of this time apart
As longings cling so tight my heart
In gilded frame like precious art
The sun comes into view
~
When then my open eyes can see
The man that I can surely be
If only you would come to me
Whatever I must do
~
With endless trees and hills to climb
My aches, my pains on borrowed time
The distant church bells set to chime
The miles in between
~
I follow on in destined task
Is it too much for me to ask
Within your arms I long to bask
If you know what I mean
~
To stumble on the crooked path
And weep these tears of aftermath
For comes the heat of summer wrath
In everything so new
~
I wander here and wander there
In hopes to show you that I care
With you my dreams I long to share
Until my days are through

Sail on, sail on
Jack Jun 2014
~

Of light at play…day’s end, to cease
Now mirrored of a rippled sea
Casting long in shadowed dreams
A drifting silhouette…at peace

Sail on, sail on,
currents feed this destined course

Arcs, spun gold…on dance card wings
Lemon dust, the sifted sound
Framed of flowing tangerine
Silence sings…as truth is found

Sail on, sail on,
captured breezes…quiet source

Abstract waves…in curtained sweep
Drape this ocean’s fantasy
Melodic so the depth to breathe
Champagne tints the tapestry

Sail on, sail on,
horizon’s beckoned rendezvous

Citrine jeweled on zephyr’s flight
Calmly cools in twilight feel
Motions quell the rhythm’d night
Beliefs this sun shall soon conceal

Sail on, sail on,
as daylight disappears from view

Finished - for Paula
Jack May 2014
I stood at the crossroads, staring at
directions collected to confuse me
Seeking a shadow that was not my own
Finding street signs pointing past my dreams,
where my new life might lead
and with closed eyes I moved forward

Heard the *** holes laughing
Paused for a passing thought
Felt the sun on my shoulders
Sang a song in my mind without words

Then walked towards the future (let the potholes laugh)
My head held high…one step at a time

Alone…I think not,
as faces appear on the horizon, and they are smiling,
waving me on…challenging me to the tape
Reminding me that the finish line…
is just the beginning
Dedicated to my good friend Paula Lee.

Fresh Air
Jack May 2014
~

You ask is it fresh, is what fresh I say

The air that I feel on this warm summer day

That soft blowing breeze, which flows past my face

Invisible flight, no color, no trace

But there is no taste, no texture, no feel

If I say it is fresh, would you think I’m for real?

Surely you would, why would I lie

Fresher than fresh, direct from the sky

Just made this morning, a few minutes ago

How fresh do you need it, just let me know

I’ve got plenty in stock; in fact it’s on sale

Marked down today, you just can not fail

The price is just right, affordably so

Enjoy it right here or get it to go

Hundreds of uses, I'll bring them to light

For sailing a boat or flying a kite

For waving a flag or messing your hair

Nothing is better than fresh blowing air

Makes tumbleweeds move on their dry arid trip

Causes discarded paper to roll and to flip

Moves bright colored pinwheels to happily spin

Turns clothes on the line inside out, outside in

And open a window, you’ll see what I mean

That musty old room will smell new, crystal clean

And birds love it too, it helps them to fly

It dries up the streets if some rain passes by

It can come from the north, the west or the east

Or even the south if I dare say the least

It can be cold, chilled to the bone

Or hot as the sun, up there all alone

Blowing softly or hard, hardly blowing at all

Throughout summer and spring and winter and fall

There’s fresh air by day and fresh air by night

Whatever you choose is sure to be right

You’ve so many choices, other places to go

Before you decide, I just want you to know

My air is the best, that’s what I’ve been told

Just look at the sign, over one billion sold

So buy it from me, you won’t have a care

Is it fresh, you may ask...it’s the freshest fresh air

Where that mist does clear
separating along routes placed of stone
hanging silently in the sky though parted
vertical visions in distant awnings shade
and porch boards creak at the weight of the day
I stare…wishing I hadn’t

First light of day breaks my mind
counting fence post soldiers, lined and ready
barbed wire connections glisten
for dew finds no better place to rest
and footprints fade into words
I listen…wishing I hadn’t

The sun now cries angrily upon my face
draining all desire from wilted pores
claiming a lonely spot in the heavens
creating shadows of a past whim
melting my heartbeat into the pulse of this life
I live…wishing I hadn’t

Through wooden blinds uneven slats
the sun appears to shine
Beyond the storms of later night,
in just the nick of time

With cooler breeze of air to flow
and wishing wells so deep
Dreams cast in coins to bottoms fall
that you my heart shall keep

For in this winded poet stirs,
a passion constant strong
The feel for words to touch your soul
amidst a summer's song

With distant far off tendencies,
to reach is but a chore
Yet through these words I hope you find,
it’s you I do adore

And I shall take this sunrise glow
with every breath as new
Believing it is sent with love,
to me from only you

Such is the heart of a dreamer
Sought after deep in the mist
Seeking the quest of a thirsting desire
Falling to nights just as this

Peering the distant endeavor
Calling the places I’ve known
Sending out visions so endless in wonder
Standing this ledge all alone

Come to my heart always steady
Shape it as how it should be
Teach me the ways of your unending song
Lyrics of comfort to me

Lift me for thou hath once spoken
Take from my words on the page
Collections of feelings I wear on my sleeve
Shine me the light of your ways

I am of clay so unmolded
Bend me and shape me to form
Open my heart with the keys of your love
While dying I wish to be born

Caverns so wide as I forage
The depth of their wisdom vast deep
Shadows that follow the pathways I walk
Stairways my heart it doth reach

Yours is my desperate reason
Clinging to every fold
Challenges lie in wake of the storm
Northerly winds blow a’ cold

I shan’t recoil destinations
My mind it is set on the prize
Temptingly so it does fan every flame
Come I shall soon realize

Time for the moment an enemy
Season’s of past now I fear
For as I declare my longing for thee
Wishing you ever so near

Trapped as I traverse the mountain
Chains of my pain garner tight
Reaching for avenues lost in the fog
Blinded by darkness of night

Time I will relive the mornings
Joined by a perfect content
Welcoming sun rise as everywhere glows
Finding the hours we’ve spent

Trusting that no one is watching
Holding your hand on the street
Wrapping my arms round your waist for a while
Kissing your lips soft and sweet

Words that will require actions
Motions in spite of the sky
Threatening with clouds overhead as I walk
Waving the past a good bye

Now as my life is beginning
Fortunate flags sure to wave
Sending a secret embedded in stone
Caution for this I do crave

Asking this long winded journey
Steps in the grass for to find
Destiny praises my unfettered dreams
Spent as the heart does unwind

Yours is the hand that I reach for
Save me in spite of my tears
Love me for many more wars shall invade
Filling the city with fear

Run with me out to the fields
Keep me in sight at all turns
Paint me with colors so vibrant and true
Teach me for I want to learn

I can not be so untrue
Pressures no longer to hide
Truth is my shield as it shines ever gold
Honesty I shall confide

Come to my heart it is waiting
Here in this darkened abyss
Shining so bright for your eyes now to see
Longing for you that I miss

I promise you shall not be sorry
Taking this chance is the key
Found in the corners of words so inspired
True as my covenant be

I whisper my truth through the mountains
Breathless I run to the shore
Hopeful I patiently wait your reaction
Longing for you evermore

Soft is the sonnet of willows
Psithuric winds form the stream
Blowing so that you may welcome my peace
Singing the songs of your dreams

Mine is a tiresome journey
Fortunes all cast to the bay
Every dollar I’ve owned as a man
Spent in a fortunate way

For this is my precious possession
A heart that does beat from above
Carefully showing the face of the plan
Showering you with my love

Rain on the valley of passion
Petrichor scent brings the breeze
Take from this night the joys of affection
Lingered in fresh memories

This I do pledge, crossing my heart
No longer wishing to die
Rivers of hope that do wash on your feet
Sent forth attempting to try

Cherishing love that I find
Wanting forever to be
Everything that you do see in your soul
All that’s expected of me

I am but only one person
Doing just what I will do
Being myself in the face of the storm
Sending my love up to you

There is no mask I am wearing
This smile you see is for real
I can not be something that I am not
All of my life I reveal

Hoping that you understand this
Praying my words written of
Things that my heart wants to tell you my dear
Penned now with only my love

Such is the heart of a dreamer
Seeking not silver and gold
My only dream is that you love me true
Just as my dreams have foretold

So soft is the sonnet of willows
Wind through their branches blows free
Whispering dreams evermore shall come true
When you are standing with me
I realize this is a long one and if you choose not to read the entire thing, I understand

Destination of dreams
Jack May 2014
~

Maps are folded and re-folded into pocket sized
destinations of our own heart’s desires

Routes become numbers and numbers become moments
as the planning cycle, with yellow highlighter in hand,
presents a “look forward to” scenario

Well beyond windows of curtained belief
and hedges shaped like poetic scribblings calling to me

The sidewalk of chalk marks in hopscotch etchings,
faded from the sun and foot smeared play dates,
leads to that place of affection filled dreams

and I see over the next sunrise a highway,
empty of detours and beckoning openly

to this heart, from another, on windswept invitations
penned in frilly fonts and colors of imagination,
reaching deeply inside and holding tightly

A glance back at what is left behind brings a smile,
for what waits ahead is now everything new

In the grand scheme of things, what is found chiseled in fate
proves that destiny is a destination of dreams, of hopes and
of love… . when that journey brings me to you

The sky is burnin'

Clouded flames of heated needs
soaring overhead in blistering fashion
Raging, scorching what hides within…
a distant glow fueling deeply

I believe my soul's on fire

As I feel this longing,
an out of control inferno
Blazing beneath my heart,
searing all that I now find

You are, I'm learning

Standing at the pyre of your beauty
Feeding pulsating embers of lust,
Passion’s combustion in a fever’d pitch

Oh so weak, I lift you by delicate wings,
gently as to not smear the wonder
that does meet my eyes

Softly you rest in my hand,
exploring my skin,
the lines of my life, crooked and scarred

Tiny feet dance
tickling me with wonderful sonnets,
penned by nature herself

As if you can see
my intentions are pure,
for I long to bring you joy, which you bring me

A sweet fragrance on the wind
rhymes perfectly with your mesmerizing luminescent colors,
shimmering in the morning sun

Spread your wings my little friend
for I have planted you a garden
filled with the nectar which you desire

And I will sit and watch
silently as you float, happy and free
amongst the beauty that grows for only you

Those who lash out when the heart speaks
avoid the many mirrors reflecting themselves
For in this rippled dream,
where perfect does exist
and mistakes are long gone like a Milli Vanilli song,
they fail to see that we are all human…
errors come with the package (batteries not included)

Sidewalk footprints, back and forth
pacing past the entrance to that world
where words have no meaning,
regardless of how they are spoken (or written)
Self-absorbed deeply in the waves
of that ocean tide of fantasy
crashing in white foam feelings, disappearing by sunset

What is it that makes us who we are…
our smile, our fingers, our brand of cigarettes
shipped in plain brown envelopes,
our thoughts, our dreams, the poetry we write
when we need to get it out…good or bad
When lack of judgment drips from the skylight
illuminating courage to do what we shouldn’t (even in darkness)

Wrong, I was wrong…regret, more than I could have known
I have looked in this mirror, then I looked away quickly,
Ashamed of that face, fell three stories below my heart
slipped on the disgust splattered at my feet (by me)
sunk up to my knees…bent, folding, scraped and bruised
but I require no sympathy, for I am not that devil Jagger sings of…
at least I hope not…please allow me to introduce myself…I am sorry

Nothing lasts forever
Jack May 2014
~

“And when your fears subside and shadows still remain”

Dark places floating in rear view mirror journeys
on empty highways, slick and cold but in the past
Within my hand I hold you, warmth finds the place,
leaving behind the sorrow on leaf covered shoulders

“I know that you can love me when there's no one left to blame”

Taken upon my soul, those incisions of pain, deep
Draped on heavy sighs and forward motions
Cast aside, tossed for loss, rendered useless
and my heart sings for you, come to me for I shall love you

“So never mind the darkness we still can find a way”

Shrouded in worry, clouded escapes stood firmly
Together we can draw back these curtains, embroidered blankets,
revealing the next hillside spilling a sunrise
in bright smiles and good memories rejoicing

*“'Cause nothin' lasts forever, even cold November rain”

Empty Fingers
Jack May 2014
~

Black on white
Scores in three quarter sorrow
Sharps and flats beneath heartbeats
Dust and cobweb mosaics
glistening in the key of pain

Scaled deposits wait
lonely in the corner
Replaying adagio chords of lost love,
composed in major and minor
on yellowed decaying paper

Tuning key locked away,
Forte expressions shackled
in sustain pedal nightmares
of faux concertos worn
in overture’d blistered edges
as empty fingers play on

Blood trickles on ivory,
cascading in mirrored visions
as I realize this candelabra’d composition
was written by me…in my hand, my notes
all the while knowing, the empty chorus performed
is the hurt I have staged upon your heart

Silence finds me sitting
on a wobbly bench, uninspired
attempting balance with a still metronome
living in the shadows of what I have become
decomposing your smile, ashamed at the lyrics,
cursing the music for it is the song
of your sadness that I should never have played

~

Desperate on this darkest star
In stagnant air to breathe
Jagged reach of tended far
So much I can’t believe

A’ chained upon the barricade
Locked this welded form
Broken of mistakes I’ve made
Waiting on the storm

As here upon my knees I weep
Head within my hands
Crying tears forever keep
Aside from promised plans

My heart now sliced in silent view
The end beckons me home
This which I have done to you
My life it sits alone

Shadows hung on shouldered fall
Mud encrusts my feet
Pain besets this lonely call
As endless sorrows seep

“I’m sorry”, echoes in my head
Engulfed in rhythm’d flow
Offered of a broken man
Who prays for you to know

Pleadings from this sectioned seat
I beg with all I am
Calling out in sad repeat
This empty place I stand

I ask for your forgiveness
Myself I can’t forgive
This punishment lies endless
Of fractured days I live

The pain is ever coming
Though nothing I shall share
I face the sun so stunning
In hopes that you are there

But still the time is passing
Sand in glass does fall
Desolate amassing
And I deserve it all

One sky
Jack May 2014
Quiet echoes bring the night of cricket song and firefly
Masks of clouded abstract shades intercept
Foaming colors take the eye to moments of shadowed dreams
Crimson plumes beneath a starlit canopy
Cars, like low flying jets, unaware, stay within the highway lines
Footing soft on dry grass down paths not yet carved

A sphere, above mature pecan trees, appears as curtains lift
igniting the eastern sky in beaconed majesty
Slowly puzzle pieced mist clears and bursts of color,
rainbows of dark bands announce the arrival
as this evening’s lunar show begins amidst
heavy sighs and mesmerized smiles

Full in splendor, basking in myth,
the blue moon, distant yet touching the soul
for this night is shared, beyond horizon’d glare
and focused thoughts of two places, two hearts, one sky
Whispers follow beams of ancient descent, quietly finding her
hoping she will hear and know…for it is this moon that connects us

Blinded Garden
Jack May 2014
~

Muddy shoes walk on helpless backs,
treachery a’ dance in the foothills of spite
Blaming only the scented dreams,
not the evil lurking in the thistle

“Blinded by beautiful gardens discretely nurtured of poison thorns”

Chalkboards erased and rewritten,
white letters fanning flames of deceit
In handwriting we thought we knew,
only cleverly disguised as friendly

“We trust, we smile, we fall, we cry…repeat”

When dust on coat strings settles
and seams of doubt ensue
Positioned on a ledge of lies, we jump…
for changes happen overnight

“Lessons learned but quickly forgotten in blooms of naïve beliefs”

Now as the pain of broken walls
crumbles, landing heavily on the gut
A swift kick releases the breath
of whom we thought to believe

*“It is the caring heart that gets ripped to shreds; it is the evil heart that feels no pain”

My precious love, my sweetest joy, O’ come to me this night
Make my beating heart your own to set my world a’ flight

Accept this dream which does come true of times long in the past
Memories of summer piers and wishes that were cast

Answered prayers so plentiful my life I surely live
To lay before your beauty all the love that I can give

To have you lie here next to me my pulse begins to race
As I gaze upon the truth, the beauty of your face

Perspirations beads upon your tanned and sultry skin
Your eyes they whisper quietly oh please do come on in

The sweetest juices flow within my mouth each time we kiss
I drink your love so deeply for its taste I can’t resist

Hand in hand I take you and I bring you to my feel
To let you know existence may be dreamlike but is real

Slowly now I enter as your smile turns to pain
You caution me to worry not as motions do refrain

The hurt is love in deepest form a’ sent to you this night
No closer can we touch my love, oh please do hold me tight

Move with me as motions quake in faster tempo form
Kiss me hard and kiss me long I’m ready for the storm

I grab your hair and slide you down till you are soon to see
The center of my shadow that does stand for you from me

I slide my ever searching tongue along your inner thigh
Silky smooth, O’ satin like this heaven of my eyes

You shudder as you place your hands a top my writhing head
So long your love desires me to live on what is fed

Such passion that is glowing in the darkness of the night
Send to me a sign that reads of all is very right

Lingering in thoughtful gaze I see the beauty quest
In all my day I know not how to put my mind at rest

Desires flare as I approach the point of no return
For every beat and motion leaves a clue that I must learn

Your touch , the heat is so intense within my soul I meet
My lips upon your luscious neck of perfume'd taste so sweet

Moon beams fill your smile as I stare into your eyes
The magic of this night we share is glowing in the skies

You pull me close; you call my name our fluids intertwine
I know this must be heaven as I realize you are mine

You whisper that you love me and my eyes they start to tear
So thankful for this wondrous love and thankful  you are here

I love you oh my darling and this love is evermore
*For everyday that we exist I’ll only love you more

And nothing remains...
Jack May 2014
~

I have stood on aging avenues
watching walls crumble
while destiny’s debris
collects
at my feet

pieces of the past?

I have heard the laughter of babies
and the wail of the homeless,
opposites in a
straight line of
what is
and what might be

voices of the future?

I have stared into the portals of
left over meanings,
methodically
laid out to rest
on long tables
of bad intents

visions cast of shadows?

I have knelt before a dream,
clutching my chest
with indecision,
the pain
a reminder of my
fragile heart-
opened

memories of lost love?

I have cried
without a witness,
empty streams of
dense forgiveness,
requested of no one
and answered by the same

and nothing remains?

Solitude lulls me
Jack May 2014
~

Soft sand, quill feather dreams float silently as
aquamarine emotions take me there
on tides of sapphire sea spray waves,
beneath sighing tiffany blue skies

“I sleep, so I may dream of you,
on wind swept wings, forever true”

Caressing my body as I slumber,
this sea, my warmth, my comforting wrap
keeps me safe in the glistening bounty of all that is beautiful,
while my mind ebbs to its melodic sound

“Solitude lulls me, on whispering waves,
singing the rhythm of warm summer days”

My eyes now closed, still witness visions of aquatic peace,
harmony on polished glass, mirrored by a morning light
along crescent shores and weathered dune desires,
resting somewhere between the pages of this I keep

“Your poetry my world, if ever we’re apart,
touches me with splendor, so soft upon my heart”

Soon I shall rise with the sun, framed by green mountains
and terra cotta sands, to walk among the ermine white foam,
tracing my steps and following my every thought
of you

*within my heart, for you I keep”

On Summer Days
Jack May 2014
~

Reflections on a mirrored pond,
deer at play the fields
Clouds of wispy fortunes found,
O’ morning view doth yield
The sky O’ peek thy opal face,
branches touch thy form
Clean the air of filtered trace

Fault Lines
Jack May 2014
Somewhere far beyond this faux grin I wear
lies the fault…in all of its lined fashion
Emptiness lingering on a sifted thought,
reaching for anything that resembles what we had

It appears on a thin white stripe, as a banner
of frightening horizontal access…merely a tap required,
and I freeze…wide eyed, glaring amongst holding pattern tears,
scared to death while revealing what waits…

There was a time when this occurrence
was that of a beautiful sunrise, a fresh cup of coffee
and my heart would skip a beat…now it stops, flat line,
daring me to breathe

As I read your words, over and over…and over again,
like a jagged line in the vinyl, spinning slowly,
bouncing back to the beginning, my eyes search,
longing for a phrase, a chance slip in the ink

Dissecting each italicized letter, I find
fonts of beauty delivering curlicue pain while
draping my heart with paragraphs of brocade fabric dreams
shredded and left out to dry…fading in the sun

Even looking away it still remains, staring back,
spelling out the fault…I see it and I hate it, for
like my faint refection in this lighted screen…
I recognize it…and it is me
I was wrong

Hyperventilating
Jack May 2014
~

Zephyrs breach this cobble wall,
gusts of morning glory breezes
swirl enchanting echoes about my weary mind
I reach for the top, pulling myself to my feet
so that I may see that which is calling
in wind swept phrases of poetic vistas…finding me

“Hallucinating?”

Breathless, I lean on moss covered stone,
weakened by mystic dreams and sighed fragrance
For the beauty which engulfs my sight
of lavender reaches in ribbon’d flow,
brush strokes of cocoa eyes smiling
now grasp my body, wrapping me in passion’d bliss…touching me

“Hypnotically”

“What magic is this?” I call out from the shadows
in wheezing of broken harmony
“I am love," she whispers as my breath escapes
Clutching my chest in fevered emotions,
wide eyed dimensions course my now beaming face
as all of life has bloomed within my being…and I fall

“Hyperventilating”

Butterfly wishes

Times are tough, I know it’s true
As walls keep caving in
Still here, my heart it beats for you
I miss you once again
~
When all it seems to be too much
You’d like to run and hide
Just close your eyes and feel my touch

Your beauty fuels my pen
Jack May 2014
~

Parched and dry, this barren field stretches,
I wander…head hung low,
staring at the emptiness eclipsing my thoughts
Brittle blades of grass disappear beneath
my worn out Chuck Taylors,
black and white crushing beige
in slow fashioned footprints ~ blistered dust

“My sanity for some cool water.”

When upon my shoulders, reddened by solar intensity,
wet from exerted energy, comes a breeze
as if Autumn has come to claim her colors,
to gather her brown and sepia landscape,
pull the lifeless trees, with little leaf
from the chalk textured ground
taking it where it would suit another ~ for this is my luck

“Take my shade a beg not, for it is merely a branch.”

Like fingers of a silken web’s reach,
a soft caress of skin is not understood, though very pleasant
nature finds me a shiver, a small comfort in this arid place
once crawling with snakes of assorted length, now
green as if lush has just been defined
with sweet air and pomegranate skies
featuring a glow, pristine shades of which I’ve never seen ~ heavenly

“To whom might I thank for such a gift?”

When before me stands, as my eyes saturated and lost
slowly focus, a beauty of winged loveliness now smiling within my own
personal oasis, which quickly forms in my heart
An angel, a goddess, extends a hand…to me?
My cracked and weathered palm touches, smooth, gentle
her hand as she lifts me, I am weightless, floating
to her, my breath leaves me as I wonder ~ is this my end

“If this beauty shall be my final curtain, let it be dropped slowly.”

A voice of velvet speaks, as I fade in and out of reality
now steadied by her touch and the sweet scent of lavender and lime,
“I have come to you as a verse...for poetry is thy keeper,
thy words have been heard,”
lyrically she sings
melodic and harmonious, rhythm’d to the beat of my heart
the race of my pulse, the love of my life ~ my muse

“Eternal to you I shall write, for your beauty fuels my pen.”
