Always think in questions,
Be the first one to ask 'why'.

Then follow with an easy 'how',
Exposing truth from lies.

My favourite is a simple 'where',
An adventure to be sure.

'When' tags and lands you in the past,
And makes the 'where' endure.

Now only our poor 'what' remains
Whatever can we say.

Asking questions daily
Makes my life seem quite Ok.

What has life taught,
What message spins,
Does evil have
A twice evil twin.

The greed and the fear,
The lust is to win,
Does all torment stop,
When true love begins.

God doesn't cry,
In His chagrin,
He waits for us patiently
To search from within.

I've spent my life searching for coins in the cushions,
Scrounging,
Excited by the cookie crumbs others leave behind.

No more.

Today I draw my sword.

It's me, not you.

From Boomer to Millennial

Stuck my thumb out,
Been fifteen years since I've tapped a ride.
Feels raw and unfamiliar.

Once stood on the Trans-Canada.
For two days,
Just outside of Medicine Hat.
Cold night.

People are afraid of me.
I can see it in their eyes as they **** bye,
Puppy frowns, won't play eye tag, no smiles.

Most interesting conversations of my life,
Were inside a stranger's car.
People will tell a hiker everything.
Why not.

There's a beauty in the chance encounter.
A freedom.
Give it another hour but the day might be gone.
Too bad.
Asking is starting to look like begging.
And begging never works.
Ever.

Why do we fear,
Those who stray near,
Why is it us versus them.

Can't we have love,
And be tolerant of,
Where do our differences stem.

In this world of division,
It's a simple decision,
Change is always within.

So nod at a stranger,
Kindness trumps danger,
Joy is a magical win.
