I Lost All
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
My mind is clouded with layers of hate
With the deadly accuracy, you feasted on my soul
And turned my heart to your secret stool
Inside your stony heart is a fortress
Buried therein are victims of lust
What a way to loose it all in one bang

In that temple you have buried destinies
In beautiful nightmares you possess and take them to Vegas
Your enclave of no return, where you prey on them all
There I was, a permanent resident and a slave to infatuation
You  laid in wait and made me  weak, vulnerable
In your world, Delilah is a saint, a learner

I lost all, including my sense of reasoning and judgement
I was lost to your intricate maneuvers
My heart still palpitates at the thought of you
In a desolate world desolate with mundane things
I wish I listened to the voice of wisdom
If only I could turn back the hand of time...

A Chameleon you are, though  masqueraded as a saint
Putting on class acts;  outshining Hollywood's finest
For the want of love, I lost my love
Now my heart rages like the tempest sea
I am now clad in a garment with togas of bitterness
Does true agape love really exist in this wicked world?

If I could, I would lock you up in hell
And caste you beneath to yonder place
Thereafter will I protect my heart from your kind
Cold blooded Leach designed to drain
Once upon a time, you were my morning star
Never again will I trade love for lust.

Mundane Things
Babatunde Raimi Dec 2019
Mr. Digger, weldone
Like a miner you dig deep
Looking for what is not missing
You visit every angle
Digging in and out of every hole
Then you rest to continue after a while
To commence your marathon findings
Continue, Minister of research
What a world, chasing after mundane things
You'll reap what you sow
Continue!
Babatunde Raimi May 2020
Your glossiness; amplified by sunlight
With a distinctive smell
You are curvaciously curvacious
Full of life and robust energy
If I decide to open the crest
Please tell me, how much gold?
Tell me, how much?

Dorning luminous colours
That seperates you from the multitude
Save for the blind, none can miss your presence
Heralded by a strong and seductive fragrance
Surely; I think, you were created on a Sunday
After God rested on Monday

Astrologers follows the stars
For me and my everything, I choose you
Like a beacon to an Airplane
Your firm rounded headlights;
They are my longitude and latitude
Sending strong signals to my temple
And if you say "No", I'll die...

This is not about your "Tembe"
I just want to be lost in your world
And be the co-pilot if your plane
Hence I choose to disrupt tradition
Why kneel, with a precious ornament
When I can do it poetically
With poweful lines woven specially for you

Your real gloss is inately in you
Not in Mary Kay or Estee Lauder
I can't guarantee you heaven on earth
Nor all the precious ornaments in Kano
But what I promise you with my life
Is a lifetime of love and friendship

This is where it gets tricky
With every courage I can muster
Backed by the backing of the Backer
With a glow of pride and responsibility
And on this very special date
I ask poetically, will you marry me?
Just say "Yes", please!

I Am Sorry
Babatunde Raimi May 2020
Why do we apologise at night
Because of the champions league
Increases the propensity to win
And nights are for action
That joy may come in the morning
Afterall, stars shines brightest at night

When we apologize at night
We are sure of "The promised land"
Maybe not night like night
Bur definitely before dawn
Oh! How I relish those fine moments
A night of bliss and "jollification"
Afterall, "Who pride help"

Other times when I say "Sorry"
It's to allow the night shift run smoothly
So, we can enter paradise
With valid particulars and license
Such we hours are solemn
It's not a time to be proud
Be calm and yet intentional

Sometimes, in your dreams
In the deadness of the night you hear
"Please wake up, i want to talk to you"
Say, "I am sorry", even if you aren't
You know what? That is wisdom
Such sleepy nights, not for "Koboko"

Men, so powerful and strong by day
And weak at night...
Let me warn you, be prepared
It might come with requests
And your answers can only be "Yes"
With a fully charged "Koboko"
Heaven help you if the gate is suddenly shut

I just love apologising at night
It comes with benefits and memories
It makes it soothingly gratifying
To optimize your performance at sunset
Say "Sorry", then worship in her altar
But you must have her "Passcode"
Else, you are no better than a rappist

At such special times Ladies
The Mumu button is all yours
Use and press it wisely
That's the time to ask
Afterall, a promise is a debt
And a promisor is enslaved to a promisee
That's how powerful a woman is
Let me just call it "Bottom Power"

You Lie
Babatunde Raimi Nov 2019
Honey, I am sorry
I betrayed your trust
Heaven knows it was the devil
I know you might not forgive
I impregnated another
I am guilty as charged
But it's okay if you leave

Sweety, you promised
Leave the devil if this
Your acts was intentional
Now you leave me no choice
I know what you want
But I won't leave
I'll stay and help raise the child

In case this is your getaway card
It is dead on arrival
If this is your December excuse
"You lie, we die there!"
A child is a blessing from God
I hate nonsense
Next excuse please

Ma Cheri
Babatunde Raimi Mar 2020
Let me into your innermost chamber
The chamber of everlasting happiness
And nothing else in the world matters again
Even if the ribbons aren't on the trophy
The joys therefrom can only be imagined

In your perfection, I loved you
In your imperfection; I loved you more
In your arms I found a fortress, a sanctuary
No wonder I am possessed by your love

Each time I gaze into your eyes
I loose the fear of my fear
The type a Lion looses to a Lioness
All I desire is what you desire
All I want is what you want
Believe me, I was circumcised for you

With you I found the moon
And saw you gently tucked amongst the stars
Whose light illuminates my world
Gently but intentionally I followed the trajectory
Until, like Delilah, I landed on your laps

I think of you in the tiniest  details
Let's run to the field
Make out and throw caution to the wind
Take me to your temple of *******
That I may be lost in you forever

The venom in your heart
Is the poison I desire
Oh! What beautiful poison it'll be
Let me **** from your breast of love
That I may live with your love eternal
I love you "Ma Cheri"

Women
Babatunde Raimi Jul 2020
He made the man the strongest of all
To till the ground and eat therefrom
He made the man wiser than the wisest
But he made a woman to wipe his tears

In heaven He made us all in His image
Promised protection from noisome pestilence
But asked that we always seek wisdom
Some of these hidden between her pout *******

He gave us peace that passeth all understanding
Joy eternal that flows from the top
And when a house is as peaceful as the stream
Not too faraway is a woman wiser than Solomon

For ages past, they've been suppressed and silenced
But this narrative is fast changing in our world
When you do find your cause, run with it
A world without women is not worth living

If all you've got as a woman is your cooking skills
Or a PH.d. In the beautiful art of procreation
You are a disgrace to feminity at large
A waste of the human resource called "Woman"

In my quest towards excellence in life and ministry
I have met principalities and powers adorned in Angelic apparels
****** from their breast of wisdom and intelligence
In honour therefore, I pen this to all the women in the world.

Babatunde Raimi May 2020
Untamed creatures
Lurking around the pride
Seeking whom to devour
Loose guard at your peril
It's welcome to Valhala

They answer to many names
Comes in different shades and sizes
They fly in from all corners
Seeking to prey on a "Mugu"

Worse that the Bats at twilight
They lash unto you until you go dry
Should you fall for their trickery
You might have fallen for a senior colleague

They are not the finest
But they are smart
Be the crow, don't be a "Mugu"
And before you invest, investigate

Babatunde Raimi Oct 2019
I relish her audacious maneuvers
She is highly curvatious
The most delicious I ever tasted
Her lips, lusciously lucious
Don't try her, she is vicious
Even if you are judicious
Tenaciously she will become voracious
Though her face looks fallacious
Never have I seen a damsel to edacious
Atrocious and highly ferocious
I should have been sagacious
I guess I am naturally polygamous
Hence I fell into the hands of a loquacious damsel
At the end, I became mordacious

Love Is Not Enough
Babatunde Raimi Nov 2019
Curtains drawn
As in a Shakespearean play
Nightfall in paradise
In a steamy session
Cuddlings and murmurings
Still, we didn't hear a word
No doubt, we are in love

Never felt this way
Nor this secured
Just like a Cub in a pride
This seemed like home
It was for us a beginning
The beginning of an end
Somehow, i felt uneasy

No more games
The time has come
To hang this booth
Make me a home
And focus on tomorrow
The one that is filled with hopes
At least, it seemed so

But I am in love
In this journey of "Yes I Do"
Is love just enough?
What about my dreams
Does it matter to him?
He never talks about it
Is this a red flag?

I worshiped you Diana
When you said "love is all that matters"
Did you think about compatibility?
Was this in your generation?
What if he she doesn't like 69
What if he is SS?
Just what if Diana?

Today in my world
The economic pendulum is swinging
Fast in favour of women?
What if he is not willing to work?
So many "What is?" left unanswered?
But I love you
Is love just enough?

We can plan for years?
Use the best wedding planner
Hirer the best artist
So much buzz and pageantry
Put into an event of one day
What about the marriage?
What if she still has baggages?

I love ***, she doesn't
I love to club, but he'll pass
Should i loose my life
All because of marriage?
But I'm in love
Doesn't love conquer all?
Should i just submit?
And how for the best?

Love is never enough Sweety
The real question should be
Are we really compatible?
I checked my checklist
And suddenly realised
We are in love, but incompatible
So, this is where the road ends
For decision decides destiny
I'm sorry...
Babatunde Raimi Nov 2019
If love turns south
I'll move north
Even if it turns west
South is the way to go
Let it sway east
I'll still believe
It might take time
But "Que cera, cera"
I was given birth to
I too will find and multiply
It's a divine covenant
And to all my mockers
Guess what! It's closer
Way than you think
Before you criticise me
Make sure you have a happy home
Be sure yours is heaven on earth
Before you throw shades
Walk my walk
Better late and right
Than early and sad
Mr. & Mrs. Marriage Counsellor
I rejoice with you
But remember this
Marriage is an institution
Marriage is not a competition
Volume high? Should I increase it?

Battle Of Survival
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
I tried to free myself
From the clutches of your grasps
The more I tried, the more entangled I become
But I won't stop, not now
Not tomorrow, not forever

Theory of evolution easily comes to mind
Kudos to Charles Darwin
The ultimate battle of survival
How I was so held aback
In the prison of your  creation
How I worshiped and adored you
Until honour turned slavery

For years I was under your spell
Enchanted by your lines and word play
If all things were made by HIM
One day I will sprout, fully liberated
Henceforth; I shall open my eyes and sense
Receive grace and be free
Babatunde Raimi Dec 2019
Hold me, kiss me, touch me
My ******* yearns for your touch
My derriere desires your squeeze
Come partake of my sweetness
The one that comes from beneath
Wind and grind like a monster
Until I release breathes of satisfaction
If you make me scream
And make me forget my name
If you make me a woman
And make me wrap my legs around you
Then I will be your Queen
All you got to do is just ask
And I will be right there
To ride on that roller coaster
That exudes tingling sensation
And makes happiness go round
This, the secret desire of every woman
That only legends understands
Take me to the moon and back
I want you in there
My adrenaline is high
I just need you to complete the highness
Until we fade into slumber
I love you already...

How Did We Miss It?
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
As I made to rest in the morning sun
I picked up your scent like a Fox
And it took me back to memory lane
The days when we laughed and played
The sneaky times in that brown suede mini shorts

How I marveled at your stupendous  beauty
Hidden in a mortal frame fit for Angel's
Those days I walked to Big Mama
I prolonged my calls to feel your breathe
It cost me shekels but I didn't mind
It meant nothing to what your sight presents

I wish I could say it all in a poem
Maybe I could do it in a song like Solomon
She was attractively tall and dignified
I looked to evenings to behold her presence
She was young, naive and a beauty to behold
How did we miss it?

She spread her wings and made to fly
I wish I could stop her to stay for a while
But she was ripe and ready to glide
So, I let her sail to a destination unknown
Bed undefiled, we kept our faith
Until she hid and peeped from her nets
Her bethrotal she kept in her Crest
A sign we loved each other but were not In love...

Moving from the south to the west
And there you are my love
Your arms wide open
I just need to fall in your hands
Then, together we fall to the ground
Kissing and rolling together
Until nature takes us west
It was cold and lonely
Even though we ended up east
For us, it was the beginning
A new dawn that will last till fade

That Africa May Be Great
Babatunde Raimi Jan 2020
Why call me African Giant
When my people live below poverty level
Less than two dollars a day
I cry for my country Nigeria
A people suffering and smiling
A land plenty in poverty

If we top Africa's oil production
Shouldn't our social security be world class?
Shouldn't our senior citizens be tended with class
Why the massive exodus abroad?
Brain drain and capital flight
Increase in crime wave
I cry for my nation

How can a man marry a wife
And another rapes her with impunity
Collects all the goodness deposited in her
Who should be the first partaker of the fruit?
Tell me, a stranger or the groom?
Who cursed Africa?

Who owns our oil wells?
How many indigenous companies?
Stupidity is killing a bush Rat
Selling it to the refiner cheap
And gathering with your cohorts
Drinking pepper soup with same bush Rat
At an exorbitant price

We lost our middle class
In Africa's supposed largest economy
You are either rich or very poor
This is more like the animal kingdom
Where the winner takes it all
What am I even saying?
Are we not all animals!

Who is talking about gold?
Agriculture and minerals
Who is talking about our human resource?
Schooled with employability mentality
We have to change the narratives
This change begins with you
Stop sitting on the fence

If we keep servicing debts
Supporting lavish lawmakers lifestyles
It won't be long before famine sets in
A re-enactmant of Genesis 41
What happened to infrastructural development?
Human and capacity development
Great nation, indeed!

Where do all our oil money go?
You cannot be a player and referee same time
Who benefits from our collective wealth
Definitely not the Niger Deltans
You should be ashamed as a leader
We chose you, but you failed...

Don't think we are fools
We are only acting the fool
Just to fool you fool
That thinks you are fooling us
A new generation of activists are born
Not with guns and powders
We will fight you with the greatest weapon
A pen, mightier than the sword
With the people on our side

I pay my taxes and abhor capital flight
If you under-report your earnings
Or surreptitiously evade tax
Are you different from them?
Play your part, keep hands clean
Very soon, their sins will visit them
Publicly, they will be put to shame
That Africa may be great

Sorry
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
I am glad I mended fences
I am glad I took the kneel
After years of ego centrism
Basking in one useless pride
That which lasted far too long
I finally got the nerve to cower
I said I am sorry; flat out...

How I felt to responsible for my irresponsibilities
Which should never be documented
How I feel so peaceful at heart
Peace, it long evaded my enclave
But I heard the words from a sage
"It is never too late to be right"
Let go everything, please let go

Seek peace and your heavens will open
You've been around that hill long enough
Holding on places a wedge on your prayers
"As we forgive those, who trespass against us"
Sometimes it is not your fault
Just say sorry and mean it
I see a new you emerging afterwards
Just say "Sorry..."

Good night to the King of Country
If you have not died
You'll never know how death feels
Good night Kenny Roger's
You made our childhood memorable
And growing up interesting

Kenny, We were born to die
But in your songs, you live forever
Only a handful attained legendary position
Your kind comes one in ten million
Don Williams gone, Kenny Rogers gone
Oh Lord! Please don't take Dolly Parton...

Our parents smoked over your songs
They didn't make sense yesterday
But they are a light to us today
Evergreen will you be in our hearts
With songs that touches the soul
Not that of a twerking generation

The world will miss your golden voice
Thank you for the Gambler
Thank you for the Coward of the County
You belong to the golden generation
Elvis presley, John denver, Johnny cash, Jim Reeves
And my dearest music goddess Dolly Parton

Death is just a phase
We were born to die
Living thereafter is a choice
The ace I got from the gambler
Would serve me till fade
Again; thank you Kenny
Goodnight, the legend of the countryside

Stop worrying about tomorrow
It will happen suddenly
Release your faith by believing
And it will happen soon

Once Joseph woke up a slave
Suddenly, he slept as a prime minister
The Isrealites wandered for 40years
But suddenly they broke forth

Stop seeing giants
Stop seeing challenges
Start seeing opportunities in lamentations
Then you''ll conquer that challenge

God is hastening things up in your favour
The power lies in your mind
And your tongue, so speak possitivities
And you shall testify

Defy the odds and change the narratives
The rain falls but for a time
The Sun shines but for a time
Your glory will shine on for a lifetime

In those difficult times
Remind HIM of HIS words
And HE will rush in your defence and liftings
God is in a haste to liberate and bless you

Stay connected friend
Your time is coming
But if you believe
Then, your time has finally come

Goodbye My Love
Babatunde Raimi Oct 2019
Memories now embedded in time
So, we can officially say "It's over"
But logically, is it really over?
Now, i am left with the smell of you
Your sweet smelling fragrance
Puffed from the finest of scents

Day suddenly turned nights
I wish we could make it together
For I hold your picture in a frame
Carefully hidden in my heart
And each time I breathe
A part of me exhales and inhales you

The early morning teas and late night calls
The way you touch my air
Sing me lullaby and all that
Your soft and succulent lips
I wake up in the deadness of the night
With thoughts of you in my heart

It was necessary we said goodbye
That we may follow our path
But in us was "The Dream"
Nature played a fast one on us
We bowed to societal pressures
And science reminded us of genetic and biological clock
In all, we had to say goodbye

Your were extremely caring
And dangerously jealous
That made me really feel special
Even if I say "Yes" to another
You'll always be a part of me
Ours, one of the best love stories ever written
The story of once upon a time...
Goodbye my love

Doesn't make a ***** or ******
Guys, if you want a virtous woman
Amongst all, meet her at the middle also

No need for aphrodisiacs
Eat and exercise well
Sleep and maintain work, life, balance
Only then can the ******* be sweet
When your mate is happy
Everyday will be christmas

Be advised!
A man looking for a wife
A man looking for casual ***
Are two different things
Until you find him
Close that lid
Bed undefiled...

A beautiful ****** got married
She fell into a temptation
He was a stud man.
The experience, mind blowing
She divorced her man
"Why? The Priest queried
Her response: "I never knew what I was missing all those times.
Men, if you need help, please seek

Start with communication
Then foreplay; from the periphery
****** satisfaction is mental
To access the different buttons
That will take her to Jerusalem
You needn't be big
Just the right buttons
Only then can you maintain your "Kingliness"

Did you actually get here?
Congratulations! You made it
Now, go back, read slowly
Then stop, ruminate
What do you think?
While this promotes ****** pleasures
It is, as prescribed, bed undefiled
Towards a happy home...

If you have been afraid
If you ever held back to say it
Or you just didn't know how
I just helped you say it poetically
Make sure your mate sees this
Final advise
Before you judge
Make sure you are perfect...

Behind My Smiles
Babatunde Raimi Jul 2020
With you still trapped inside of me
I can't let go, my whole life is a mess
If I am unworthy of your love
Tell me, who is?
When you said the words
My whole life crumbled

You were class act in your world
I was your puppet, was I not your world?
I hope I'll be alright, though I doubt
You already are deep into my fabric
Now the world knows your name
Where do I start from? Where?

Behind my smiles are broken promises
I was laid and used by a gamer
A master of deception and manipulations
But don't cry for me, I'll carry my cross
For her, I lost my friends and family
Who knows if love will ever come again

The treasure you seek will fade away
The six packs you treasure will wear out
Even the ornaments will be out-fashioned
Then, I would have come on stage from the rumbles
You will come back looking for me
But I will be long gone and happily married...

Go For It
Babatunde Raimi Apr 2020
You can turn back in your mind
You can turn back at home
You can allow your friends throw shades
Your family can even sow seeds of negativity
You can even give up this close
But rules are rules
Never give up on stage
Burn down that bridge
Cast away doubts and unbelieve
Come out of that prison
The one that encaged you in your heart
If you made it this far
Surely, there is a star in you
Break the ice, go for it
Now, back on stage!
Ready! Set! It's in you!
Go for it! Flaunt it!

Goodnight Iya Jogbo
Babatunde Raimi Jul 2020
Good night to the Queen of our Airwaves
If you have not died before
You'll never know how death feels
Good night Iya Jogbo
Flanked by Obus and Wale
You made our day pleasant

Truth, we were born to die
But in your unique voice
That echoes till eternity
You live forever
Only a handful attained legendary position. You did!
And your kind comes one in ten million

Evergreen will you be in our hearts
With your special kind of brand
You are the sauce in the Max Stew
A rare gem with a locally scintilating voice

The world will miss your golden voice
Thank you for the time with you
Now that you have boarded finally
May the heavens be kind to you
For in you we found inspiration
A reason to live...

The Story Of My Love
Babatunde Raimi Jul 2020
Amazing voice, beautiful soul
I get goose pimples on your vocals
You are my finest accomplishment with intriguing attributes
I get chills each time you hulla
For you are amazingly beautiful, in and out
If this is not love, what is?

Wrap me forever in your arms
In those gorgeous contours and alluring magnets
And let us swim in the ocean of love for life
I feel safe always in your warn and secured shoulders
Even when the rain drops
You give a cover like no other
Indeed, true love is beautiful

Let's put up a stunning performance in a duet
That will erase the best duets ever made
And bring forth beautiful children
In a union made in heaven and consummated on earth
You are my song; yet unsung
My book yet unwritten with amazing chapters

Whenever I am down and out
I just relive and playback our memories
And suddenly; the spark in my eyes light up
You are my Butterfly, my Heroine
For all my books yet written and unwritten
Poems penned and yet un-inked
Today and always, I dedicate all to you

Dynamically phenomenal and fabulous
Intelligently intelligent and sassy
So beautiful as the morning star
Homely, down to earth and vivacious
This is the story of my love
The missing part of my puzzle

Booths Hung
Babatunde Raimi Jun 2020
After years of meritorious service
Rooted in resilience and dedication
Even though I majored in the other league
I was ruthless in attack and midfield
Never did I allow any "Tembe" pass over
Yet, I didn't merit a national honour

I fired like Christiano, cut in like Messi
I pushed like Drogba and slide in like Kanu
I was the real G.O.A.T that only legends understand
A couple of this a couple of that
For the fear of lung cancer,  I avoided 69 and headings
Only legends will understand

Home and away, I was strong
Kicking from all sides of the field
My generator of generations deserves a medal
After surviving different fields of different sizes
And now, I am hanging my booths
What a way to quite the scene

I buried all in all the sitters and kept clean slates
Whenever I hugged the line, I changed the rythym
Sometimes I was caught off guard
Especially when I play home sweet home
But right now, its time to park the bus
Before calamity calls...

I stayed on my feet as a legend
Not only was I a dead ball specialist
I scored many dead ***** and penalties
Bringing out the glow in every field I cultivate
But it's time to hang the booth

I remember committing some fouls
Sustaining life long injuries and retaining momentoes
At the end, vanity upon vanity is vanity
I am done and dusted, to face my warrant
The only field I want to cultivate now
My wifes'...

The kingdom of God is at hand, repent
If you are still playing without caution
It will not be long before your time will come Not everyone gets the grace of a second chance
I did, now, let me face my career, warrant squarely
Godsped! As for me, booths hung.

Adieu Mama
Babatunde Raimi Jan 2020
She layed cool from the mute
As beautiful as the river goddess
Her smile still looked beautiful
But she is now a star
Sitting in the galaxy of the greats
She crossed to the other side
Where the grass is greener
And the water purer
As she layed cool from the mute
She smiled like a diva
For the first time since the news broke
I released droplets of tears
Then I smiled...
She knows I love her
But who am I to query the Creator
Who has chosen to take His creation
She got to her final abode
Done and dusted, she bowed
Afterall, legends don't die
They translate
Join me celebrate my icon
The one whose vehicle I rode to earth
From dust to dust she slept
Yet, so beautiful
Adieu Mama!

Can She Stil Love Me?
Babatunde Raimi Sep 2019
From his lips escaped thefeelings
He expertly hid in his heart
How he so treasured them
They were a part of his story

A breezy night it turned to be
A day she told me about that guy
She was drowned in his ocean
But still, I could feel her hurt

I wonder what spell he cast on her
I can still recall the statement
"His smile melts my very bone"
This, made me shiver

This strange guy I never met
Seemed to have captured her world
"I can never be with him"
Those words were soothing

But then I understood her hurts
She had carried it for years
Like a plaque on her breast
But, can she still love me?

Stay Alive Brother
Babatunde Raimi Feb 2020
A Poem: Stay Alive Brother (A Poem Against Domestic Violence On Men)

If you do the crime
You'll do the time
Stop killing your spouses
A man is naturally flirtatious
If he opens the bonnet of another
Why not check yourself

The boys are speaking out
Broken boys turn broken men
The men are now speaking out
Don't let her get to you
If you can't take it anymore
Please take a bow

With fire power you reign curses
Decapitate and maim them
You cut them in their prime
Just because of jealousy
No longer shall we be quiet
Guys, if you must, sign the dotted lines

I would rather be single
I would rather be a single Dad
Than be with you, an abusive partner
There is more at other side
Marriage is like admission
You desire Unilag and end up in Kogi

For better for best it is
Not for better for death
Wake up! My friend
Lest you want to answer from the other side
Stay alive brother
Report all domestic abuse

So, before you pop the question
Be sure to also ask
"Will you stab me?"
Never again shall a brother fall
To the uncontrollable anger of a spouse
You have been advised! Be wise!

You Were My Fine Wine
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
Surviving you has armed me with bravely
Now I see you for who you truly are
Even Snakes shed their skin
But a Leopard can never change her skin

I deserve all you did to me
For every tears you made me shed
The sleepless nights turned insomnia
I should never have trusted you

Your professions sounded angelic
You were a rarity, a gifted wordite
Who has mastered the art of deception
So sad, all was foundated on a plate of lies

You were my very fine wine
Made from the purest of grapes
But once I was blind; and now I can see
I pray to Zeus, maybe someday, love will find me.

Pleasures Of Vanity
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
You didn't respond to my calls
So I decided to invoke you in a poem
Now and forever, my soul yearns for your presence
I tried to stay afloat, glaring at your pictures
But this got me more sorrows
For my bed is lonely without you

Sometimes I pretend you are here
And hug my pillow so tight to feel your warmth
Only to find myself on an island called yesterday
Alone, lonely and missing your  presence
I just realised I have lost a diamond
While chasing after pleasures of vanity

Now I am left with memories
Your sweet smiles and laughter at the other end
How I so long to hear your voice at the other side
All I needed was just your "Hello" to start my day
And that sweet voice to draw the curtains at night
But now, all those are memories traded for vanity

Please don't break up with me
You know I love and adore you so much
Do you really have to go My Love?"
I wrote my best lines in your arms
Climbed my greatest heights with you in the picture
Without you I am a non-entity
All I ask, now and forever, please forgive me...

"Osu"
Babatunde Raimi Aug 2020
You brought joy to my soul
and lightened my darkened heart.
I just want to love you forever and re-write our history books and its negative narrations.

You are a power packed woman,
curvateously endowed in the right
proportions; in the right places with the
moves of a jungle cat.

In the eyes of our Creator, we are all
"Nwadiala". Anyone who calls another "Osu" is but a terrorist. Don't we all have red blood flowing through our veins?

My love for you transcends tribal or
religious lines. If I found love beyond the boaders of my village, why not? With our union, we break the chains of "Osu" and live as freeborns.

You are not just my heaven on earth, you are my still waters. You are the stream that flows in my heart, the sound that oozes from my flute.

When your father walks you through the aisle, I will be at the other end with a smile, to walk to from thence into bliss. For us, it shall be for better for best, till death do us part.

Thank You
Babatunde Raimi Mar 2020
You are the soul reason
We believe in selfless service
At the expense of your lives
You risked all to save ours
Like the Mesaiah, you laid it down
The world thanks you

You took the hippocratic oath
Swore by all the Greek gods
And the only Uncreated Creator
To preserve the destiny of mankind
In the face of a pandemic caller Covid-19
Even of it takes your life
Thank you!

While we quarantine and pray
Asking forgiveness for sins untold
You solemnly swore to defend our nation
To serve her with all your might
Against all foreign and domestic enemies
But today, it is a biological war we fight
Thank you to all military and para-military

Show me a Nurse in white
I'll show you a person who left hers
To ensure you are not plagued
Fatigued, overworked, but resolute
You took the Nigthingalish oath
To lay down your life if need be
Thank you!

Now you all know the magnitude of her sacrifice
When she and her team stopped Ebola
She should be accorded a national honour
Monuments and schools should carry her name
That the blood of our heroes past be remembered
And their sacrifices that we may live

The world, stopped by one virus
The pendulum suddenly stopped swinging
The sun refused to rise from the east
And set from the west, but spins northward
Right now, say a prayer for the world
That this plague may pass away
Lord, we are sorry, please heal our land

"Omi'je"
Babatunde Raimi May 2020
There she lay
Her hair thrown back in disarray
Her body raked violently
Her eyes revealed one
Who had known not much but pain
The tears flowed freely
Down, down it came
And it dropped
Unto her cheap clothes
It gave it a rare design
It portrayed her life story

My Obsession
Babatunde Raimi Feb 2020
On that special day
In a blissfull atmosphere
I made out passionately
With my obssession
It was an intense session
Because it lacked supervision
After the seemless transfusion
Done with professional precision
With all the apprehension
Before the mating session
Now I have an undying ambition
With a very crazy compassion
With all the tension
To take you to the session
That will call for a love procession
To declare my obsession
And my conjugal mission
And that is my conclusion

We Desecrated Our Altars
Babatunde Raimi Jul 2020
We desecrated our altars
Violated our bodies and soul
And sought atonement with  accursed tongues

****** has became a norm
As paedophiles and rapists throng our streets
And then our gods kept mute, silent

We turned our land to ***** and Gomorrah
Are there not ten worthy in our universe?
That YOU may stop this plague? My Lord?

We are sorry, sober and repentant
Therefore, we invoke 2 Chronicles, Chapter 7 verse 14
Please, heal our land of this plague of Covid 19

Today, our mouths has been gagged by a mask
What a way to humble our pride and irreverence
What a way to bow and return to Your Majesty

But You Lied To Me
Babatunde Raimi Jul 2020
Our journey, a best seller
Our walk, a movie thriller
Our love; eternal
But you lied to me
Yes, you lied to me...

You promised not to fall in love
But each time you stare
I see a glow in your eyes
A desire beyond platonic
Subtly, I prayed you'll say the words

I'm sorry I lied too
When I said "don't fall for me"
I was already lost in you
I knew I was vulnerable
So, I built a wall around me
Culled from the play girl's book

I might have lost you to stereotypes
But it's time to change the narratives
If you are really in love
Just say the words my dear
It's called "Shooting your shot"

When I woke up this morning
With the subtke crow of the ****
Heralding a beautiful morning
I knew I was going to have a great day
I didn't know how, but I sure believed

Now that I found you
This, surely is a miracle
Dreams come true
If only we believe
Hei! Just that you know
I have been looking for your number
You and I are gonna have a great time
Can I have it now, please?

Godspeed
Babatunde Raimi Jun 2020
On today's menu
Killers of our dearest Uwa
Pursue them like a pride of Lion
Those Buffalloes must be preyed

We might not get along so well
But when the jungle matures
And the order is from above
It is just a couple of days
We will see their faces

Where is our Jack Bauer
"That team dey burst my brain"
Fish out those carnivorous creatures
Then Officers happy hour afterwards
As the whole of Mami market awaits us

We are on the same page on this
This is one too many
Please help us find closure
Should we find somewhat of a clue
We will turn them in
Godspeed our gallant NPF

Please, Come Back
Babatunde Raimi Jun 2020
You bailed out
Just when I needed you the most
I thought we were building a castle
Because I saw me in you and vice versa
What a castle this turned out
A castle built in the air it seemed

She lured and flashed it at me
Then I lost my sense of reasoning
Allowed logic to becloud judgement
This is on me, I know
All I ask is one more time to make it right
Please come back, please

Let me lock "The piece"
And give you the keys
As a sign of my repentance
I lost your trust on the laps of Dellilah
If only you grant me a second chance
Never again will I stray

For every tear you shed
It ripped my heart into shreds
Took a piece of me away
And turned me a social misfit
My holy voice will I lift
To God of second change
Please, bring my love back.

The hour has come
Bride walks in with her father
All through the aisle
While I wait anxiously
The the Pastor pops
"Do you promise to love her"
"To have and to hold"
"For better for best"
"Till death do you part"

As I say my lines, "Yes, I do"
Wear the rings
I hear the voice
"You may kiss her succulent lips"
How on Zeus green world did he know?
Hope will skip that dreaded lines
"Is there anyone here..."
I am afraid of karma
Lest my sins finds me

Low budget wedding
Bride and groom's parents
Two officiating Pastors
Best man and Chief Bridesmaid
Ring bearer and little bridesmaid
Just one witnesses apiece
Trust me, this is best time
To walk the aisle
Maximum twelve attendees

No invitation nor reception
No over-rated wedding planner
No decorator, just photographer
Son of man, be wise!
For the single and waiting
There is a beauty in Tragedy
This is so cost effective
Covid 19 inspired, limited edition
The time is now....
