You're in love with a rotting Ginsberg
The desert's tanks are overturned
and your motifs are stale

Fooled into the belief that anyone cares
That clumsy wordplay is acceptable
or that your name carries weight

It's the same piece, week after week
With drugs in your system
and stoic aromanticism

How do you expect to write a novel
When ideas melt in tablespoons
or are blown in dusty clubs

You sit and watch rain fall in archaic gravel pits
By a window, long overdue for cleaning
and Jandek plays mournfully

Watch as that jaundice coloured sky opens
When the winds overturn dustbins
and form trash streams, ironic

Another languid day you waste on cannabis and ennui
Whilst the world burns; it's people raving
and the war is raging

Your parents hung mistletoe.
And we obliged to the tradition.

Your lips screamed lust
louder than my head begged reason.

b for short
“Love,” am I right?
Either you handle the concept with a fifty-foot pole,
or you lick your lips, and
sink your teeth right into it without question.
You choose to be safe
or you choose to be satisfied.

But there’s a small collection of us
who hang back in the shadows.
Those of us who choose neither.
Those of us who think.

We’re hesitant to even speak the word.
[Rightfully so.]
You're a naive if you use it too much.
You're a heartless ******* if you don’t say it at all.
But it's only a word.
We shouldn't give it the authority
to paint us into a corner.

Yet, here I sit
where my favorite two walls meet—
plenty of moments for thinking—
a thick, fresh coat dripping down
on either side of me.

There you stand,
arms crossed and smiling—
all come-hither and inviting—
saturated paintbrush in hand.

The only thought I can manage?
*****. I really like this color.

we sang along to Joy Division
and listened to Ian Curtis' voice
spell out the truths of love and life
too afraid to listen
so we smoked a bit more

we got high
very high
we couldn't walk in straight lines
you said your legs were like lava
so we hid away in each others' embrace

he said love will tear us apart
he was right
but I never expected it to be
as blissful as this

Persephone
Venus in Cancer
cheeks flushed in rouge
quiet behind the noise of your ruse

love draped in blue
keep me far from your waves
i pollute calm oceans on the clearest of days

Shameful am i
regret in my voice, with this
sharp tongue sealing the coffin that carried my choice

it wasn't you, then
at least, not as it seemed
I loved you too much to let you near me

we should try again
when we get out of our heads
that may never happen, so I'll pretend instead.
written about someone i (almost) love(d)

wrong place//wronger time...always in sync but out of rhythm
i shouldn't write about you
i shouldn't miss you
i shouldn't love you
i shouldn't need you

but...a part of me always will
only time will tell
if i let go
if i can give up
on what meant the most
we'll see tomorrow

as much as i say
that i hate you
a part of me
******* loves you
it suffocates me
knowing that
you're happy
because of someone else
that person gets you
and i don't
that person gets to hold you
and i can't
that person sees you
and i cannot
distance kinda broke us
and our connection apart

you'll never see this
or know of it's existence
but just know
that my heart
is yours
even though
it truly hurts
to see you loving
someone else

you have pictures of me
saved on your phone
i wonder why though
because you don't love me
although i was stupid to believe
that someone so gorgeous
would ever take a chance
with an ugly disgrace
like me, myself and i
i was so blind
by your light
that now i cry
because you broke me
and i
have only myself to blame
i let my guard down
and now i am
drowning in pain
not sure if this rhymes well or if it's good but whatever...poetry is poetry
