The Search for Ourselves
Emily Mielke Nov 2014
Far and wide I have searched in copper fields
Stories of loss and tales of good fortune
Around the world twice with our weary heels
Which bare the sweet memories with caution
Worn thin by questions and become by fear
Artificial spirits fueled by turning heads
Still many adventures await me here
However, the tongue can stain the eyes deep red
Watching as the ceremonies unfold
The new moons and stars now show who they are
The future and the outcomes, all untold
So much pressure, failing to reach the bar
Band together as brothers and sisters
Together we can survive these blisters

Bound by my honest ignorance
I question
Is it another regret to add to your list?
Or was it one of the few you're glad you have done?
This knowledge I request
Too frightened to ask

If you regret, I will no longer have a singe thing to live for
If you are glad, I shall have hope.
I thought I could hold on
It's too late to stay

I thought I couldn't live
Oh how mistaken was I
What was then and what is now is a paradox in its self
I can't live with you
I can only stay sane without you

You took my ****** lips
You made them yours to claim
Not believing it has significance to recognize
For it holds no relevance
That is what you say
That is what you feel
That is what you think

So I walk away
For the very last time
I say goodbye.
Hope it was worth it, to have a "good" life.
Just please, don't hurt anyone like you hurt me

Love at Long Lost
Emily Mielke Nov 2014
The threat of Danger
The sense of safety
The knowledge of evil
The grace of good
The will of love
The strength of passion
All brought down into one being
Boiling inside of you
I question wether I should take the chance
Or never know what I've lost
Should I be frightened
Or feel at ease
These I cannot answer
I will hold on forever
You are my fantasy

Dead Butterflies
Emily Mielke Nov 2014
No one can say she didn’t try
She struggled against his current
Yet true to her self
She struggled against his current
Yet true to herself

She dreamed and she loved
She dreamed and she learned
And she held nothing back
But she couldn’t make him love her

Some people can’t simply throw it in
But the lonely hearts sing straight to heaven
Their stomach’s filled with weight of dead butterflies
Take me as I am
She stilled tried

Broken and bruised,
moving from one to the other
She's lost herself
Cannot find another
She sits and watches through the eyes of another
Hoping to one day, be like the others

If You Could See You
Emily Mielke Sep 2014
If only you could see you, really see you.
If only you could step outside yourself and witness the person you truly are.
You would see the color in you.
The child in you.
The man in you.
The artist in you.
The musician in you.
The passion in you.
The leader in you.
The sincerity in you.
You would see the lover in you.
The awe in you.
The beauty in you.
The smarts in you.
The care in you.
The spirt in you.
If you could see you,
If you could see you, how I see you,
You would know how the spark of you touch feels with every embrace.
If you could see you,
How I see you,
You would discover a whole new version of fairytale
That begun with “Once Upon an April 19th”,
If you could see you,
How I see you,
You would know how when our eyes meet, I fall right back in love
Like it’s the first time.
If you could see you
You would see the snow in you
And the warmth you

You

You, in all of you
If you could see you,
Really see you
You would see how I see you
You would adore you
The true you
The true you I know
The true you I truly love

An Old Fuel and Flame
Emily Mielke Jul 2014
How can I keep from singing?
For when your Eyes lay their sight upon me
Those soft Lips I know so well
Stretch and curve
Into a familiar shade of Awe
And for when those barres of Awe dare to move
They utter songs of beauty
And whisper words of Love

The same words that I cling to
The same words that fuel me
Though this fuel has Power
To provoke Danger
We are the White Hats of Secrets
And the Keepers of the Dawn

The Sun does not dare to rise
Until we dare to lower
And although the Dawn is kept in our control
It is the Dawn
The Spark and Hint of Light Fueling Life
That is kept in our very being
Life fueling Light

And as we lie down together
Under the
Stars so bright
The Candles and their light
Cannot outshine us

For in that moment
We are a Dream
A Wishful Dream
Now coming true

So lie with me longer
In Reminiscence of our Song
And Dance
By the light of the Moon
Our Memories fueling our Light
Our Light fueling my Life

Blinded Uncertainties
Emily Mielke May 2014
I fear your disappointment in me
I feel my disappointment for them

Please be a joke
Be a lie
But I would shrink to greater degrees inside

I am bending
And I am breaking
I can’t handle these emotions
I am shaking

Now bleeding
My heart, in need of healing
That power, only you, you and your promises can give me

But promises, promises
They mean nothing really
You have have told me so yourself
They are not meant for keeping
But for breaking
A risk worth taking

This is how you feel
This is what they say
All to penetrate your mind
Each and every day
To give you security
A sense of fidelity, truth worth keeping
But all blind, misleading

I will stay
Even if you find you have gone astray
I will hold on
But this nightmare has to end
The unseverable bond
We have to mend

I need to know
Can I trust?
Is it safe?
Can I love?
It’s you I crave

Stay with me
I’ll be right here
Don’t let it change you
Overtake you
Don’t live in fear

I’m afraid you’re nearly gone
I will always hold on

Please, Stay
