Silent Tears
Emily Brooklyn Jul 2015
Each day as evening starts to set
The ache builds in her chest
She knows she must go to bed
And try to get some rest.

She hugs her tear stained pillow close
When no one is around
And cries for one she loved and lost
And screams without a sound

Others see her in the day
And think she's doing well
But everyday as evening sets
She enter her own hell

Time hasn't healed her pain at all
Or quieted her fears
So every night, alone in bed
She sheds those silent tears.

Farewell, Friend
Emily Brooklyn Apr 2015
Tears shed
Hearts abled
People wave goodbye
And I wish it was a lie

I cry away in solitude
In my sulking attitude
I want to be alone
Completely lone

To cry away
To shed the tears
To get away
From the life of gray

I hate you, I say
Why couldn’t you stay
Why am I like this
Completely without bliss?

The feeling of loneliness
You take away my wholeness
Why did it happen
What happened to my passion?

Why is everything so black?
I just want to have you back
I feel so empty
So full of memory

But even if you did reappear
It might have been a year,
It wouldn’t be the same
You would have a new flame

So I say this: Farewell, Friend

Abstract Poem about Grief
Emily Brooklyn Apr 2015
The ache in the soul
The pang of anguish
That tears a hole
Into my heart-sadness

The rage you feel in your essence,
Anger for what happened
Fury coursing through your veins
For your soul that blackened -Anger

The sting of tears
Rushing down your cheek
Bringing back all fears
Reminding you that you’re weak-realization

The waiting linger
of the past
Lights, getting dimmer
Gone so fast- regret

And you recall their smile
Their bright eyes
The clothing style
And words of the wise- Memory, wishes

The denial and grief
All at the same time
Trying to keep it it brief
But always in the back of your mind-denial, insecurity

Full of sorrow
And remorse
With no hope for tomorrow
And anger to withhold-hopelessness

The difficulty of affliction
The worry of distress
Full of addiction
And burdened with stress-worry

The pain of the end
Parting of a companion
and loss of a friend
To lose hope-final acceptance

It is Winter
Emily Brooklyn Apr 2015
Drops of snow
Fires will glow
A white sunrise
It is winter

Biting cold
Flakes of gold
A dark dusk
It is winter

Icy breeze
Flowers freeze
A gray afternoon
It is winter

Stinging gust
White dust
A silver evening
It is winter

Piercing ice
Wintry spice
An ebony twilight
It is winter

Technicolor Phase
Emily Brooklyn Dec 2014
I am the red in the rose, the flowers on the blankets on your bedroom floor. And I am the gray in the ghost that hides
with your clothes behind your closet door.

I am the green in the grass that bends back
from underneath your feet.
And I am the blue in your back alley view
where the horizon and the rooftops meet.

I am the black in the book
the letters on the pages that you memorize.
And I am the orange in the overcast
a color that you visualize.

I am the white in the walls that soak up
all the sound when you cannot sleep.
And I am the peach in the starfish on the beach
that wish the harbor wasn't quite so deep.
NOTE: I DID NOT WRITE THIS. All rights go to Adam Young/ Owl City. I just love this song so much that it could be a poem the way he sings it :)

The Sea
Emily Brooklyn Dec 2014
Sometimes dangerous
Sometimes calm
And sometimes treacherous
But mostly like a psalm

It is an ageless being
Always there, never gone
Sometimes it is agreeing
As sure as the dawn

In storms it rocks and rolls
In the calm it is a peace
But in the end, it is a soul
Who will never cease

The Horse of My Dreams
Emily Brooklyn Dec 2014
The horse my dreams
A beautiful, black mare
She needs no themes
And has beautiful, black hair

She is kind and gentle
But a little wild at heart
Just a tad temperamental
And ever so smart

And in my dream
She gallops with me *******
And her eyes gleam
Glinting black

And when I ride her
All the worries are gone
We only exist, in the world of summer
With a beautiful dawn

I know not who this horse is
I say
But deep down I know that this
Is truly the horse of my dreams

Myths of the Mearas
Emily Brooklyn Dec 2014
Silver, black, white, gold
Northern lights shining like old
Shadows dancing in the cold
Manes shaking uncontrolled

Hooves stomping in the snow
While their sterling eyes glow
Tails swishing in the wind
Heads waving at the bend

A forelock flying in the breeze
A wisp of a pearly waft
Drifting, about to freeze
A breath so soft

Horns swaying to the gust
Silvery, onyx, ivory, gilt
Passing on the trust
To never wilt

Their pale eyes open wide
Dance to the light
As if to glide
In the night

The starry night
Silver, black, white, gold
Northern lights
Full of secrets to be told

A World
Emily Brooklyn Dec 2014
A World

A world I can see
But a world that cannot see me

A world I can hear
But a world that cannot hear me

A world I can dream of
But a world that won’t dream of me

A world I can love
But a world that won’t love me

A world I can believe in
But a world that won’t believe in me

A world I can need
But a world that won’t need me

A world I can trust
But a world that cannot trust me

A world I can believe in
But a world that cannot believe in me

A world I can delight in
But a world that cannot delight in me

A world I can appreciate
But a world that cannot appreciate me

The Storm in Me
Emily Brooklyn Dec 2014
The storm in me
The lightning in the heart
Always there, like the sea
Just like an art

Always raging
Never stopping
And never ageing
Constantly blocking

I can only see the light
With the love of a friend
And then it will no longer be night
And never to end

And finally the storm has ceased
And I will be free from the chains of the storm inside me
Because it has gone off into the east
And I am no longer in its keep
My poems aren't that great...
