It's high time
I drown my pride
open up these
ocean eyes
let the rays
shine inside

my slit throat
no longer groans
my own hands
have forged this
hope
from broken bones
to newfound
growth

Yes
Her head tilted
every so slightly
after the question
settled
as if it had been
too
long

heat sinks through
my skin these days, i
can't keep it out. i can't stay
put to shed the extraneous
motion inside of me; i suppose,
if anything,
i'm contracting, collapsing.

god knows what i am willing,
but, angularly, my
motives are changing and i'm
afraid of where these
clouds lead.

am i free or just a
cast shadow of me?
am i a liar,
or do i care simply in veiled metre,
and
would i stop before i seem?
i can't cope with strangers here but,
i can't move an inch.

**** young love,
it makes you insane.
-Alicia
i pick you up from the earlobes ,
shining in the december of your adolescence .

this morning a 19 year old boy asked me how to spell achievement .

this afternoon i saw exhaustion in a single mother's fingers .

i saw peace in the bald , pink cancer patient seeking holistic remedies at Whole Foods .
the weary barista delights in his tip jar .

and this
this is the tip

of the glacier
that is hope ;
a shipwrecked shore to call home

you are not from here
sailor .
do not anchor
your worries to reality ..

we all beat the ocean
in our sleep
