Talent
isn't its own
it's nurtured
and nourished
by patience

Every idea can be more effectively put across
(in my view)  with a better choice of words

Poetry takes over immediately
when prose abruptly stops
it has the supreme quality
to draw out the deepest thoughts

Can I say
   I'm honest
  when out
  of ten times
  only nine
  I've scored?

It's only when people
are lost in the dark night
would they begin to realise
how blissful to be living in the light

I love every Monday :

it draws me closer

to my monthly pay-

weekends are costly

my credit card blows away!

Sentiments know no logic
           yet in such a life I live
           thinking and reasoning
           is unfeeling and mechanistic
          and offers my heart no relief

Of one's best side

that people describe

mine I seriously doubt:

to what virtues do I subscribe?

When soliloquy
is much better than
a thousand voices
of society

My patience
and endurance
make me stronger
than courage

You've read 5,000 books
this doesn't matter
unless they contain substance
and made your live better

I've several heights
to climb -even in the night
and here there's not
a single spark of light-

the bitterest winter -wind
how my face it does cruelly bite!
But I have promises to keep
all fear I've to set aside-

the woods are dark and deep
every intruder they dislike
hard words they seem to speak
they are my very blight!

I can't anyhow walk back:
I've promises to keep
several heights  still to steep
before I'll find the comfort of sleep

Paradise is not outside
you'll find it only within your inside

I don't wish
to know more
it'd only cause
me more sore

If you don't climb
the height you'd not know-

if you don't run
you'd not know
what's fast or slow-

if you don't go
what's in store
you won't know-

how cold is outside?
you've to step
into the snow-

who deep is the water?
to its depth you must flow-


what's the meaning
of life?-
you've to suffer sorrow-


how could you feel
love's glow
if its footsteps
you don't follow?

If you must grow
chart your own path
be nobody's shadow!

The world
is not mine to own-
equally
I'll not allow myself
to be owned -
by the same token

If one has

no doubt

their life

is not worthy

to be spoken about

First---find health
not wealth
if you've found
the former
life you'll celebrate
and forget
the latter

Existentialism
in just five words:
life is meaningless
and absurd

I'll be present
    but have nothing
   to say- I'll leave it
   to others who attend

Time has taken flight
by myself I still abide
what has gone before
will serve as my guide-

the oak-tree has shed
its old branches and leaves
but its roots continue to strive
its health is unaffected

I've gone through life's
ups and downs-- I've become
more resilient, stronger
bolder and wiser--have triumphed

over every adversity -
I'll fear no future outcome
an adventurer still at heart
every challenge I'm happy to welcome

My teacher
once said to me:
If you've nothing
to say--shut up
or you'll be causing misery!

In wanting you
  nothing else I'd need
on your love
I'll eternally feed

It's short-lived-
the sunshine outside
that which never fades
resides in your inside

Choose wisely

Poetry
is the sanctuary
of the poet
where he gravitates
his thoughts and feelings
of exquisite beauty
and in this he hopes
his rhyme and verse
will be read in posterity

What words
would be said
by a married couple
when they reach a hundred?

They have after their names
a string of degrees and qualifications
don't be taken in by such credentials
study what they are closely--as persons

Life,  often, more the rupture
considerably less--the rapture

The greatest beauty
is invisible-
the sublimest thought
is incommunicable -

the dearest love
is  undefinable
the deepest sorrow
is indescribable.

It's not for me- poetic  magnificence-
I'm merely a lover of words which I weave
together in moments of awakened inspiration
hoping what's written makes sense in every sentence

If something is over-idealised
it's bound to have the person agonised:
it would be will-o'-the- wisp
and cause the demise of wish

I don't dismiss
the seemingly absurd
its every angle I search
some merit therein is uncovered

Is life the problem

   or is it you?

   Step back and think

   you'd know which is true

Let not your pursuit
be inimical to the truth
though what you desired
has been achieved--it'll yield no good

If you have inner splendour

it will be instinctively felt by another

Be such a person:

kind
empathetic
gentle
friendly
courteous
considerate
tolerant
patient
respectfu­l of others
charitable
generous
trustworthy
faithful and loyal
just
fair
helpful
humble
co-operative
grateful
prayerful
never judgemental

There will always be
people who are smarter
than I am---this I recognise-
but I'll continue to endeavour

not to compete or overcome
nothing is there for me to prove
only that myself I shouldn't let down
with awareness I have room to improve

I'm no vintage
nor any life's remnant
all that I can claim
is that I'm a free man

living a common life
with none do I contend
quietly attending to my daily task
with nothing to complain

I won't go beyond myself
there's nothing
to add or subtract
I'll make no other calling

what I am is adequate
with my warts and faults
no comparison do I need
I've no reason for remorse

Even the strongest
have hidden fears
though in agony
they fight back their tears

strength like weakness
is relative in nature
no one is a super-person
there's no such thing as a perfect measure

Life is endless talk

most of such has no worth

Whatever your cause
passion or reason
I can't ever agree
to be your spokesperson

Every life
is an unfinished coda
there's more
that has to follow

the song to be sung
the poem to write
love's loftier words to be said
past sweetest dreams to revive

a new path to chart
a fresh field to walk on
a vast sea to navigate
another dream to be born

there's greater beauty left
because the most sublime
hasn't been reached
to be ripened by waiting time

I like your fine spirit but isn't there a gentler way to achieve this than fighting your way to become the person you aspire to be?

This is the way of Zen and Taoism:  achieving without struggling or striving.

That which you mention is the Western pugilistic way and it hurts.

It's easier
fine buildings
to construct
than creating
virtuous human character
but steel . bricks
cement and mortars
they don't have
a whit of feeling

thus, human nature
is superior-
this we must nurture
to rise higher
than the loftiest towers
become stronger
than the toughest
building structures-

this is the truth
forever:
we will always
be worth more
than building materials

Some love life
some do not
there're yet others
who can't be bothered

as for me
life I respect
what's in store
I accept

moments that are joyous
even those that make me sad
the former to heart I'll take
of the latter I ain't afraid

life's myriad chimes
they ceaselessly oscillate
they carry us forward
until we're dead

The action is the liberation
