My eyes are enticed----beauty dazzles-
but my heart warns: beware,  love puzzles!
Dr Peter Lim Dec 2017
Smoke drifting
to the silent sky
what does it evoke
or signify?

A sense of ephemerality
or love's forlorn cry?
is life but fleeting smoke
or watching the fairest flowers die?
Dr Peter Lim Dec 2017
The poetry you write
what's its colour?
does it cry or laugh?
is it hope or dolour?

The seed you once planted
when would it bud and later flower?
after the last call from the distant mountain
you-- then in unawakened sleep--who would remember?
Dr Peter Lim Dec 2017
Do not love me
too much--I can't repay
I'm less than worthy
the right words I can't say-

in my silent heart only
I whisper: love must survive the darkest day
for my wrongs, I beg you to forgive me
if some day you should cease to love me, I'll go gently away.

Just a common face
           colour won't hide my age
           nor wart--- in the mirror
           I shun that image!

          Do what you may
          no difference it does make
          there are 50 writers altogether
with those photos don't you slip into mistake!
* the editor wrote to me asking:  What colour would you prefer for your photo?
Dr Peter Lim Dec 2017
Life should not be construed
as 'bad business'
it's not a merchant
nor a purveyor of happiness.
Dr Peter Lim Dec 2017
Please take my seat
I can comfortably stand
say what you may
I'll try to understand--

a good dialogue
is all that we need
in harmony and goodwill
we plant the best human seed.
